Having someone show him to his room, he immediatly checked for his sniper rifle. "Ah, still safe, my sweet." Caressing it for a moment, he gently put it back in its case, hiding it well once again. Examining his room, he found nothing out of place, it was the same basic design. In fact, it was the same design all around. Wonderful.

Deciding to go check things out, get to know the new base so he could then chut himself up in his room again, he began wandering the hallways. Nothing too different. Passing by the room Nico was in without even a glance, he smirked. In the end, nothing changes. Continuing to walk, he began whistling a little tune from his favorite video game.

Nico winced after she finished uploading another data byte, her shoulder apparently protesting at how she had reached over. Not that she could really blame it since it had a bullet hole in it.

"Do you wish to rest Nico? I detect slightly abnormal life signs-"

"No. I suspect if I don't get this all done ASAP Rob will have my head.....?" She drifted off into silence as she recognized the tune that was being whistled. Immediately her music toned down, her voice lifting into the air to finish the line, chuckling to herself. Though it didn't last long since it hurt. Ugh, gorram it all. Blinking as Voltaire popped up, she turned up the music a bit more again, smirking to herself as she listened to the song since it wasn't like she could really laugh. "Hey Gladys, do you detect any anomalies on any of the frequencies?" She asked, wanting to now switch her work to the firewalls and overall protection of their data. It troubled her that someone had shot that far into the system. They hadn't made someone with powers like that, had they?

"No Nico. All frequencies are reading clear. Might I suggest that you eat something? You have not eaten in at least five hours. I will spare you all the specific digits."

Groaning, she rubbed her eyes, her fingers sliding down on either side of her nose. She was quiet for a moment, trying to judge how her stomach felt. "Yea, that would probably be a good idea. I don't want to have to call Rob over though or someone to wheel me to the cafeteria. Are any bots up and moving?" Truthfully, one of the awesome things about this base is that; A) They actually got a cafeteria with a s**t ton more food and space. and B) They also had bots to help both with fighting and other tasks. She supposed it was also pretty awesome that the research wing was a lot bigger than the previous one though. Their security was better here too. At the very least she hoped so. It was supposed to be. If it weren't..... She didn't want to think about that.

"I shall activate and send one immediately. Here are the current menu items. Which would you like Nico?"

Picking out a couple of things rather quickly, she soon settled back into her chair a bit and listened to Ludo as they popped up. Glancing to the bandages of her shoulder, she sighed to see the faintest red tint in them, knowing she should probably let someone know. Then again, Rob would just kick and yell like a child since his prodigal girl wasn't there. Again she grimaced and lowered her eyes, listening as Andrew sang about crawfish.

Jane was rolled in near Nico, still rolling his eyes at the nurse who didn't seemed to get the fact that she was more than likely busy. Still, the nurse rolled him in and left him there, going off to fret about something else. He watched what she was doing calmly, smiling. "Hey." He said softly to her, not caring if she didn't hear him. To Jane, it didn't much matter if he was ignored, just as long as he bothered to inform her of his presence. Most of the scientists knew he just liked to watch Nico work, and it was of little to no consequence to them as he often forgot what he had done the day before.

His arm pained slightly to move, as his first hits were in the shoulder. Funny, it seemed that the only areas the bullets didn't hit were his vitals. What luck. Then again, they were probably planning to take him in alive, anyway.

The halls seemed deserted. They always seemed deserted. No one was ever around. It begged the question Where the hell is everyone? Unfortunately, though not surprising, no one ever answered. It was quiet enough to her your own footsteps, no matter how soft they be. His bbreathing also filled his ears. It was as though silence was a being in and of itself, lurking around every corner, behind every shadow, waiting to be broken. And through it's waiting, it becomes fragile, ever so weak, to where one word shatters it. So weak, so empty, so...nothing. Like the darkness. Silence is nothing. And nothing was one of the things Roran knew perfectly about. Being an energy bender allows him to fill himself up with life, but at the price of taking it from something else, causing them to be nothing.

