"We're still in the river but I don't know how long along we are," Lin replied, "I took a nap some time after they got the sails and started catching wind, and I haven't asked how long it's been."

Though she figured they must be making good time. She glanced around and saw indeed Senka was happily taking a nap, she seemed to like the rocking of the boat, it made her sleepy. Her foxes though were scattered around the room and coming at her in a small quartet herd now that their owner was here.

"I'm going back out, want to come?"

Kaito thought about it a moment, then nodded. "There will be plenty of time to sleep later," he murmured, climbing slowly from the bed. "Who knows when's the next time we'll see land?"

He stretched his entire body, including his wings and tail, and then he cricked his neck and padded over to Lin. "After you," he smiled, motioning towards the door.

Lin grinned and told her butterflies to stay close to her. She knew they wanted out but she wanted them close because she didn't know how flying and sailing would affect things. She preferred them on her, rather than flitting about like they normally did.

She walked back out onto the deck and pushed back a stray lock of hair away from her face as she looked out at the banks. Lin could really see how it was moving now, much faster than before.

Kaito blinked and squinted as he stepped out on deck after Lin. It was quite bright out. The sun was high in the sky: and yet, despite the fact that it had to be at least the middle of the day, if not the middle of the afternoon, he couldn't feel the desert heat that he had grown used to over the past few weeks. "Cool breeze," he commented, following after Lin. He kept his wings tucked tightly against his back so that they wouldn't catch the wind. Sure, they were big enough for him to fly, but that didn't mean he wanted to fly off the ship.

Rhea was the first one to spot the two, and she waved them over to join her and Earendil and Leyenda. Close as they were, her words were lost in the wind. She looked a bit wet by this time - they all did - and as the bow of the ship rose and dipped, some of the wake splashed over the edge of the ship, giving an answer to how that had happened.

Lin glanced at the water that had splashed over the edge of the ship, and chuckled a bit. So that's what had happened she thought as she approached the trio carefully. Like Kaito her wings were tightly against her body, though not tight enough to not allow little foxes to crawl under her wings.

They weren't stupid despite the fact they did have small brains, they didn't like water and saw the water splashing over so they took cover under her wings.

"What did you say?" Lin asked when she got close enough.

Rhea giggled, though that sound was also lost in the wind. "I said," she replied loudly, though it was still barely audible, "welcome back!"

Leyenda put one hand on Lin's shoulder and leaned close. "We're going faster than any horse could ever run," she told her, "so watch your footing. It'll be slippery now, since it's wet, and if you fall there's nothing soft to land on."

Kaito turned his back to the wind. "It's like being in a car at top speed without a roof or seatbelts," he muttered to himself - though he would admit it was kind of fun.

Lin couldn't hear him since he was muttering to himself and the wind wasn't helping. Though if she had she would say that was a very scary analogy. Lin wasn't overly fond of cars, well they weren't bad as long as someone sane was driving it.

"I will," Lin replied leaning in so she could be heard.

Leyenda smiled, then motioned for them all to go and stand where Celeb was still petting Whisper, since, it being away from the bow, it would be a bit quieter and they would have an easier time talking there.

Once they were there, Leyenda smiled at Lin again. "We're making good time," she told her. "At this rate, we can be there before nightfall, and after we eat we'll be able to unload the caravels. It might not even be too late a night!"

"Which is good," Earendil added, "since I think we could all use a proper sleep." He grinned at Lin.

There was a thought, it would be nice to be able to finish everything and still have enough of the night left.

"I had trouble sleeping last night that's all," Lin told Earendil, "And I'm sure you did too."

Though she couldn't confirm that because he was quite awake still.

"Sure, a bit," Earendil laughed, "but I've been waiting sixty one years for this ... there's no way I'm going to let myself sleep through it!"

Leyenda stared at Earendil. "That's a long time."

Earendil chuckled and nudged Lin gently. "Blame her," he grinned. "Taking so long to grow and all." He laughed again and winked at Lin.

Lin stuck her tongue out playfully at Earendil, "It only took me five years."

Technically for her it had only been five years of growing and wheedling her father for more training. Even though for him it had been about sixty one years, the time difference between the two was startling at times.

Leyenda looked at Lin in amazement, then Earendil, and then back at Lin. "Mother explained to me about the time difference," she said, her voice filled with awe, "but I had no idea that it was so extreme ..."

Rhea laughed. "You get used to it after a while," she smiled at Leyenda. "Lin's been visiting my home since long before I was born."

"And the real kicker is my parents have been seeing your grandparents before your parents were born," Lin replied.

She had heard the stories after all, she was very well aware of how long her parents knew Ulani and Ulrich though she could never imagine the Borderlands being that empty now.

Now it was Rhea's turn to be amazed. "That was something I didn't know," she laughed. "I know Father was young when Cindy first came, but I didn't know that your family had been here even before he had been born ..."

"Me neither," Kaito spoke up, blinking in surprise. "But Tou-san had never been there at that time, had he?"

Earendil glanced at Kaito. "I know your parents first visited us when I was already an adult," he told him, "but I don't know about his first visit to the Borderlands." He looked to Lin for an answer.

Lin shook her head, "No, the first time they ever visited the Borderlands was to take your mother back home. Yukito theorizes that there are holes between this world and ours, that's how Elnara-sissy ended up in Gaia and grandfather ended up here."

She grinned and then continued.

"Story goes, that Triton was traveling with your mom back to the Southland, I don't know where they ended up at first, but it was far away from the Borderlands. Nina, you know the Kirin who never talks straight hide in Triton's bag. Mom came to get her back but ended up... I believe right on the road outside of the valley, probably a day or more farther away. Dad on the other hand was left behind, because this was before he confessed to being in love. He entered through, and ended up right outside Ulani and Ulrich's house."

She paused for a moment and then added.

"And of course Yukito and Yue ended up all the way in the Southland palace, this was before we established portals so you could pretty much end up all over the place as it was proven."
