Dark Maiden Eilistraee

PostPosted: Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:23 pm

A sudden cool wind rustled through the air around the encampment, as though a lady's quiet breath.

A cloaked figure, yet to add to their numbers tonight, moved outside the clearing and towards the crackling firelight.

It was as a bedraggled human traveler, worn with wandering. The old woman hobbled, stopping short of a tree to catch her breath.

Annoi smiled at the lady and gave a small bow. "It is an honor to meet those of my husband's family." As she looked back up the image of another person outside the ring of campfires caught her eyes. "Excuse me," she said to Cyn'gus and his aunt. With those words, Annoi moved quickly to the supply tent and grabbed a warm blanket. Holding it securely she moved out towards the figure standing near a tree. "Hello, visitor. I bid you welcome to the Outpost." She gave the cloaked person a smile and held the folded blanket out. "We would be honored if you would join us at the fires. There is a fresh stew waiting to be eaten and a hot meal in the cold is often quite welcome." She stopped speaking, slightly aware of the fact she was rambling, and stood quietly before the visitor with the blanket still outstretched.

Lady Zeenat

“I am very happy to finally meet you”, Zee said bowing in return. "I have heard great things about you and Cyn'gus' family, it is an honor to be here"

After Annoi and her exchanged smiles and nods, it was apparent that a new visitor had made thier way to the Outpost. When Annoi took her leave to welcome the new guest, Zee followed Cyn'gus to meet the injured dark elf maiden who had just awoke from a deep trance.

"Vendui child" She said kneeling next to Alantha, "I am Zeenat of the Sisterhood in the Path of Moonlight. I have come from far to meet you."

Alantha jumps a bit when Zeenat walked up to her. She shakes her head a bit, trying to shake her thoughts away. "I am Alantha...it is a pleasure to met you, but, why have you come all this way just for me sister?" She wasn't used to people coming to her aid, most of the time she simply had to heal on her own. But she had enough on her mind then to question anything.

[So, sorry for the rather long entry post. I tend to be a little long winded with my writing.]

The Drow had traveled for many days through the wilds of Undergaia to reach this point, a feat not attempted by many Drow. Weary, his swords still wet from his most recent kill, Draer Er'shydrae stepped out onto the surface world for the first time. The sword he held in his right hand, though initially rather normal looking other then a slight coating of ice, burst into a shower of ice and frost, covering the blade with it's swirling shower that continually was summoned from within its enchanted form. Though Draer had not summoned its magic himself, he knew the weapon was reacting to the moon that shown above him, as it hadn't seen such wonderful, holy light in a long, long time.

For this blade had been forged of the moon's magic, a blade of a priestess of Eilistraee, long gone who had long ago taught Draer of what it meant to be a follower of the Dark Maiden. His cloak, also blessed by the power of the goddess, seemed to shine bright and clean in the rays of light emanating off of the moon despite the long, treacherous journey that now lay behind the Drow.

Draer himself gazed at the moon in wonder. It was far beyond anything he could ever have imagined. Though the light stung his eyes badly he could not look away from the symbol that had come to be so dear to him. His holy symbol, the clip that held his cloak around his symbol that could hid it's true shape, a crescent moon, at the approach of any who would prosecute the follower of Eilistraee by transforming into a black spider, now shown bright and clear as the moon shaped symbol it was.

Eventually because of Draer's shear exhaustion, he was forced to look away. Studying his surroundings with the eyes of one trained to see what others could not, see danger where even the most intent might miss, Draer searched for anything that might hint at a double cross, a trick by the mistress's of his home to lure any unwitting betrayers of the Spider Queen out into the open. Instead, all he saw was an encampment that looked to be exactly what he had heard it would be. A camp for followers of his goddess.

Draer moved into the camp and, though he did not yet sheath his scimitars, he did move more at ease, more accepting that he may have found a place of friends. He had spent his entire life avoiding death, attempting to stay alive so he could find others who also had the potential to escape the evils of Lolth. Several times he had barely escaped with his life. Because of this life that he had lived, Draer could not completely let go of his suspicions. At least not until he was completely sure.

Observing the massive campfire in the middle of the camp, he approached one of the tents surrounding the fire and slowly sheathed his blades, carefully keeping his hands within reach of the hilts so he could quickly unsheathe them should the need arise. Several others stood around the camp that he could see, and he did not know how they would react to a stranger wandering into camp.

Lady Zeenat

PostPosted: Sat Jan 23, 2010 11:17 pm

With a kind smile, Zee listened to Alantha’s sincere response. She responded back, looking into the young maiden’s eyes, ”Do not be afraid my child, all will become clear soon. First, allow me to remove the pain you are feeling.”

Setting down her staff, Zee carefully reached out and gently placed her hands on Alantha’s side. With eyes closed and a prayer on her lips, a soft blue glow emanated from the priestess’ palms. Divine magic flowed through Zeenat and into Alantha, mending broken ribs and healing inflamed tissues. After a few moments, the glow subsided and the high priestess opened her eyes to look upon the young woman.

