Hello! My name is Britney. I live in Houston, TX and visit the Shambhala center in Houston every now and then.
I'm not really sure what sect I am. My mom recieved her vows recently and she's been guiding me through Buddhism. I am a walking Buddhism and Shambhala library!! lol, I've read so so much and love to discuss all the different applications of Buddhism and how to facilitate it into life.

Hi, my name is Tom, living in wintery michigan right now.
I'll be poking around occasionally. I don't consider myself Buddhist, but I am very interested in learning more about it, and have done some independent research over the past couple of years. I don't have a lot of time to devote to it, as I have a huge load at college this semester, among other things. If anything, i consider myself agnostic, or for a less euphoristic term, undecided. I like to read about religious histories and cultures in my spare time, not so much because I'm god-shopping, but because it really does fascinate me. I hope I learn much here

I'm Bri. I'm 15 and while I'm not Buddhist I'm interested in the religion. Most of my family is Christian, and I think that's just wounderful for all of them but I have never felt a pull torwards God. I am agnostic at the moment.
In my History class we were learning about the different types of religions. I'm not very enlightened as far as non-Christian religion goes but Buddhism really clicked with me. I've been making thoeries on life and how things work and sort of "rules of thumb" to live by that Buddhism often agrees with.
I'm not sure if Buddhism the thing for me, but think that if it isn't then if will lead me to what is so either way it's a good start.

Hi. My name is Kelsey and I'm 20. I've been struggling with Christianity and religion in general for several years now. I've always felt a stronger affinity with the eastern religions, but my loyalty to my upbringing would not allow me to 'convert'.
Recently I did some in-depth research into Buddhism after learning more about it in my World Religions class. I'm happy to say that I have found Buddhism, specifically Zen, to be more akin to my nature. heart

Ah, if anyone wants a good introduction to Zen book:
The Book of Zen (The path to inner peace) by Eric Chaline is very informative. It gives a historical background of Buddhism in general, as well as the many ideologies and concepts of Zen. The author uses a flower as a visual metaphor for Buddhism and it's growth.

Hello. Ive actualy been a member of the guild for awhile but I figgured I should add myself here.
My name is Ian, I'm 20 years old and I live in the heart of Shambhala territory. While I must admit that the group has had a majour impact on me I still remain seperate from it do to ethical reasons.
While I havent boxed myself into any one tradition I am pretty much Tibetan in practice. (Thanks Shambhala)
I should note that as well as being buddhist I do also consider myself atheist. So my practice tends to be rather "no bullshit".
I'm a computer animator by day, and I'm engaged to my wonderful boyfriend. Hes not anything really though he leans towards roman catholic like his mother. How he can be catholic and be planning a gay wedding I dont know, but he is.

I just joined this group yesterday. My real name is Mikael but please, call me Mika. I became interested in Buddhism after I read the I-Ching and a few things on Taoism. While I did enjoy the literature available on these other paths, I felt that Buddhism would be a better guide for me personally. I'm 24 and I live in Michigan currently, until college break, then I return to work until the end of break and come back to Michigan.
I believe that's it for now. 4laugh

I, likewise just joined yesterday. My name is Nicholas Poole, but i highly prefer Nick, or just purple. I've just recently converted to buddhism and need to learn many many things. I've read up plenty on meditation, the four noble truths, and the eightfold path, but am ignorant to all of buddha's teachings otherwise. I need a teacher, and am very ready to learn. I live in Plano, Texas.

Hello! My name is Ben, I'm 20 and I live in Holland, Michigan. I'm not Buddhist, but I do believe in the values of what the Buddha taught. I'm sort of an eclectic person when it comes to religion...sort of a religious mut, taking beliefs of different religions and bringing them together. I'm very much a believer in universal religion, that is that all religions are different paths to the same ultimate goal of heaven/paradise/perfection. Besides that...I work as a delivery driver for a florist, I spend a lot of time writing and reading, I LOVE anime, especially Bleach, xxxHolic, Tsubasa: Resevoir Chronicle, and Trinity Blood to name a few. I'm also the captain of the Evil Love Guild here on Gaia. And yes, I'm gay, and I have a boyfriend whom I've been with for nearly 4 years now.

Hello, I'm Aven/Hitomi/Yuki. You can call me any of those, but I prefer Aven or Omi. I'm 13 years old and I am interested in learnign about Buddhism, because every single religion test I've taken (even the super diagnostic ones) say that my beliefs mostly match Buddhism. I've been interested in it anyways, so yeah xD I'm not good at introductions.
RANDOM FACT: My town has the largest reclining Buddha in my state if not the US :3 My old History teacher went to the temple and saw.
Okays, I guess I'll see you all in the guild somewhere! ^^

My name is Tsering and I am 20 years old. I'm Tibetan, which means im a Tibetan Buddhist. I joined this guild a while back but never really posted, just lurked around. I think the main reason i started posting in here is because im not gonna try to judge but most people on Gaia are idiots and i really needed some intelectual people to talk to. Ive been a buddhist my whole life and I've met many people who have chosen buddhism just because they like the values it upholds, well my opinion is:
If you want to practice compassion then do so, if you want to practice kindness then do so, if you want to practice love then just do it, you don't need buddhism to practice those. Just being a buddhist will not help you become a better person, being a better person will help you become a better buddhist.
I really thought that it was important to put that here since this is where all the new comers gather.