Turning a corner, Roran had stopped whistling, listening instead to the silence, listening to the nothingness. He stopped, closing his eyes, letting the nothingness engulf him. And then it hit him, the screaming in his ears. For silence is loud, extremely loud. The buzzing raged on, for it was the blood rushing through his ears that he was hearing. It was the signal that lets you know silence is upon you, for there are no sounds to move your ear drum, and so you hear your blood. You hear the silence. You hear the nothing.

He exhaled, and the screeching in his ears disappeared as the sound of his breath filled them, letting him know he wasn't deaf. Opening his eyes slowly, he continued to walk through the hallways, stepping from one shadow to the next. One nothing to the next. And each step broke the silence. Broke the nothing.

Arriving back at the room with Nico and now Jane, he realized he had gone in a circle. "Now how did that happen?" he asked himself, looking in at the two. "You should really take a break," he spoke, not really caring if Nico heard, "Rob can scream at the walls all he wants, you're a human being. He'll get the hell over it. You're not here to be a computer whiz, you're here to train and be a warrior to fight. Don't let everyone else's expectations run your life, let your expectations do that. Who gives a s**t about what others think?" Sighing, he knew she wouldn't listen to him, or at least he didn't expect her to. Smiling at Jane, he didn't feel like playing the name game with the guy. Roran had nothing against him, but now just wasn't the time. "I'll catch you guys later. Get me if you need me." And with that, Roran returned to his room.

Nico perked up an ear as she heard another wheel chair, turning to see Jane get brought in. It made her smile to see him well, or at least about in a chair. He had been in such bad shape. "Hey there. How are you doing?" She asked, Gladys saving her data as she noticed how he didn't really move. It made a pang of empathy for how he seemed so frozen in place. She could at least move. Well, sort of.

Blinking as Roran had come back, her attention shifted to him with a raised eyebrow. "Layouts different than the last base. Cylindrical. More of a maze with extra floors thats filled with nothing but traps." She answered, making a mental note to double check on the protocols on all of them.

She was almost taken aback by what he said, lowering her eyes until she caught another bit of that movement out of her eyes. God, was she going nuts? She stared after the movement for a moment which was just past Roran outside the door frame off to the left, moving her mostly good arm to brush her bangs from her eyes. Honestly, she had no idea what to say after all that Roran had said, her hands now in her lap. "Alright, see ya." She finally spoke, at a loss. Well now she felt like she should be doing a personal reassessment of herself. Oi. He was right though. Then again, she had been burying her head in work so she wouldn't.... She heard that familiar giggle in her head and turned away, looking back up to the figures and lines of code on the screen. What am I doing? She sighed, her fingers almost twirling across the screen to shift some things about.

"Gladys, run some diagnostics on the new firewalls I just added up. Make sure the Alpha layer doesn't cause any contradictions with pre-existing requisites. And can you reprogram the one bot to take me to the greenhouse?" She rubbed her eyes with a hand, preferring to take a break where she could at least pretend she was out in a park. Leaning with a wince, she turned her chair to face Jane, tilting her head as she sat up straight in her chair, a hand going to the wound as it throbbed. "Do you want to come with? Or do you have something you'd rather do?" She asked him, a deep cackle echoing in her ears which she ignored for the moment since she didn't want Jane prying.

Jane smiled gently. "I'm better than anyone else would be if bullets put enough holes in them to make Swiss cheese." Okay, he hadn't understood a word of that, himself. Perhaps he should start saying things that he at least understood, eh? Nah, he wouldn't...it was better to just let others puzzle over what in the world he could possibly mean as he spoke.

The entire time Roran was in speaking to Nico, Jane was in a daze, attempting to remember who he was. Okay, so his memory was even worse than usual. But who would have good memory after losing as much blood as he did? Virtually no one. After Roran left, Jane spoke aloud quietly. "Who was that?" It bothered him not to know.

"Yeah, I'd like to come with. I'm not allowed to spar, after all." He joked. As if they would ever let him spar in his condition.

