To be honest, I have never visited the commerce forum... Nor do I know where it is. ^^;;

After looking at the specifications about where each thread belongs, I think you have a point about using Commerce. But, Barton Town would probably catch the most attention. We can change the plot a bit. I can pitch something else that will work without any difficultly. In any case, we need to make sure that we have Annual Ball tied to the title. Just having that much should draw some interest right away because most people have heard of the Annual Balls, but they aren't quite sure what they are. It also might be good just to have a general information thread in the Barton OOC. I don't think it would violate any rules to have an informational thread where we just explain the ball, and try to get people to come.
Here's another idea that might be more Barton Town appropriate. Do you remember how the main plot for this ball talks about random deities influencing the sin demigods? We can tie everything back to the Greek theme we had with the 8th Annual Ball. We can pull out our old characters, and have them on a quest to find some demigods that Olympus never wanted mankind to know about. We could lead the guests through fun adventures, fill them in about the last ball, and then ease into the intro of the gods and the tower. It would make the perfect prelude! It isn't place specific, so we wouldn't be stuck in Commerce. It doesn't really fit into any other category either. What do you think?

I made the bump thread! Click!
Next on the agenda is roleplaying right? I like your ideas on using the theme from last year. It could give them a basic idea as to what the Annual Ball is all about.

That might be a good springboard, but it seems like it would be better stuied only for this year.
My personal belief is that as long as the theme is rather timeless and general, it should be good. But that's just me. XD
It would make managing the thread easier and maybe less confusing as new generations of potential ball-goers head in each passing year.
But I think we can all agree that it should go in Barton Town, based on all of our replies, so far.

That looks great, Harmonic! I'll make sure to bump it to keep it up! I already subscribed to it. The only thing is that I think it would be helpful to tell what goes on at a ball, when it is, the structure of each ball, etc.
Moo got it squared away so that we'll be featured in the next issue of Gaia Online Magazine and in the Newbie Supporting & Training Guild's next newsletter. Since he can only get on Gaia with his phone, he asked me to write articles to send it to them. I wrote them and sent them, but I suddenly feel like I need to edit them a bit after reading your intro, Harmonic. I think I might have time. sweatdrop I was in a hurry to get those in before I left for New Orleans. I had a great time on my trip, btw. biggrin
@Crystal - We could make a new RP advertisement thread each year using the old ball theme to lead into the new one.

We could do that. But I was thinking of having just one thread, for all ages. Less hassle? I don't even know. XD
And that's great. I know you probably did an awesome job on the articles, Chibi. You have a degree in English, I wouldn't be surprised! And New Orleans? Oooh! Was it jazzy? =D

Was it jazzy? =D If you can think of a set-up that lets us stay in Barton Town, then that could work too. xd New Orleans was very hot and very rainy. I didn't hear any jazz music, but I did see murals of jazz musicians. I was mostly doing community service work with my church, but I had a great time. Just because I have an English degree doesn't mean it's perfect. I can confidently say that the grammar and punctuation was perfect, but I think I should have had more early ball history in it. I mostly focused of what a newbie to the balls can expect when entering one. Most of the people I've talked to don't even realize that it's a three day roleplaying event. I also mentioned that we have games, prizes, and fun themes. I really should have enquired more about the earliest days of the ball before sending in my articles, but I was rushing with packing and junk before I left. xp

There are tons of ways to set up the thread, I'm sure we can find something!
Sorry, I only meant that you probably shouldn't have to worry about it. And that's a fair enough excuse, really. XD
What kind of community service work?

What kind of community service work? I was originally supposed to be in the group that cleaned out vacant lots and do yard work, but I got moved to the group that played gamed and did art activities with kids in a park. I was happy with the change. 3nodding What are you apologizing about? blaugh I'm the one who was beating myself up with regrets! rofl

That's a pleasant surprise. Did you enjoy working with this batch of kids? Hopefully they were nicer than the kindergartens you told me about before! D:

They were great! Plus, there were several other volunteers, so I didn't have to make all of them behave on my own strength.
