(Enters)

Kain entered noisily through a sea of bramble bushes and into a clear, grassy field. He didn't like jumping down from tree tops very much, so he went the difficult way. He knew that if he attempted jumping from high heights, he'd break an ankle for something, it just wasn't a nice thought, or feeling for that matter...

He brushed himself off and pulled a bramble from his pant leg, noticing a barry still attached to the plant, he plucked it and popped the purple fruit into his mouth. Blech! Instantly he spat it out and squeezed his eyes shut, holding back the painful prickly feeling of pure sour.

Great. Now he was going to have an awful taste in his mouth all day.

The cool breeze blew his hair around his face so he shook his head, holding his arms closer to his chest. He didn't particularly like being cold either. He also didn't enjoy always complaining to himself mentally, everywhere he went.

Kaisho landed behind Kain after dropping from the tree tops that led to the field. "So are you ready for some combat training," Kaisho asked as he looked down at Kain, noticing the same look of distraught on his face. "This student of mine has alot of potential, if only he would believe in himself."

Kain knew it was no use to stall, since he really should learn to fight quickly. He'd wasted enough time debating whether he should become a ninja or not, that it was about time he finally acted.

He nodded slowly and looked up at the teacher with his blank stare, for further instruction.

"Ok Kain, the first part of your training will be speed. I want you to try and dodge all of my attempts at you. If I attack, you dodge, If I try to restrain you, you break free." With that Kaisho took a few steps back from his student, getting into a low fighting stance with his hand emitting mild sparks.

Kain's ears perked at the word 'speed'. He'd always been fairly good at agility.
That is, he thought he was good at it. He'd never actually gone up against someone older than him.

He swallowed and slunk back a few steps.

Here we go. he thought to himself and watched his teacher with his owl like gaze.

Kaisho charged at his student with extreme speed, his left fist aimed at the students chest. The second before his hand connected he vanished using the body flicker technique to confuse the student, all the while he was above the student. Kaisho formed a few hand signs, when five lightning clones appeared around Kain. "Remember to keep up now!" Kaisho stated as the clones all punched at him.

Kain thought he was ready, but he was sadly mistaken.

In a blink of the eye his teacher was running at him and Kain barely had enough time to step back in shock. Right when the man was directly in front of him he lashed out trying to push Kaisho back.

A rock fell in his stomach as the figure of is teacher vanished in front of him, causing the teen to stumble forward, his arms outstretched before him.

Then all too quickly five Kaishos appeared before him, enclosing him in a close circle, their fists coming in for contact with his skin.

Kain cried out in surprise and covered his head in instinct.

"Remember to keep up now!" a voice from above! He open his eyes and looked up, barely holding a frown on his blank face. Before he realized it, he was punched square in the face by a clone and he recoiled instantly, tumbling back into another behind him.

I'm pathetic, god damn it. I'm sure nobody has been so bad in their training. Maybe he should just screw this entire thing all together?
He debated it for a split second before wanting to punch himself in the face.

No, I made up my mind to try and be a ninja, I can't go back now.

What did ninjas do, besides use chakra? They were skilled in hand to hand combat, weren't they?

He kept his eyes locked on the clones around him, and chose the one he was going to attack just as it was beginning to close on him for another blow. He went for a dive towards the ground and rolled past the clone's feet, grabbing a hand full of the clone's leg as he went in attempts to bring it to the ground.

He knew it wasn't much in the way of being a ninja, but at least he tried something. That counted for something, right?

He rolled to his feet and whipped around, panting a ridiculous amount for the small act he just preformed.

He really needed to get into shape.

The clone Kain grabbed fell to the ground and dispersed into electricity as the others turned to face Kain. Kaisho now back on the ground, looked upon his student, seeing his winded from that small act.

"You need to remember Kain, this is only practice, I want to tell you a story," Kaisho said as the clones got into a defensive stance.

