Mr. Katan came through the kitchen doors, heading quickly for the front doors. He gave the boy a surprised look, then glanced behind him, back to the kitchen. "Erm... Hello, Jeremy... Come in."
Soon after, Mrs. Katan came out, too, no sign of any crying having taken place mere moments ago. She was rather skilled at wiping away running mascara, it seemed. If she felt guilty for having invited Jeremy over, no one would have known. "Good to see you." She said, a warm smile on her face. "Dinner won't be for a while longer. There were some delays in the kitchen." She made no mention of Lee or Rory, which could have been either kind of her or her own way of shunning them.

Rory looked up at Mr. Katan in a sort of "everything alright?" look, still not moving away from Lee. He figured the moment he stepped away, Jeremy might throw a knife at him or have him shot by some concealed sniper.
Jeremy nodded politely. "Thank you for having me over again." He looked at Lee, pointedly ignoring her pikey tumor. "Nice to see you as well, Lee. You look lovely."

Clearing her throat and looking up to Rory, Lee nodded politely to the boy. "Thank you..." Please, no murder attempts today, okay?
Mrs. Katan thought a moment on what to do now that her guest had arrived on time and the food was late. What did teenagers do for fun, again? "You kids can catch up while we see to the dinner getting finished in a timely manner." That was the best she could do for now. Both she and her husband headed back to the kitchen, corralling whatever servants they could find to help finish.

Jeremy walked over to them, smiling in an almost predatory way. Lee's mother had told him she made Lee promise to actually give him a real chance. In fact, Lee was supposed to not be showing any sort of relationship with the pikey. He looked up at Rory. "Shouldn't you be helping in the kitchen with the other servants?"

Lee cocked an eyebrow, seeing that the boy hadn't changed a bit. If anything, he was more repulsive than before. "Okay, seriously, that's really not how you win a girl over..." She shook her head with slight frustration. "What exactly did my mother tell you when she invited you over?"

"That your pet pikey would be nowhere near you," Jeremy said, glaring at Rory.
Rory glared right back, too. "Firstly, I ain't her pet. I'm her boyfriend. Secondly, it ain't her mother's choice t' be handin' Lee out like a party favor."

"And if Rory wasn't here, then what? You'd suddenly become a gentleman and sweep me off my feet?" Honestly, what was this boy's plan? Why would she have fallen for him?

Before Jeremy could answer, Rory intervened. "It doesnae matter if I wis here or not. Lee wouldnae be interested, boyo. She's agreed t' marry me. She'll be me wife in a month. You can gae on home now."

Lee nodded in confirmation, though highly doubted Jeremy would give up so easily.

"You have got to be kidding me," Jeremy answered incredulously. "You'd give up a good life with a house and money to marry some inbred pikey and live in a wagon?"
"Oi, w' live in a cottage," Rory protested.

"Oh, so that's what you were offering me? A house and money." This boy had already managed to annoy her. "Listen, I have my own money from my own job, and I live in my own house." Okay, so it wasn't exactly her house, but it sounded good. "Pretty sure you don't have anything to offer."

Jeremy frowned. "How about pedigree? Or standing? You really think he can give you that? He's a social outcast."
"Well, might not mean much t' outsiders, but me family's got a lot o' standin' in th' clan, not t' mention I can trace me roots back t' a fae baron. You got any royalty in your blood?" Rory asked, grinning.

Lee felt a strong urge to say "Yeah, well he more than makes up for it in bed", but decided that really wouldn't help her position any. "Look, Jeremy, I'm really not interested. Nothing is gonna change my opinion of you because... You're a d**k. I'm sorry, but it's true." She shrugged, looking back at him apologetically. Perhaps that was a little forward... "I can't tell you how many other boys I know who can offer me those exact same things. It's not that I'm with Rory. It's just you."

Jeremy frowned. "Your mother is right. You are insane. I can't believe you'd throw everything your parents worked for away to live with a pikey."
"Oi, lad, we ain't just livin' together," Rory said, arm going around Lee's waist again. "We do love each other, you know. Donnae hurt much tha' she happens t' like me skills in bed, either."

Lee elbowed Rory's side, trying to avoid mentioning that, no matter how true it was. "My mother doesn't work. And my father has no problem with it. Don't concern yourself with them. Really, you should work on your people skills. I'm not sure you'll ever get a wife if you just insult every girl you're interested in." Unless, of course, he wasn't interested in her anymore...
