"That's Halteth," the dark haired candidate mumbled, "Why is he so disgruntled?" Zia looked up at the brown in wonder, she had no qualms with girls riding browns, the dragon chooses who the dragon chooses. K'ban's shout was concerning, couldn't Talis get in a lot of trouble for this? Where would she go? Telgar wouldn't take her.

"Thank goodness the fighting has ended, perhaps the other bronze and the green will find theirs without any..hiccups," Zia nodded along with her own words, happy to babble her own soliloquy.

Zia wriggled her toes in her sandals again, the warm sand seeping in through the sides. This was turning out to be the most interesting hatching the girl had attended.

Nadia saw the healers coming over to tend to the injured and she sighed in relief glad to know that they'll be okay, more then enough blood had been spilt lately there was no need for more. Watching the dragons she grinned when she saw that they had finally decided to impress, hopefully now the would be a little clamer then before. Relaxing some she turned her attenion back to the clutch glad to know that for now there was no danger to the unhatched egg or the ones protecting them.

Kestra was amongst those who cheered – for the fighting stopped, for impressions made and for a sexy female brownrider coming to the rescue. And if anyone had any problem with that, sod off back to Telgar.

Mishal mean while was happy to head back to where most of the boys were, having followed the fighter’s reasonably closely. He smiled, hoping things could get back on track and looking towards the hope giving gold egg and it’s bronze n’ green guardians. Chaos ended. For now. This was a clutch that kept you on your toes.

Leicha inwardly gave a sigh of relief at the bellow, finally glad that at least one dragon would break tradition and aid those who lay scattered about the sands, though his face remained stone hard as he looked out at the bloodied dragonets before him. This was ridiculous, it shouldn't have happened this way.

He'd never seen two dragons fighting before, what was so different about this clutch? The Bronze was so protecting of the Gold egg, along with the green whom he had admired for her colors, that Leicha couldn't help but think that the beast beneath that shell must be something amazing, beyond anything they would all see.

Still, he was rather glad he'd managed to make it out of this relatively unscathed, though for Panata. . .

- - ---

Panata was glad to see the fighting stop, to know that they had made their choices and would know grow, but for a brief flicker of a moment he felt incredabily frightened. Larger dragons, larger angry dragons - meant possible danger. If if they would not harm a human as they had now, would he still have to be scared of them? Would he fear the bronze for acting as he had, or would he simply take this all as a lesson to never leave his spot?

He wasn't sure, but at least he was glad he'd managed to stay on his feet for all of this. If Panata was still standing then he still had a chance to Impress, and he did not wish to lose any opportunity. Something like this . . wouldn't stop him.

A'ras glanced around Havocath to see the green and rider...He looked up at Hav for a moment getting the name. "Well you've missed...several happy dragonets and one that even found someone in the stands. Then those two." he said as he pointed down at the mess of brown and bronze. "They've got a few injured candidates down there but..."

Then the brown flew in and the young dragonets separated reluctantly. "...it seems like everything is under control now." He paused rather curious about this moment. He was surprised that D'astel's bronze didn't take charge here. But, well someone did and that was enough for now.

So. Things were calm.

Then the Pot of Gold Egg gave a jump.

Nevermind!

Nearly everyone turned their attention to the future queen. The female candidates, especially, held their breath and waited. But the dragon inside would not be rushed into acting so improper as to break out like some sort of monster. Oh, no. Goodness no!

The gold stuck her nose out of the top of the egg and crooned out at the other two hatchlings. Like a puppet on strings with the queen making her move, the green helped to carefully, slowly, peel the egg shells away.

The gold shook off any left overs. Now, before everyone, stood the small but mighty, shining new queen of High Reaches Weyr.

Gyl could only stare in awe as the Gold emerged from her egg.

She was beautiful, she was glorious, she was everything that High Reaches needed and more. He was awestruck by the newly-hatched Gold's majestic beauty, as he should be. Even Yvath stuck her head out of the fold that she had retreated into to catch a glimpse of the beautiful Queen as she emerged.

