His laughing died down to just spaced out chuckles several seconds after her comment. Brushing hair from his face, Osso straightend and looked at her.
"Heheh. If you count large, farmer tanned, beach and ocean goers as some sort of waterfowl, then I've hit quite a few." He said rather proudly as he put his hands in his pant's pockets.

"Nice," Len said, really laughing now. "They're just moving targets, really."
She looked out onto the lake slightly concernedly.
"I hope it doesn't come back and divebomb us or anything," she said, looking more amused now at the notion.

"They even come with their own point system," he added.
Following her gaze out towards the lake, he only chuckled again. "I don't think so...though you never know. Better lock your door tonight..."

"Heh. I bet if ya hit 'em in the head it's worth fifty points," Len said idly. Cracking her knuckles absently (there were quite a few there, so it made a rather spectacular noise), she grinned.
"Fifteen locks on th' door would get rid of anybody," she said confidently. "Not even ninja-ducks could get in."

"Square on the forehead is a hundred," he snickered. For a second he looked at her as the popping of knuckles reached his ears. He definitely couldn't make his sound like that.
"Fifteen locks may be able to keep out ninja-ducks, but what about the ever sneaky water badgers?"

Len really considered the question, looking amused.
"One can never count out the stealth of a water badger. They're deadly," she remarked, picking up a fist-sized stone and tossing it into the water with a statisfying ker-PLUNK.

"Highly deadly," he replied and picked up another rock. Holding it in his hand, he brought back his arm...and then a voice rang in his ears.
"OOOSSSSOOOOOO!!"
The rock plunked heavily into the water and Osso whirled around. He knew that voice... and it wasn't making him excited. Looking up back the hill, in the direction of the HQ, he could already see a bobbing orange head.
Quickly he looked to the right, and then to the left, but there was no where to hide. Seems he and Len had moved away from any trees and bushes big enough to conceal him.
"Hide me!" He moved Len in front of him and stupidly (along with being totally desprite) ducked behind her.

"Huh? Why, what's the matter? Whozzat?"
Looking over her shoulder as Osso hid behind her, Lenore fidgeted, panicked, and did the first thing that came to mind.
"Okay! Hiding!"
She swept an arm through the air, ripping shadows from the ground, and did a rather stupid-looking pirouette, shadow grasped in hand. They were now, by appearance, a blob of some smoky and half-transparent material.
Not very inconspicuous.

Osso blinked at the shadows that soon surrounded them, but hey, as long as he couldn't be seen, it was all good...hopefully.
"Ossssoooo! Oss-what the?" Kanti, the child who had been caused Osso's need to hide, paused some feet away from the shadow blob. Raising a brow, she brushed some of her vibrant orange bangs away from her face, and tilted her head in confusion and curiosity.
"Osso?" she asked, though didn't expect this thing to actually respond. Moving closer, she took her wooden kendo stick and extended it towards the blob, poking its mass lightly.

Lenore bit back a squeak as the new kid poked her stick into the smoky mass, grazing Len's stomach with the tip.
Don't try to touch it don't try to touch it- she thought frantically.

"Osso! I know you have to be in there! Get your butt out now!" Demanded the girl as she withdrew her kendo stick. "And who's there with you? I know you can't do this sort of stuff."
She moved the stick to poke the smokey blob once more.

Panicking again, Len bit her lip and edged back slightly. What to do, what to do?!
An idea sparked, and Len, already getting severely tired from keeping the lame excuse for a shadow 'cloak' up, shifted every bit of focus she had into making a mask on a much grander scale. The result was something twisted, crudely human and crudely animal, which opened smoky jaws wides and allowed Lenore to crudely howl, trying to scare the kid off.
Yeah, this so isn't gonna work, she thought, even as the strange birdish sound rattled out of her mouth again.

Osso looked at Len as he noted she was making one of those masks again... though he doubted it would make Kanti go away.
Kanti jumped back as the sound rumble from the disfigured mask and out of a recently aquired instinct, she brought her kendo stick up over her hand with lighting fast reflexes.
The pause she did before starting to bring it down again gave Osso the time to let one split-second future to current image flash before his eyes; it didn't look so pretty.
Just as the hard wooden stick came down, Osso caught it above Len's head, the shadow mist swirling where his hand had gone through it. "For christ's sake, Kanti, STOP ******** USING THAT DAMN STICK!" He yelled.
Kanti actually became shocked at the block of her attack, but even more so at Osso's words. She let go of her "weapon" which allowed for Osso to drop it to the ground next to him...which was still hidden in the blob.

"Nyeep!"
Lenore looked astonished at herself for uttering such a pathetic little sound, but made it none the less as she watched the scene unfold. Huh. Interesting.
"Okay, that's enough of this," she said, letting the shadows fall away. "Jeez, I'm beat."
Hands braced on her knees and taking a breath, she looked back at Osso regretfully.
"Not one of my better ideas," she admitted without embarrassment. "Nice swearing, though."

Despite the fact that he was pretty pissed at the now horridied orange-haired child in front of them, Osso chuckled at Lenore's comment. "I try, and it's all right."
Moving out from behind her, Osso rounded his attention back on Kanti. Crossing his arms, he spoke. "You are in so much trouble."
The girl squeaked, large cheetah tail drooping behind her, "I didn't mean to! It was a reaction!"
"A reaction that can split someone's damn head open if they're not wearing a helmet, Kanti! Mom's already told you to stop being to 'kendo-stick happy'," he quoted the last part with his fingers, but his tone didn't falter.
"I'm sorry! I didn't know and I had no intention of hurting her!" Kanti turned her attention away from her brother and to the ashen skinned girl, " are you okay? I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"
