Excited by his catch, the pup splashed around in the water in an attempt to catch another.
Cypher washed off a piece of his fruit, quickly digging into it once it was clean.

"Come on John. We'll split the one we have..." Jane insisted.

"But I can catch another!!"
The pup splashed around more, obviously tiring.
Cypher continued to eat, watching John casually.

"Leave some fish for tomorrow John..." Jane said, hoping to coax her mate from the chilly water.

"But I can do it!"
The pup made one last attempt at leaping on a fish, once again coming up empty pawed. Exhausted, John struggled his way towards the bank, the river trying it's best to sweep him away.
Cypher quickly dropped his fruit, taking to the air unsteadily and flying towards John. Once there, Cypher grabbed the struggling pup by the back of the shirt and attempted to drag him towards shore. He wasn't quite strong enough to lift John out of the water, but he did manage to pull him to shore.

Jane bounded to the shore to help. Assuring herself that John was alright first, her eyes fell upon Cypher. "Thank you," she said earnestly.

John lay on the shore, panting.
Cypher landed nearby, giving Jane a short nod.
"....you're welcome..."
Aha, now he'd have to be on their good side! Perfect.

Jane gave her mate a small nuzzle. "I told you to come back John," she sighed.

John panted, body shivering from the cold.
"But I know I could have caught another..."
Cypher sighed a bit.
"We have to get him warmed up..."

"Any ideas how to do that?" Jane asked, covering her mate with a wing for the time being.

John snuggled into the wing a bit, shivering.
"Yep...give me a minute..."
Cypher dashed off, gathering up some rocks and twigs. The pup formed a circle with the rocks, throwing the twigs in the middle. That done, he produced a small packet of matches from his coat.
"Humans are good for a few things..."
Taking a match in his maw, Cypher struck it against a rock and tossed it into the pile of twigs. The twigs soon caught figure, making a small blaze.
"Bring him over here...this'll warm him up."

Jane blinked at the fire, slightly bedazzled. Removing her wing, the female pup nudged her mate towards the fire. "Lets go John..."

John got to his paws shakily, moving over to the fire and flopping down beside it.
Cypher watched him a moment before turning to throw a couple more twigs into the fire.

Jane laid next to him, spreading her wing once more over his shivering form. Her clear blue eyes gazed into the fire curiously, pondering the possibilities of this heat source.

John snuggled into the wing once more, slowly warming back up.
Satisfied that the fire would last a while on it's own, Cypher plopped down near it. A few wing flaps had the markings on his wings looking like they were moving yet again.
