And down here from the ground, I see who you areKori prepared to take her time looking around the store, but it only took a minute or two before her eye was caught. It was a top, just a top. But she wanted it. And it was $50.
Kairi stared at it for nearly 5 minutes straight, feeling the money in pocket, and knowing she could buy it easily, but was unwilling to part with the money she may never even use.
Eventually, she pulled herself away without even looking around the rest of the store and walked out. She didn't go far. No, she just leaned against the wall separating the clothing store with the antique store next to it and closed her eyes, breathing in the fresh air. Well, remotely fresh air.
Of course even something so simple had to be so complicated.

"Gee, I guess I am pretty fortuneate." He kept the ice out of his voice, but he hated being on the tail end of the deal. Audrey was definietly pushing for dominance.
"Five thirty today? Sounds sweet. I'll be there sweet cheeks." With that, the power struggle was over. "Jeremiah Blake, you can reach me at the number I called you on."
He held off on hanging up, just to hold onto her a bit. He didn't want to push his luck. Jeremiah started up his car again and headed for the gym.

After John sucked down some water he turned to look out of the store window. "Like that girl! Look at her, the beauty she is. She's so soft looking, nice."
Jon wandered over to stand by the old man, looking out. His breath caught when he saw Kori standing outside. "Thats... John... Can I ... Well, of course I can talk to you." He sighed. "Her name's Kori. She's beautiful, she's sweet. She's everything I've never had. She's everything Audrey isn't."
"You know her?" Jon nodded. "Get your scrawny a** out there and get her. Forget Audrey. Hell, you can sleep at my house if needed. I don't care. Girls like this only come around once in a lifetime."
"She has a boyfriend."
"She looks sad."
"She is. I found her sleeping on a bench.."
"Save her."
Jon couldn't get the courage to walk out there, he'd look like a stalker. Instead, he went right back to looking at the jewelary.. Wishing.
"Jon, I promise you will be miserable at best with Audrey."

Jon knew that what his step in grandpa was saying was true. He knew he could never be even close to happy with Audrey. When he so much as looked at Kori, he felt an escape. He felt a bit of happiness in the pit of pain growing in his stomach.
"I'm afraid. I'm ******** afraid of leaving Audrey." He shook his head at himself. "God, what have I become?"
John patted him on the back as he watched Kori walk away.
"Go after her."
Jon shook his head. "I'm telling you, I can't."
"Jon, go."
He looked into the blue eyes of the person he respected most in this world and sighed.
"Alright, alright."
Jon slowly stepped out of the store and jogged the bit of ways down the street to catch up with her. "Kori!" He breathed a little heavily. "Kori, hey, you're a hard one to catch up with." He chuckled, playing it as if he hadn't been watching her through the window like a complete stalker creep.

And down here from the ground, I see who you areKori wasn't one to wonder along slowly, not even when she was lost in her thoughts anymore. Jeremiah always used to get all pissy when she did that, and would literally drag her along if "necessary."
She got a ways down the street before she heard her name called out. It confused her, since it clearly wasn't Miah, who she was used to yelling out her name, but it stopped her in her tracks all the same.
She turned around slowly to see that guy... Jon? Running to catch up with her.
"Oh... well, I'm sorry, I didn't um... see you...?" she stuttered out.
"So where did you...?"
She really was at a loss for words here, and for so little a reason.

Jon chuckled when she attempted to speak. "Its all good, I saw you coming out of that store... but the antique shop? Something... uhh, told me I should..." Should what? Chase you down?
"Say hi." Good one. He mentally kicked his own a** for that one.
"Would you maybe wanna grab some ... food or something with me?" He offered a soft smile. The only thing fueling him now was John, he knew he was right.
But he couldn't help looking over his shoulder to watch out for Audrey. She'd kill not only him, but Kori too.