Nico chuckled a little at Jane's answer, shaking her head a bit. These advancements by Dreamer's was concerning her. If they were making their soldiers immune to their powers, what were they going to do? Grimacing, she smelled the approach of the bot before she saw it, smiling as she sniffed at the food it brought. She felt a little bad that Jane didn't have anything, but it wasn't like she had known he was coming.

Glancing after Roran, she blinked and took a bite of her eggs. "That was Roran Floral, our team mate. He's the energy bender." She explained, the bot extending both arms so it could push them, having them leave the room one at a time. "I apologize ahead of time that I won't be very talkative." She smirked, though it fell as she saw Rob come up. Sipping at her mocha, she raised an eyebrow to him.

"Oi, did you finish all those firewalls? We're barely at half capacity of where we were before. Where are you going?" He asked in his rapid cockney accent.

"Rob, it's called a break. Gladys is running diagnostics and she doesn't need me to do that. We're actually running at three quarters capacity since this system already has such a high security as it were. Or have you forgotten that?" She asked calmly, though there was an edge to her voice that few ever really heard. She noticed some heads pop out of the corners of their cubicles to listen and one glance from her made them go immediately back to work.

Rob seemed to shut up for a moment at that, glancing to Jane as the bot wheeled him up next to her. "No, but considering how easily they fried our system last time, don't you think you should-"

"THAT IS ENOUGH!" She roared, a lightbulb exploding over head. Closing her eyes for a moment, she sighed heavily, opening her dark eyes to look at him. "You got practically an entire floor of people who can do what I do. I'm not your ******** pet ok? Get me the next time you need a hack into Dreamer's system and not before. You already know that I work half the time anyways since I want to ensure we don't fail. The next time you start bossing me around I promise you, I will pop your lungs like balloons while giving you a new meaning to eating to your hearts content. Now, am I perfectly clear?" She spoke, her voice a strained calm again, the room having gone deathly silent.

It was hard to read Rob's face at that point, though it did flush with indignation. "Take your bloody break." He muttered, leaving the two of them be.

Another lightbulb shorted out overhead which made Nico sigh and rub her temples. That cackle echoed in her ears again which only made her wonder what the hell it was or rather, who? Since it didn't take precedence to the fact she had just threatened a guy who was sort of like her boss, she ignored it for now. "Oi... I'm probably going to receive a complaint I bet..." She muttered, the bot continuing to take them to the greenhouse. It was an entire floor with varying landscapes. Currently, they were wheeled to an elevator that would take them down to it.

Looking over to Jane, she sipped her mocha again, offering a piece of toast to him. "Sorry you had to see that." She murmured, now taking another bite of her eggs.

Jane frowned slightly at the mention that Roran was one of their team members. "I should have remembered him, shouldn't I have?" He asked softly, just before Rob came up and started to lecture Nico. Honestly, he was tempted to just release the pain he was feeling because the pain killer had just worn off.

He couldn't help but smile as he saw Nico yell back at Rob. Actually, right after it was finished he burst into laughter. Taking the toast, he grinned. "I was about to let him feel my pain, literally, if he hadn't shut up."

By now, Jane was used to ignoring his pain. After all, if he didn't the rest of the people working with them would feel it as well. As they were wheeled forward, Jane remembered the memory that he'd dreamed about. "Hey, Nico...while I was out, I-I remembered something."

Nico had almost not heard Jane's initial question, remembering it as they descended down the base, taking her last bite of egg. "Yeah, you probably should have. But I mean, you have amnesia. Can't really blame you right?" She answered, glad to see him take the toast. She smirked at his response, chuckling a bit as she looked up when they came to a stop and where wheeled out in one of the floors that was around the middle of the base. In relation to their rooms, it was only a floor away. However, like she had said earlier, the entire building was built in with fake floors that were nothing but traps and mazes. Elevator still had to move past them in order to give off the illusion that they were real. So in reality, they had traveled about three levels down.

Sipping at her mocha, she paused before lowering the glass, having heard what he had said. "Oh? What was it this time? More about your parents?" She asked softly, tilting her head a bit as her dark eyes fell upon him.