In the short time Zee had laid her hands on Alantha, she had made a brief connection to her and was able to feel the pain she was feeling. She moved one hand away and place the other over her heart saying, ”While I can remove the pain of bruises and broken bones, I can not remove the pain you feel here. I am very sorry for your loss dear, I can empathize with you. And while I can not replace the emptiness you feel in your heart, I can show you how to fill it with the love of our goddess who calls to you. She has a message for you that I have come from such a long distance to give to you: “A rightful place awaits you in the Realm Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow.” Come, and claim your birthright.”

Silence was the one to notice the new visitor wandering toward the main fire. The blades in his hands caused her to raise an eyebrow as she stood to greet him. Gathering a bedroll and a bowl of hot stew, she moved toward him. "Hello and welcome to the Outpost. I'm Silence." Her hands held the bedding and the steaming bowl as it rested on her belly. "If you put the weapons down you can take this collection from me.... Preferably the bowl first or the baby might get upset with me..." She gave a smile and held it out to him.

Draer, feeling a little more at ease now that someone had approached in friendly way, quickly took the bowl from the women that named herself Silence with an appreciative nod. With his other, free hand, he took the bedroll as well and set it on the ground behind him.

"Many thanks for the bedroll and food. The journey from my hometown is long and treacherous. Please tell me, I am in the camp of the Goddess of the Moon, am I not?"

Though he believed that any follower of Lolth would have attempted to strike him down at first site upon seeing his holy symbol, Draer felt it necessary to ask, just to be certain. He was sure he would be able to tell if the women lied, though something in his gut made him sure he knew what the answer would be without having to be told. The night was simply to pristine, to filled with the presence of Eilistraee for it not to be the place he sought.

Silence frowned slightly as she searched for the answer to his question. "Well... I don't really follow her, but Cyn'gus does and I have a feeling that the lady by Alantha does too so I'd say you are in the right place." She smiled and rested a hand on her belly. "You're more than welcome to stay as long as you please." Her voice dropped to a whisper, "I'd suggest staying away from the fire with the pot of medicine in it. The smells are terrible."

Alantha watches Zee as she heals her broken ribs, which ease her pain greatly. But if Zee had moved her hands just a bit lower, she would have felt why Alantha was worried. "Thank you sister, as much as your prayers worked, I'm afraid my heavy heart will need more then that to heal." She wets her lips slowly and looks around the camp site. Her eyes fall down as she moves closer to Zee.

She takes a deep breath as she thinks on what to say. "My husband an I...we..were trying for another child...I've have prayed to Eilistraee...it seems I have gotten my wish...not that it means much now of course..."

Smiling as Silence stated that there were followers of Eilistraee in the camp, Draer had to remind himself to contain his excitement for fear of appearing strange. He had only ever known a single follower of Eilistraee other then his parents, the priestess that had originally taught him the ways of the Dark Maiden, and for a long time he had never expected he would have the opportunity to meet more. His time in Undergaia had been spent avoiding the Priestesses of Lolth, and though he had tried, he had never had much luck in converting others to the religion he held so dear. But now he would be able to speak to others of the faith! Actual people who worshiped the same Goddess, the oh-so-beloved Goddess, that he did. He felt a joy he had rarely known, one that he could barely keep contained inside of him. For the one of the first times in his life, his smiles was very genuine.

"I will undoubtedly stay for some period of time, at the very least," Draer said to Silence. "And thank you for the advice, I will indeed avoid it. Is there any chance I could speak with one of the two you mentioned? I would very much like to have a chance to speak with another follower of the Dark Maiden. Where I'm from, you see, there aren't many others who believe as I do. In fact, the only followers of Eilistraee I have ever met in the Starless Sea was the priestess that originally taught me of the faith when I was old enough to understand it and my parents, who died when I was young. There is no rush, of course, but if you could mention to them that I am here, I would be very thankful."

Silence and Sorrow

PostPosted: Sun Jan 24, 2010 10:22 am

Silence had to stop herself from laughing as the boy smiled and asked about meeting with the followers. "Shouldn't be a problem." She turned and yelled, "Cyn'gus, come here." Turned back with a smile she said, "He's the best to talk to now since he's not doing anything. If you want more food it's in the main fire. You can bed down near any of the other fires and if you stay up late enough you can join in the dice games.... There's a blind elf here that plays rather well." She laughed softly and began to wander off, rubbing her belly and talking to the baby all the while.

Alantha turns her head to see Silence talking to a young man. She was surprised to see that more new followers were coming into the camp. She turns to Zee for a moment. "Pardon me.." She turns and walks up to Silence. "Hello Silence, who is you new friend?"

"No idea" Silence answered Alantha with a smile. "He hasn't said his name yet and I wont press. You can go talk to him if you want though." She looked at Alantha and spoke softly. "Congratulations, too. I heard what you told the lady and it's good to have another pregnant elf here with me."