"When I was first trained as a ninja, I was trained in the art of puppet control. My mother had forced me to learn the art of puppetry for it was the way of my clan. I hated the puppets, all I wanted was to make my own path, but I couldn't see how. So when I finally became a genin with the use of my puppets, I saw an opening and broke away from my clan and trained myself. I worked hard, everyday in my own style, and now I am training you as your teacher. Anyone can be great, but only determination can get you far." Kaisho finished speaking just as he drew a scroll fom his pocket.

Kaisho tossed the scroll at his student. "This is the scroll that contains my last puppet named Hiro. He is a blade puppet. Maybe you can use him as your means of combat, but first I may need to teach you the chakra thread technique, but only if you ee fit to learn." Kaisho awaited Kain response.

Kain listened intently as Kaisho told his story and couldn't help but envy the teacher for coming so far. Perhaps one day, he would be like that and would be teaching his own academy student?

He watched as the teacher removed a scroll from his side pocket and Kain caught the scroll when it was tossed to him. He looked down at it curiously and back up at teacher, tilting his head to the side.

He made sure to muster himself a smile on his unresponsive face and nodded. "I will try to learn this technique as best I can!" he felt his hand grasp the scroll tighter and a swell of excitment riled up inside of him.

A real technique! if he could learn this, he wasn't just going to have some newbie substitution and bunshin forever!

This must be the thrill of why people wanted to be ninjas. So they could learn a whole variety of techniques!

Was there more to it, perhaps? What would learning every technique be like? How many techniques were there even?

Kain suddenly found himself quite interested in being a ninja by the thought of all of this. The hand clasping the scroll had tightened so much it was hard to let go.

This ninja thing was beginning to feel like a good thing.

"I will try my hardest." he added with another mild smile.

Kaisho smiled at his students enthusiasm, it was the first time the student had shown anything that even resembled hope or determination. "It's good to hear that Kain, so then i guess I should show you the basics of puppetry. First place your fingers of your dominate hand on the back of the puppet. Flow your chakra into the puppet and try to move it's limbs, remember to thin of it as if you were playing with a toy. Once you can move the puppet, I will show you how to extend your range." Kaisho said watching for Kain's first attempt.

(( I assume the scroll turned into a puppet? Kain doesn't even know how to summon. xD ))
PostPosted: Tue Mar 30, 2010 1:49 pm

"I'm sorry Kain, I'm getting ahead of myself, to summon the puppet, all you have to do is pass a small amount of blood across the lettering and the puppet will be summoned." Kaisho said with a look of forgetfulness on his face.

Kain timidly pulled open the scroll, as if it were about to swallow him whole. The teacher got to his question before he asked it.

What? Blood? where would he get the blood?

...

Oh. Oh right.
He drew up his thumb and examined it, he didn't have sharp enough teeth to draw blood, did he? Well, if other ninjas could do it, so could he!

He quickly went to bite down but then hesitated, did he really have to bite himself for this? That was rather unsanitary and not to mention a little painful.

What type of pansy am I? Without no more thought he crunched down on his thumb as hard as he could.

"Ouch!" he winced and withdrew his now very sore finger from his mouth.
It looked so much easier on Tv...

He'd have to work on this.

Kain felt heavy with embarrassment, though he didn't show it. He kept his head down and dragged his thumb across the scroll. Instantly in a puff of smoke a black puppet lay limp on the ground in front of him.

He bent down and placed his right hand against the back of the puppet as instructed. This was the hard part for him. He closed his eyes and concentrated his chakra into his hand.

Move the limbs... Move the limbs...
He felt himself being drained of chakra very quickly and he took in a deep breath of air, as if he'd gain more chakra that way.

Move the limbs.

The Puppet's head twitched and lifted ever so slightly. Kain looked quickly up at the teacher. He did it!

Kaisho felt a feeling of joy fill his being from his students achievement. He hadn't had a student whom he saw so much raw potential in before, but he was gonna make sure this one became someone great.

"Great job Kain, now all you have to do is focus your chakra, keep the feeling that your puppet is an extension of yourself. Visualize that your hand is still on the puppets back and slowly move away." Kaisho awaited his students attempt.
