Finnegan grunted and hopped out of the van, "Well, what makes them failures, do ya think? Maybe they just needed a lil more time, they did." Fin didn't exactly agree with the views that were being put out, the Hosts were still humans. Hell, one of them is me own flesh n' blood. He sighed, he needed to be with his brother, Can't be around a bunch of lads wanting to kill me brother, now can I?
Finnegan appeared deep in thought.
Well, I'm gonna go ahead and pull the ol' switcharoo when we I get the chance.

Johann nodded and shrugged - perfectly noncommittal. He went into the gas station they had stopped at and bought himself a drink, offered to buy the others something, and wound up stocking up on all manner of snacks. It was after his set schedule that he made it back into the driver's seat.
"All right, let's go!" he said cheerily to the others. "We have but a short drive remaining before we make it to our destination."
Schraeder got into the van beside Adela. She noticed that he seemed rather withdrawn.

Adela was cheery now. She'd gotten her stretches, she'd gotten more sleep, and even got a drink courtesy of Johann. However, she did get a little concerned for her friend; Schraeder seemed out of it. "Oye, you okay?" she asked.

He shook his head slowly, still lost in thought. "No, not really...something seems..." He trailed off entirely, stroking his chin slowly as he forgot to finish his sentence. His face and eyes were impossible to read as the van started and they began to move.

A soft snore could be heard from where Xu sat. He had fallen asleep, his head sagging slightly, hair slightly covering the top tip of his silver glasses. He had fallen asleep at about the half-way point. At that time in their somewhat long journey, Xu wast starting to get a case of motion sickness. So he went to sleep to try and stop the swirling feeling within his head.
As the car started up again, the sudden sound work Xu. Looking around, he noticed that they were leaving the parking lot of what seemed to be a secluded gas station. Xu also noted the sudden presence of a number of snack bags scattered across the inside of the van. Using the rear-view mirror, Xu swept his hair to the right of his face and returned his glasses to their usual position. Leaning his back into the seat, Xu looked over Johann and questioned "So, how much longer until we arrive?"

"Just a few minutes more," the cheerful Brit answered clearly. "We go up this road for about 10 minutes, and it's a brief drive into the woods."

Even as he spoke, they pulled onto a long gravel road. Tires crunching up the slope, they were soon...well, nowhere. It was an empty lot.
"Come on, then," Johann said. "It's just a short walk through the trees."
Indeed, it was through the trees. There were no paths or anything. The military sure valued their secrecy.

Xu immediately popped open his seat belt, opened the door, and jumped out of the van. He was eager to get out of the van; Spending too much time in one made him nauseous.
Upon, stepping outside, Xu stood in the small opening in what seemed to be a lightly meadow-ed area. He could see lines of trees just beyond the lot. Sounds of various birds rose from within. This soothed Xu, for this specific area gave off a comforting vibe. Or at least to me anyway... Closing his eyes, Xu stood motionless and "absorbed" the energy that he felt coming from the trees, in a way as the trees soak up the rays from the sun. He felt its aura as green and vivid; A perfectly healthy and thriving forest. This pleased Xu, and a small smile formed on his face.

Adela pursed her lips at Schraeder's words but said nothing. There was nothing that she could have done in any case. While walking through the forest, Adela looked at the scenery. Daaaaaamn. These people like their privacy.

Schraeder sidled up next to Adela as they walked. "This doesn't seem right," he murmured softly. "What we're doing. What do you think about it?" He seemed anxious to get her opinion.
Johann, several steps ahead, leaped over a log and continued forward. In the near distance, they could sort of make out the form of a large building ahead. It was still obscured by the trees.

Xu walked at the end of the small group, still slightly "hyped" over the lush aura of the trees. It got him excited, much like how a child becomes energetic with the excess consumption of sugar.
Upon seeing the building in the horizon, Xu slightly increased his pace, not wanting to get left behind. He moved up, until he was walking side by side with Johann. Motioning to the building, Xu asked "Is that where we are headed?"

"I'll go and scout ahead." Finnegan announced, "I'll come back if there's anything worth noting, if not, I'll meet you there, I will."
Without waiting for anyone to protest or say anything against him, Finnegan took off sprinting full speed towards the building. Within a matter of moments, he came up to the building entrance.
No guards, weird. Finnegan thought, "And the door's locked down." he added aloud. Seeing no apparent way inside from the ground level, Finnegan took to climbing the building, maybe there was some way inside on the roof.

"Yes," said Johann. "That's the main field lab for the original Host experiments."
Finnegan, standing on the roof, was immediately seen by the guards on the other side of the compound, who he had not been able to see. Moving quickly, three of them opened fire with their rifles at him, and four more ran towards him, aiming to flank him. Fin would need to move quickly to avoid getting killed.
Hearing the gunshots, Johann said, "Something's wrong. Are they..." he squinted. "Are they attacking Fin? I say! We must get there and help him!"
Schraeder put his own moral thoughts aside at the sound of gunfire and nodded. "I've got it," he said, blinking forward. He appeared on the edge of the compound, just inside of the fence's perimeter. Getting his bearings quickly, he blinked up to the roof, grabbed Fin, and blinked back to the ground where the guards couldn't fire at them yet. Releasing Fin, Schraeder leaned on the wall and coughed a little. "You good?" he asked.

Schraeder squeezed his eyes shut, inhaling shakily before nodding. "I'm fine. don't worry about it."
He looked over his shoulder when Xu approached, nodding at the man. "We were supposed to be expected. Fin's right; something's happened. I don't know what it is, but we need to get it figured out or we're in trouble."
Schraeder looked to Fin. "Adela and Johann are outside the perimeter. You're the free-runner here; can you get out there and help me move our forces? I'd do it, but blinking takes a lot out of me, and I'd rather save for any conflict that might arise."
In the meantime, he said to Xu, "Use that vine of yours to find out the guards' positions. We need to know how to move. Be quick," he said, addressing them both. "We need to get this done. Don't have Adela and Johann try attacking until I give you word."
Just before Fin was to leave, Schraeder said, "Oh, and Fin? Tell Adela to be careful, would you? I don't want her to get hurt."
