Oop. *Luke juts for it, barely gets it, and hits it back to Maggie at a poor angle.*

*Maggie lets out a little surprised noise and tries to swing to hit it back, but misses completely. The ball goes flying behind her - she laughs as she goes to retrieve it* 'Tis a bit tricky, isn't it?

Aye, *Maggie agrees good-naturedly, returning to the table and tossing the ball back to him once more*

*Luke explained more of the rules as they played and Maggie started to get the hang of it.*
... The game ends once someone hits 21. Then you can have a rematch, if you want to defend your honor.
*comments* You know - for someone coming from the middle of the 16th century - You catch on pretty fast.

Ehm . .. thank ye. *Maggie smiles a little self-consciously* I think 'tis likely just from coming here for so long. Most everyone has been very kind te help teach me about the things I am unfamiliar with . . . so I daresay I'm becoming a bit more accustomed te learning.

Wow. *Luke hadn't really thought about it too much before that he could be coming here - well - forever. He frowns a little. He taps the ball back.*
*sarcastic* That's reassuring.

*Maggie studies his face a moment, and by doing so misses the ball. She scoops it up and looks at it thoughtfully for a moment* It is and it isn't, I suppose. *she replies, more sincerely*
I am glad te keep returning, te see the people here I care for, and te keep learning the things that I cannot in my own time . .. *she tosses the ball back and then frowns slightly* But sometimes . .. *her voice goes quiet, and she doesn't specify, but it's clearly the Seraphim she's thinking of*

*Maggie thinks about that for a long moment before replying* I . . . if 'twere only me at risk . . . *she looks off at some point in the distance* I love coming te the Brink. Truly, I do. The people here have come te mean so much te me. 'Tis been . . . like having a family, here. And I am so changed for having known ye all . . .
But Will ... *she bites her lip* 'Tis not worth any harm coming te him. Nothing could be. And he's in danger from my being involved in all this ... I .... *she trails off*
Forgive me, I'm going on ...

*Luke frowns. He puts down the paddle and leans both his hands on the ping pong table.*
No, you're right. We can't stop coming -now-. Not now that our lives are involved outside it.

*Maggie nods, following suit by setting her paddle down as well*
Aye . . . e'en if I had the choice te stop, I dinna feel as though I could just walk away from it. I dinna know what I would do. In a strange way . . . and perhaps I'm mad te think it, but part of me is almost glad 'tis out of my hands. ...

*Luke stares at her for a moment, frowning hard at the statement. She's -glad- it's out of her hands? WTF? ******** that. If Luke had the choice....*
*His eyebrows go up and some realization comes across his face. He takes a long minute to think. And Luke knows what he would choose. It's not as simple as either of Maggie's choices, but he knows.*
*looks up* I guess that's where we're different.
