[[> Allow Sir Rotgud to question them ]]
I think about what he said. I should have gone left!! I could make a break for it now but I did promise I would help.
"Maybe they can help us find out what happened?" I direct the question to the Stationscary beasts.

> Allow Sir Rotgud to question them iloveyouDIE "Jekyll, what happened to me? All I remember is writing and that sound... Munches. Was he here?"
First came Munches Then the Reaper Who pulled you from the belly And took you through the passage We were not permitted to follow But you were not the last
"The Reaper?" Questions Sir Rotgud, "There are no reapers here. You mean Ratwel? He is a demon, silly creature."
My apologies, Master
"Ratwel took the others down that way?"
Yes. What he did, we do not know.

[[> Go through the secret passage]]
"I promised I'd help. Shall we go find what happened?" I pick up Sir Rotgud and head back towards the bookcase. I hope he'll go with me.. I'd prefer a weapon. Ratwel was still lurking somewhere.

THE GAME IS OVER Unfortunately, this day marks a week since the game started. Because I have some RL things to be getting to, I’m going to end it here and award everyone who participated.
Stationscary Beast
Goes to iloveyouDIE, who was not only here every day of the game, but who took the longest path to the goal and still got the closest.
Splodeys
Go to everyone else who actually participated. Not even half of those who signed up for the game actually played. So if you made over five moves in the game, you get a Splodey. Epilogue Once upon a time, there was a lonely reaper and an old manor in the woods. The reaper had worked very, very hard for decades to make a name for himself among other Halloweeners, but often felt too awkward or demure to shine like his coworkers, the demons, did. He was often given thankless jobs with little to no recognition to show for it, though he attempted to excel in every aspect. When he grew older, he tried manipulating magic enough to give him the veneer of a demon. The difference in how he was received was so drastic that he began to despise who he was, as a mage and as a reaper. Under his disguise, he fell in love with a demoness, and often came to court her, believing that he could marry her if only he could retain his appearance long enough. He even bought an old manor in the woods to try and appear as if he were wealthy.
Of course, he was revealed, and tragically shamed from the premises and his beloved. For many years, Ratwel hid away in that manor, alone and heartbroken. He wanted a family. He wanted to be happy. Was it too much to ask that? Instead of getting back up on the dead horse, figuratively speaking, Ratwel worried himself into a sort of mania and came to the conclusion that no one could respect or love him unless they had no other choice. He planted his weapon (its suggestion) in the farthest room of the manor, from which it began to slowly work its influence through the house.
To everyone else in Halloween, he had simply seemed to vanish. Not a big deal, since there were plenty of hermits to be had. But, perhaps strangely, news began to circulate that there was a beautiful manor on the market. Great bones, it said. Indeed.
The scheme was simple: Ratwel posed as both the previous owner of the home and as the old butler, a demon who was surprisingly proactive and came practically free of charge. He served, loyally, for about a year, getting a feel for the family until he began to worry that they would leave him. He waited for everyone to rest before he more or less kidnapped them from their beds, whisking them away, one by one, to a part of the house that could more easily seize them in its influence. He was able to take the FEAR from their bodies and distribute it to other objects in the house. No two demons had the same object.
Ratwel had two families before he had the Rotguds. His insanity was retriggered when their daughter, up til then the kindest to him, left for school.
In this story, you have had the misfortune of stumbling upon the manor just after his abduction of the Rotguds.
The purpose of the game was to find Ratwel’s room and REMOVE his weapon from the house. Essentially, it was the key piece to a long line of crazy. It would have set everyone free as well as discombobulated Ratwel long enough for him to be incarcerated.
There were three paths you could have taken:
Shortest: Through the right, save Munches, have your partner give you a boost through the grate. (Sayuri got closest here)
Medium: Go to the girl’s room and talk to the mirror. The ‘daughter’ (who is, in fact, Ratwel’s weapon posing as the daughter) will explain that there is a secret door in the upstairs hall. You fight a monster there, who gives you the key to the study. You could go through the secret passage or the boy’s room.
Longest: Kill Munches, receive the study key, then make your way all the way up to the study, where you could take the secret passage through the study or the boy’s room.
The entrances to the final room:
- The pit in the passage behind the bookshelf - A tunnel through the grate in the son’s room (there was also a Splodey here to the first to reach the room and claim it; no one did) – if you bring your partner to this room, he will get you killed. - The grate in the room just before the ballroom- you need your partner to give you a boost.
The reward that Rotgud promised you was, indeed, the Stationscary Beast egg.Ratwel Actually a reaper! A mage, to be precise! His specialty was teleportation (as those who used his Transporters and found themselves suddenly confronted him would know) and obscurity! He was able to cast a shadow around Munches to allow him to be unseen as he abducted the Rotguds. If you had fought him (while unarmed with the poker) you would have been shown that his horns were not real! Thanks for playing, everyone! Prizes are being sent out!