Amoreth could not contain her amusement as the Queen had her subjects strip the shell away from her body. She shone brightly, like a star poised to light up the night sky, studying them through her magnificent eyes. Indeed, this lady was royalty--she looked as remarkable as her mother, but had her own sense of unique beauty as well. The artist in her began to try to describe her, but to no avail. She, the Wordsmith, was at a loss for words.

The young woman heard the gasps of those around her and, indeed, her own breath sucked in through her teeth. This was the new Queen, the pride of any clutch, and how magnificent she was.

Ayishia, like every other female standing on those sands, had their attention on the gold egg the moment it even quivered. At the first sight of gold hide, her breath caught. Not for the fact that she may have had the SMALLEST chance of impressing her, but because the shining, gleaming gold hide meant so much for the Weyr. It was clear this queen would have everyone eating out of her claws in no time, to judge the way she directed the green at her side to help her out of the shell in such a dainty fashion. Ayi waited patiently for the gold to become settled out in the world, but couldn't help feel the familiar pang of worry of inadequacy for ANY dragon.

It seemed almost fitting that after the fight, it would be the queen to hatch - and a beautiful queen she was! Small, but lovely. No wonder the Sunrise bronze, as well as the Tye Dye green, had been so intent on protecting her. Belram understood now why the bronze had waited, and it brought a smile to his face as he watched the newborn gold. Even if she was for the girls, and the girls alone, he couldn't help but appreciate the the newly-hatched beauty.

Jaylin breathed a sigh of relief as the brown dragon seemed to take control of the situation, calming the feuding brothers. "Heh, I don't envy you," he murmured to the chosen, rubbing his ear. Agh, the ringing! Thankfully it was dying down and fading, but Jaylin figured that he and the other Candidates would have trouble hearing for some time -- especially his fellow male ones.

The gold egg made her move, and Jaylin focused his attention on her. He watched quietly as the green dragonette helped her out, then glanced to the female candidates to see what they were doing.

At least they weren't yelling orders like they were at the two feuding dragons. Or at least, he thought he heard some shrieks. It was hard to tell from the bronze and brown's shrieks earlier.

It was true, Zia really did hold her breath, here was proof that the "curse" on Dorath was finally over and there would be a new queen raised in the Weyr. None of the Weyrfolk want to think about there never being another queen, it would mean the combining of two Weyrs, and less dragons to defend Pern. Zia was in awe of the small shining queen.

"How nice of the little green to help," Zia nodded and tugged a braid, she wasn't going to be breathless for long. Zia was a talker, it didn't matter if she was talking to herself, firelizards, or a crowded room, Zia loved to hear herself talk. She saw the green helping as a sign of respect, she was asked and did what she was told.

How...how breathtaking.

Panata raised a hand to his lips, covering his mouth with fingers stained with blood. With his first sight of the golden dragon it was like nothing else had happened, like he had never been injured and everything was just a lie. The feelings of giddiness that had flooded him before the roars, that feeling of pure excitement that was enough to make anyone want to jump around, it echoed through his body once more.

The queen, the future queen!

Leicha had to agree from where he stood, that a Gold was truely a sight to behold. She was more radiant than anything he'd ever seen, so pure and strong.

Watching in awe as gold came forward to stand on the sands, Nadia gulped and gently patted down her robes trying to brush off the sand that came from the chaos before.
Taking a deep breath she strightened and watched the gold intenly wondering what the chances of her impressing would be with all of these other strongwilled girls around.

As soon as the queen began to emerge from her egg, Rieta discarded her concern for the violent young clutchmates that had so recently ceased fighting. No need to memorize them. No need to be concerned. If the lady emerging so gracefully from the egg was queen of this clutch, there was nothing to fear. She would set them straight, she'd see that they behaved themselves in the future.

Charming. And charming too how obliging her nearest subjects were. Rieta was not one to simply sigh in quiet admiration either. She just couldn't quite keep the words from bubbling up.

"Heh. Such a lady! Seems to know we've all been waiting for her, doesn't she?" She asked the nearest girl, not much minding that no one wanted to tear their eyes away from the new arrival just to discuss the events with her. She couldn't help it, really. Standing and watching wasn't a task, not a real one. She could only take it so long.
