Isadora rode her horse as fast as she could to reach crime scene. She was informed by the Watch messenger earlier about the latest murder. Not wanted to came unprepared like she did two nights before, the paladin brought her Silver Sword, Elixer, Short Spear, and a Hand Axe with her. She had also brought something with her that was hidden behind her shield. It was something she kept for memory and rarely used it unless it was dire emergency. This was the dire emergency she would use.

As she reached to the house, Isadora jumped off her horse and went inside. She suspected that the Watch would be there before her. Isadora looked around the area before entering the living room. There was the murder scene, along with Leon and Amelia.

Isadora looked at the latest victims. The color of her cheeks paled.

No..... We're too late. Isadora thought. Two victims had already been murdered. Tura had succeeded his mission. That would mean that all the mysteries would be revealed to them. The doubts, the questions, and the curious would finally get the answers.

Isadora looked at the floor and the wall, reading the clues that Tura had painted. Fury arched her eyebrows. She thought bitterly. Another riddle for us to figure out. And still, he had not given us hints as to who were the victims he would kill or where would he be.

If they managed to capture Tura, he would pay for the crime he made. As for Father Renault, she would want the answers immediately. Answers for this crazed and twisted murders.

"Leon, did Tura left anything besides these clues on the floor and wall?" Isadora questioned. She prayed to St. Elimine that Tura had something helpful for them to figure out. Otherwise, they would be forced to reread the clues they were given and tried to figure out. What would the connections between these victims? What would these clues help to capture him? What was Tura's next move now that all seven victims were dead?

Despite how much she had failed to save the victims, Isadora refused to give up. She would stop Tura, even if he tried to accomplish his goal.

Where ever I wander, where ever I roam,

The Magic Swordman Master Lord, Roy

User Image

Roy noticed Isadora racing off on her trusty steed, and quickly quickened his pace and hurried after her. Travel on foot could not compare with the speed of traveling on horseback, so it wasn't long before he had lost the Paladin. He cursed under his breath before heading down a path he figured she would have taken.

After a while, the young lord had reached a house. Sure enough, this was the right way. Isadora's horse and Leon's pony was there as well. He made sure that he had his swords on him one last time, took a deep breath, then walked slowly into the house, awaiting the horrors within.

He felt a chill down his spine upon entering. No doubt about it; someone had died here. And...there was something else too. He wasn't sure exactly what it was, since his dragon senses were crappier than the rest of the dragonkin, but he knew something was here.

Roy soon reached the living room, where Leon, Isadora, and Amelia where standing. In the same room, there were two recently deceased victims: a child, and an elderly old woman. He took a quick, sharp breath in realization of the deceased, even though he had called it. There was only two reasons why the Watch and Isadora were out here: Either 1) they had found another dead body, or 2) they had confronted Tura.

Good thing he decided to go with the first option.

"..." he slowly approached the two bodies. What had been taken from them? There was no doubt that the parts taken from the corpses held some use to Tura, but what exactly? Was he trying to make a body...or was it for some other purpose?

--Later--

"...YOU."

"Ahh, Fireman. What brings ye he--!"

Ghis had seen things move faster than Jin's hand (to his robes and up towards Ghis' face with a stiletto outstretched), but not many.

"You think I'm deaf? There were murders. Again. In the FEF manor, no less. And you're not even TRYING anymore."

Jin's statement allowed the General to recover his composure. He leaned back in the wooden chair in the practically empty Watch House and stared up at Jin sternly.

"An' wha' wouldja have me do? Ye see the people I hae t' work with? We've lairned nary a thing--not who he is, not where he is, not why he's doin' things. Nobody's seen him or his morph friend. An' ah sure don't see YOU, 'Fireman', findin' anything either."

"...The point is, I've still been trying to prevent what's happening out there, what's STILL happening. You, on the other hand, are in a position to do something and have not even tried."

Jin's hand was clenched pretty tightly on the dagger, the infamous "Law of the Fang" rising, wanting to pass judgement on this uncaring lout of a Captain. Ghis' hands were calmly cradling his head, staring up into Jin's eyes, looking strangely calm.

"Ye gonna put tha' thing away?"

"Truth be told, I don't know. I almost want to see what would happen if I told the Watch that you were the one who started the rumors in the first place. But then again, you're showing such disregard for the lives of your people that..."

"Say it."

"...You don't hold anything sacred, do you?"

"...No, I don't."

Jin shot forward. Nobody here in the Watch House, an unarmed General before him? He'd pass the Fang's judgement and be done with it. His stiletto was outstretched, ready to stab the General in the jugular...