"I-I saw my father's face." Jane stammered slightly, thinking carefully. One part of him wondered if Nico would know it. "The man had a light stubble, a square head, sharp features...and orange eyes." He hadn't seen anyone, excluding himself, with those brilliant orange eyes. Perhaps he had described his father to Nico in hopes that she knew who he was...so that he might know something, anything.

Nico's eyebrows raised, that was a major improvement. She almost asked what he looked like, but Jane was already describing the man, and she felt her stomach drop out when he described the man's eyes. She paused in her bite into her toast, the bot seeming to tilt it's head but it remained silent. It was probably observing the changes in her heart rate and temperature. Two people. Only two people had had those eyes. "Do you remember anything else about this man?" She asked quietly, briefly distracted as the glass doors parted to let them into a room that smelled refreshingly of flowers and fresh cut grass.

"I knew two men with such eyes and they were brothers. The funny, or ironic, thing about them was what side they were respectively on. The Teagan brothers, Joseph and Anton. Anton was a co-worker of my mothers and may have been one of the doctors taking care of my brother. Joseph was one of the first people I met when I joined here. He..." She paused, trying to think of a kind way to put it. "He's been missing after an infiltration mission and is presumed dead." She elaborated softly as she listened to the change in sound, their wheels muffled, the sound of running water coming from a bit ahead of them, a breeze rustling the leaves of the trees above.

"I- no. I don't remember anything more." Jane said quietly, wishing he did. He listened carefully to Nico, to the surroundings. It was so surreal, being right here. If only...if only he knew which one it had been. How old had he been in that memory? Six or seven still. Why was that year the one he was remembering? It bothered him. "Wait- I remember his hair. It was a vivid red, not orange like mine. It was chopped short, almost like a soldiers..." He added quietly, perhaps that would make a difference. Well, considering both of them, he was either the son of the enemy- or his father was presumed dead. Hm... He was certain that the name Teagon seemed slightly familiar. Heck, it was extremely familiar.

Nico found herself no longer hungry, instead only finishing off her mocha as she stared ahead at the river that wound it's way through the setting. She seemed distant, remembering how she had been when she'd first arrived. It made her chuckle and shake her head sadly. Only a few days after it hit the two month line of her having run from home. Oi had she been a mess.

She closed her eyes a moment, letting the wind brush past her as she seemed briefly like an old woman in her chair as she awaited death. But as soon as the moment had come, it was gone. "Joseph. There is a chance that Anton has kept him alive. I know the two of them valued family highly and they both still loved the other as a brother despite their differences of belief. Anton only wanted a better world and thought Dreamer's would bring it. Joseph argued that those people would merely be shells of who they were. Not truly alive." Her voice grew distant, pausing a moment before she turned her gaze to her team mate. "I'm sorry. I ramble. I do hope he is still alive though. He was always good at sneaking."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 03, 2010 1:02 pm

Jane looked at Nico, taking a deep breath. So...his father...there was no telling if he was actually alive or not. He was glad to know, at least. It was better to know than to keep guessing. Again, he found himself wondering what was so special about twelve years ago- why was he remembering that part of his past? "Nico, did anything special happen about twelve years ago? I'm around six years of age in both of the memories- and I'm wondering why those are the first things I'm remembering."

As Nico's hair was brushed, his stomach quenched. Why did that short-seen image bother him so? Was it just that he was growing close to her? Or was some part of him remembering something similar? There was no way of knowing. A deep breath. "Sorry about all the questions..."

Roran was looking straight ahead, a wall masking whatever lay outside the building. The wall was bland, nothing there, just paint. Maybe a few coats, he couldn't tell, though he assumed. He had left his room, bored out of his mind, and a little upset that they had swapped bases. He did not like this one very much. Too confusing, for him at least.

The real reason for staring at the wall was the fact that it was a dead end. Nothing more beyond. So he envisioned a valley, the sun setting on it, turning the green grass golden. Letting out a soft sigh, he turned from his valley, looking down the corridor again. Beginning to walk once more, he didn't care where he wound up, so long as he kept busy for another tedious day.
