( oh dear.....)
As X23 made her attack, the chopper goes down in a hurry crashing hard. Several of the unfortunate Black Talon operatives just have enough time to see the still whirling tail blades of the chopper -- and get shredded in a spinning shower of gore.
(yuck burning_eyes )
Daedalus blinked hard, when he saw this and simply shook his head, "Damn. Alright, I'll take either a shot at Miss Chop Suey or Popeye -- whichever I can shoot first.... then, I'm ghost."
The experienced assassin waited to get a clear shot of either X23 or Cyclops -- both of which where now near the ruins of the church.

Conner had been spending his time knocking over agents- into walls, into eachother, and the like... Superboy wasn't expecting to run out of the energy for this kind of work any time soon.
(um....? sweatdrop a short post to at least inform what he's been doing...)

 By this time, the Professor had snuck up to where Nightshade's portal is open. The government assassin had already figured out that attacking either Rogue or Ms. Marvel would be pointless; however, he spied the darkforce portal, So that's where they're coming from....The Professor very carefully prepared to throw a frag grenade through the shadowy doorway fom his hiding spot out of view of everyone else.....

X23 did not see the Professor, but her hearing, occupied as she was with all the other sounds around her, was still able to pick up on the Professor's movements. She smelled his scent, and could also smell Babs' scent due to the portal; they were dangerously close. She didn't know why, but she was being compelled by... something that was not her own inner voice telling her to get over to the portal, now.
And so she ran, sprinting as fast as she could, making her path as random as possible, so as to throw off Daedalus; within a few moments she had managed to get halfway to the Professor; or was it merely a few moments? It had felt like forever, like time had been slowing down simply for her-- was it a trick of the brain or what? She didn't know, and didn't care, all she knew was that she had to save her mother.

Daedalus patiently waited, his eyes slightly widened when he spied X23 zigzagging across the open street toward the building with Nightshade's portal. The smug assassin chuckled lightly, "Chop Suey it is...." Mentally, Daedalus analyzed X23's zigzag course and aimed to compensate for her speed. An evil smile crept across his visage, when the young mutant was running slightly away from the sniper. Daedalus simply waited until she pivoted on her foot to turn... and fired -- aiming the bullet to transverse through her liver, stomach and the top part of her intestines.

  Watching the scene unfold from a tree, the man in the black suit noticed a man sneaking to the portal that he still wasn't sure on what it was. Though seeing familiar heroes such as Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Songbird he guess he could stop the guy. Jumping out of the tree with blurring speed, he fired one energy line which caught into the very particles in the air. Swinging quickly, the man in the black suit soon then felt a danger buzz through his flashes of a girl being shot. The one right before his very eyes, seeing the bullet on it course in the flashing imagines. He shielded the girl, forcing a large burst of energy emerge blocking the bullet. Landing near the running girl, he landed on all fours like if he was Spiderman,

The Professor had just pulled the pin on his frag granade, releases the handle and tosses it directly at Nightshade's darkforce portal -- just as Rogue walks through it. The grenade tumbles toward the lady X-Man's back..... Meanwhile, from Daedalus' perch, the experienced assassin shakes his head at this new hero's interferrence, "I don't believe this... That's it. I'm ghost." With that, Daedalus takes in M-200 rifle and leaves his perch and the battle, while the Black Talon have been driven back temporary by the heroes counterattack.

Conner broke through a group of agents by flying upwards, along the way picking up two men and throwing them on top of a half dozen more. He looked around briefly to analyze the scene, and something very alarming caught his attention. It was a small sound, along with a visual... a man had thrown a grenade straight for Rogue and Nightshade's portal.
Superboy didn't waste any time in reaching the explosive. He snatched it from it's midair arc-
"No you don't."
- and chucked it as hard as he could straight up to emphasize his last word with the grunt.
(...anyone want to guess how high that is?)

While the Professor's eyes widened at Superboy's sudden appearance, the assassin dove onto the next building -- quickly going over the other side in an attempt to escape. His attempted flight was something as if he was a human jumping bean.... sort of.
Rogue's stopped in mid stride halfway through the portal, when Konner moved to her side, snatched the grenade and hurled it upward. Marie simply stared at Konner with her feeling swelling with her heart now racing, when the now distant grenade exploded.
Rogue couldn't stop herself. She wrapped her arms around Konner, giving the Titan a passionate kiss....

Conner was part way through his turn towards Marie when-
"Rog--gnnm??"
Catching him fully by surprise and completely off guard, Rogue had pulled him into a deep kiss. Immediately his eyes widened and his face went hot. She was crying... he could see that she was crying... and an indescribable amount of confusion over took the Kryptonian for a few moments. Confusion on what to think, and what do next.

 After what seemed to be an eternity of bliss, Rogue slowly looked up to Konner with tears still streaming down her face and reddened cheeks. The young mutant forced herself to speak to in between her sobs -- all of her emotions came pouring out, "Kansas... Ah swear ta you and tha good Lord above.... That if ya let meh, Ah'll do everythin in mah power ta .... Make you the happiest man in tha world..... Anythin you want of meh, it's yours. Ah know tis just sounds nuts, but... It's how Ah feel... You're tha most wonderful mahn Ah've met... And Ah've only met ya just a little bit ago. It's all crazy... You're tha most carin and sweet guy. And Ah only dealt with ... jerks. And Ah just want ta share eveythin with ya.... Ah just want to go anywhere with ya... And... why tha heck do we have tis dang battle now for cryin out loud?"

It looked as though Conner was drawing a big blank. When Gar had spoken to him earlier about Cassie, drawing Superboy's attention to Rogue's crush in the first place...... he was so distracted by the constant flow of missions and work, he didn't even realize what had happened. Kon blinked at her, and the last thing she said brought him part way back to the current situation. He finally broke eye contact to look out at the mess- they were still on the wrong side of the portal.
"Uh- let's-"
He looked at the portal sheepishly, to where it would be safer to talk.

Completelyignoring the guy that had wound up saving her life, X23 made it to the portal, and watched with incredulity as Rogue kissed Conner. They were kissing... now? For the love of...
Shaking her head, X23 stepped through the portal without another word.

"Kurt, go... I'll tie things up real quick"
Scott said jumping out of the remains of the building.
Kurt nodded and teleported to the portal.
"Is Zhat everyvone? Okay let's go."
He touched Rogue and Conner's shoulders gesturing for them to go.
"Come on Scott vill be right behind."
Scott looked around carefully to make sure they'd gotten everyone and checked to see if he could spot anyone who was an immediate threat to his comrades who stood by the portal ready to leave. Scott shot at a part of a building that was collapsing in a way to have the wall fall to block any foot traffic from the trouble to the portal. He then hopped over rubbled running over to the portal keeping careful watch of his surroundings.
