As they climbed, she was keeping a keen eye out. Her paranoia had been struck for some reason that she wasn't sure of. But it was better to be safe than sorry she supposed. She waited until they were a fair distance up before starting to climb. This time instead of pulling them up the rocks she was a foothold and push up from time to time. There were no rest periods on this climb however, as there were really no places to rest and it was just best to keep pushing through until the reached the top. A place from which it sounded like a very faint music was being played, even to their ears.

The top of the waterfall was probably not what one was expecting. The water came out of a cave in the mountain backdrop, most likely a runoff river from higher up. The banks lined in various reeds and such as one would expects, a few little standing pools as well. The odd part however were the columns of stone. Various sizes and riddled with holes, scattered about the place. "Here we are. Please try not to break anything." And she took to searching...though what was anyone's guess.

Randall was quiet as he made his way up the rock face, it was going to be a long climb but he could do it. Still, at least he wasn't looking up at Key this time and so all he had to focus on was the next rock he could grab; but there were times when he could feel someone pushing from below, only to see it was Key, he was surprised but he bet she wanted to get to the top quickly. Though as they got close he noticed that something was playing music, which confused him even more.

When they reached their destination Randall paused as he brushed himself off and looked around. What amazed him was the columns with holes inside them, never saw anything like it. "Oh boy..." That sixth sense of his pricked up a little and Randall shook his head, holding out a hand to steady himself. "Alright, I'm good." He saw Key take off and he followed her quickly so he wouldn't loose sight and find out why they were there. "Break what?"

Lucan got up there and took a look around. the pillars he guessed were a way to amplify the 'Wind' through the holes and through them...but he withdrew his sword and held it out to Kay since she had stated she was going to need it for something.

"I think she's reffering to the pillars. they might be more fragile then they appear to be."

"Yes the pillars. Do you hear the sound they make?" Indeed, the little breezes of wind through the pillars was making that music like sound they had heard on the way out. There was a definite layout to them but what they were part of or made up at one point was beyond time for now. But she took Lucan's sword and studied the runes that ran down the blade before walking to each pillar and looking around them, matching up symbols on the blade to those on the pillar. "Do you know what each of the symbols on the blade represent?"

"And they've been out here this whole time?" By the look of the pillars they were made a long time ago, and placed out in the open was odd for the creators unless they knew that barely anyone would come up to see them. Still Randall followed quietly as it seemed that Key was up to something with Lucan's sword, but he managed to see that the runes on the blade did match up to what they saw on the pillar's. "No..." But Randall guessed that they meant something or they wouldn't be on the blade and pillar, damn old things made his brain hurt.

"Only a little. I know they are runes of protection and empowerment. I've seen the blade burn and crackle when it came in contact to magical defenses. and I've felt my armor seem to be stronger, enhanced while wielding it. But I don't know much beyond that. It's been in the family a long time. anyone that might have known what they originally said or their full purpose has passed on."

a small smile watching her.

"I take it these might have been made to enhance the Wind, to make it easier for those without hearing, or weak hearing, to listen."

"When people could fully Hear, there was an actual written language derived from it all. I don't know how they interperted the symbols into what they look like from what they Heard, but it became something established. Mostly used by scholars. Very few could write it."

Giving a little nod. "Not just to enhance but for the enjoyment of both person and Wind. Think of this as...a place of worship almost. To come here to seek answers perhaps." Still trying to line up runes from sword and pillars before she handed the blade back and took out some paper and charcoal, making some rubbings. Though a breeze rustled her hair by her ears a little more unnaturally than usual and she straightened.

"Come here, both of you." Motioning them to follow her, she waded into the water some where the torent of river was parted by rocks and such. Not so coincidently in the middle of the pillars. Standing there she merely closed her eyes. "Just Listen." Maybe they would Hear, maybe not. She merely asked of them what was being asked of her.

a moment to take off his shin guards and legplates, and following suit after Key. after all a place of worship, even an old one should be shown some respect and not have it's waters sullied with dirt and mud. a glance around at the location, and a shrug and closing his eyes to see if he could hear what she was listening to, or for.

"Huh." well that was interesting to know, though he wondered just how many races and how many people who could hear the Wind back then. The world was a different place then, maybe then they weren't all fighting. But he continued to listen as Key did her best to explain the whole purpose of the Wind itself. But when she asked him to follow her into the water Randall blinked but did as he was told, he then found himself standing right next to her as she told them to just listen. So Randall then closed his eyes and lowered his head, trying to see if he can hear anything other than the wind blowing past his ears.

She had no idea what would transpire with them. She was merely still doing what she was told after reaching this place. It was testing them just as it had tested her one day. Meanwhile she focused on herself, how the wind played around her ears and with her hair. However in the simple breeze she also heard that which had been leading her. The Wind was once again speaking to her, giving her direction and knowledge. All the while the area around them was softly becoming more frequent in the somewhat of a song that was emanating from the columns.

He knew how to listen, he knew patience...but this wasn't a battlefield, and this wasn't keeping his cool while a hotheaded noble mouthed off. but there were whispers, hints of voices, but it seemed they were drifting, the hard you tried to concentrate on them, the weaker they got.

members of his family used to be able to hear the Wind. they had close ties to elfkin, hence the sword that his family earned as elf friends...but that talent was weak and faded. it was passed mostly as a powerful insight...his family made good military members because they seemed to adjust and react quicker then most would think.

"I hear only faint whispers of words. I can't really make things out, but I can hear them. like someone whispering, but not close enough to really hear. a hint of words."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:19 pm

Randall stayed quiet and absolute still, his neck had started to bother him but he ignored it, he kept his mind clear as best as he could as he knew that since he never heard the Wind before, he needed complete concentration to see if he could hear anything. He never knew anyone who could hear the Wind so he had to wonder if he could pick up anything.

But as he happened to think if he could hear anything he started to hear something, whispers at first and he believed it to be one of the others, but it sounded different when the mutterings were getting louder and he could tell that the voices were different. After a minute or two Randall opened his eyes and raised his head. "Patience." He blinked and looked at the other two with a puzzled expression. "All I heard was "Patience.""

She was perhaps a little surprised that they were getting anything. Yet what she could Hear probably was stronger than what they did, for right now that sentient force of Wind was rejoicing in her own ears at knowing that others were still able to pick up the hints. "You should then consider yourselves saved from the mire that the rest of all our people have become." She opened her eyes and turned to look at them again. "I Hear many things...sometimes strongly, other times as if it is dying breath. Yet still...I know not what I am supposed to be doing." It was always leading her, trying to tell her something but it had yet to give her the solid answers. "Warnings."

Another play of wind in her hair around her ears, making them twitch. It told her to do things but some things asked were not of her ability. It wanted them. But it wasn't like she could drag them along as hostages or something similar. "I must continue on." Looking toward the mountains at that...seemed she was always being pulled higher.

"would you like my assistance still on your trip?"

glancing at her and the direction she was looking in. that was still getting closer toward the mountain paths that eventually lead to the human capital...so not out of his way. and this hint of Hearing was intriging to say the least.

Randall was still pondering over what the Wind told him, out of all the words why patience? Was there something they want him to take his time with? He wouldn't know unless the Wind told him more but he had a feeling that was all he was ever going to get. When Key spoke of how she conversed with the Wind Randall looked at her with a bit of interest, and he had to wonder if she dragged them to the sacred place to see if they could Hear, that was probably the case. "I'll come along, if you don't mind my company. Since I'm this far into it all I would rather see the rest of the way." He smiled to that as he looked at the elf, she was going to have companions if she liked it or not.