Jeremiah had a lot of guy friends, some that were over all the time even. But they all knew she was his territory alone and wouldn't even try to touch her. Not after he broke someone's nose for grabbing her a**.
And then even the guys who didn't like Miah knew better. And so did pretty much everybody else.
She didn't even really have any female friends anymore for related reasons. One, they all wanted her to GET OUT. And two, it was hard to be friends with someone that was claimed in every aspect. She could hardly plan to go out with anyone just in case he wanted her to come home immediately for whatever reason.
Not to mention the fact that, with many years of conditioning, and not at Jeremiah's fault alone, she was pretty much socially inept by now. So the old friends left her, and she hasn't made any new ones.
Until now?
Maybe?
But Jeremiah would freak out if he found her hanging out with a guy....
"Well. Hi." she managed to say back before he asked her... out? Sort of? It sounded like asking out, but she knew he knew she had a boyfriend... He meant as friends right?
But still... Jeremiah.
She had to come up with some excuse other than her boyfriend, since he already knew that.
"Um.. Well... I was just going to get some Ice cream right now at the parlor down the street.... you can come with me?"
Oh.
Well now, Kori. That was not an excuse. That was an invitation. Bad.

Okay, so Jon knew just how dumb he was being. Extremely stupid didn't even cover it. But he was longing for some sort of feeling. Need, companionship, safety, love? Who knew. But he wanted, needed something and he found that that something was in Kori.
Sure, he knew she had a boyfriend.. who would most likely kill him with one punch or something but he just didn't care. Or he did, but he was ignoring that fact.
He had no friends, hardly any family at this point, and nobody...but John and Audrey. John was great, but he wasn't exactly someone who wanted to go out with him. He had his own life, own family. And honestly, he wanted someone his age in his life that wasn't abusive.
"Ice cream sounds good, on me." Jon smiled, the same old lopsided smile that got him every date he had ever been on.
They walked on, side by side and so close to touching, one move could destroy the distance between them.
But they both knew better.

And down here from the ground, I see who you areKori immediately felt like she should protest, insist that she pay for her own ice cream. It wouldn't be a big deal either way, but she didn't feel like it would be right if he paid.
Not that it would then feel like a date or anything... of course that had nothing to do with it... It was just stupid ice cream.
She opened her mouth to protest just as she thought she should, but she unfortunately looked toward him instead of ahead, and caught that lopsided smile of his.
It made her hesitate, and cause her words to come out way less confident then she thought they would.
"I can get mine..." she mumbled. And yet, a smile still threatened to show itself.
Kori however, looked away from him, back to their path before them, before it could make use of it's threat.

Jon shook his head, "You're the lady. Its like, two bucks. Just let me buy. It'll be okay." He leaned in a bit, "It'll be our secret."
Flirting, ah. That's right, it was fun. He had forgotten what it felt like to feel free. Except when the thought of what Audrey would do crept into his mind and caused a shiver to snake up his spine. He tried to shake it off, but cheating was cheating.
Not that Audrey was loyal, by any means. But he never had proof. Or the balls to leave, apparently.
Jon stood up straight again and opened the door to the old school 50's parlor. He followed her inside and shivered at the familiar coldness.

And down here from the ground, I see who you areKori knitted her fingers together at the knuckles with, the back of her hands both facing out, and thumbs touching. She looked down at them as she did so.
"Well if you insi..." she had started saying it quiet enough in the first place, but it just trailed off into nothing when he leaned in and said more.
Ok. It would have been a secret anyway. Jeremiah couldn't know anything about him. He wouldn't want to hear her even mentioning another guy's name.
But the way he said it, just made it seem so much worse. But also... also... what?
Kori then surprised herself by saying, "It better be" almost laughing. Almost. It was that silent open mouth smile that emerged.
Immediately after, her face colored and her mouth closed. She felt awkward again. But for that breath second, her face had lit up, for a single moment, the pressure lifted.
And then the moment was passed
They were in the parlor by then, and Kori rapped her arms around herself, trying to suppress a shiver. Of course she had long sleeves of some kind on at all times, but her clothing wasn't think, and she got cold very easily.

He felt his body tense at the thought but quickly pushed the thoughts aside as they approached the counter. "What doya want? Anything your heart desires today, madame." He winked, something he hadn't done in awhile.
Jeez. He had forgotten how cutesy he could be. Ya know, when cutesy actions weren't considered... well, weak.