Ghis just moved his head to one side, grabbing and pushing Jin's right arm aside with his own right, the knife thudding directly into a wall. Jin's left arm was quick to reach for the other weapon, but Ghis' left fist already rose in a powerful uppercut, slamming into the Assassin, er... Priest... Priestassin's jaw, knocking him on the floor, looking too woozy to get up anytime soon.

"Fireman, le' me fill ye in on a few pointers from a man who's seen a lot," Ghis said, sitting on the man so he couldn't fight back. "Ah grew up on th' streets, as an orphan, i' a gang. Ye think anyone cared 'bout me? NO. Human life, sacred? 'Tis a joke. Nothin's sacred. Don't let nobody tell ye 'therwise. Th' only thing tha' matters i' life... is the strength o' yer sword arm an' 'ow much money ye got. Tha's all."

He looked down at his attacker's face. The eyes... they were getting hazy. He was going to pass out shortly.
"One mare thing 'fore ye go! Ye let yer emotions get i' th' way. Ye wanna be some kinda Assassin? ACT LIKE ONE ER STAY A PRIEST. Ah don't care which."

After going and changing her clothes, Melethia made it to the spot. The building to where everyone else was going. She slipped into the shadows from a window so she wouldn't be noticed. She didn't have her Elfire with her for she wasn't going to fight back or set anything on fire. She was there to do what she needed to do for Tura. She stood there, waiting for the signal.

Leon was asked if Tura left behind anything else other than the note that was scribbled on the wall. He was hesitant for a moment, thinking that his rank might be on the line if he told of his little outburst with the answered letter, and his even calling out to the assassin.

But everything need to be told.

"Lady Isadora..." Leon held out his hand, and he straightened the crushed paper he still held in his palm that had his own handwriting and Tura's poetic response. "I tried t' call 'im out, ya see. When I wrote to 'im, 'e r'plied, an' when I shouted out loud... I be hearin' voices... 'is voice I think. 'E tol' me t' bring th' rest o' ya... an' that I couldn't be dyin' yet. I be thinkin'... we... we're th' last targets."

Isadora bit her lower lip as she took the note from Leon and read it carefully. She could see Leon's handwriting, demanding the assassin the time and place for confrontation. The paladin turned the note around to see Tura's handwriting. She read the note twice.

Tura didn't leave the time and place for confrontation. Instead, he left a poetic response about how one connection interacted with two realms. What was Tura trying to say? This note was different from the previous notes he had left. So what made this note unique from the other?

A grim look spread on the paladin's face as she looked up. "This note... It doesn't make any sense. There are no mention of death, life, and pain in this note. What is he trying to say?"

Isadora also didn't like it what Leon had told her. Tura told Leon to have everyone who were involved in this mess together? That would mean that he would reveal his reasons for the crimes. The motive of what driven him to do it. However, the paladin disagreed with the lieutenant about his last thought.

"No, I don't think we're the last target. Even though Tura said that we were to be taught a lesson, I don't think he would kill us... Well, I don't know about you and the Watch." Isadora sheepishly spoke. "I was told by Tura that Amelia and I are the honored guests to the last procession. He stated that according to Father Renault's request, Tura was forbidden to kill Amelia and I unless he had to take drastic measure. I don't know why Tura will agree to that, but all I know is that he must be stopped. He may have succeed of killing his victims, but whatever he is up to, it is our job to stop him."

"At least ya an' 'Melia ain't targets, M'Lady." Leon said to her, relief sort of washing over him, but the ill feelings never truly leaving. The scowl that usually came over his face had eased up into a relaxed expression, not smiling or frowning. Just a stiff face. What will happen... well, it will happen. No use worrying now, no use being angry, the end was near. "I dunno what he be tryin' t' say, but 'e saw me. I know 'e saw me 'cuz I heard 'im. I felt 'im, even... swear I felt 'im..."

His hand went over his neck that had been clearly pressed on, but not cut. There was a cold sensation on it earlier, he could have swore it felt like the cold of steel that moment he was alone. How easy it could have been for him to be killed in one blow, and twisted in to Tura's 'art' for the others to gaze at.

"Dunno why 'e didn't get me when I was 'lone..." he told Isadora and the others, now shivering.

Amelia was still standing to the side, staring at the walls and corpses with a blank, vaguely sickened look on her face. Her knuckles were turning white as the skin there was stretched tight, hands still held in fists at her sides. Leon and Isadora were speaking as if she wasn't in the room any longer, discussing a note Leon had received and warnings Leon had gotten from Tura. Roy had arrived as well; Amelia didn't acknowledge his presence just yet. She merely stepped delicately to the side to allow him to approach the scene.

Finally, as Isadora spoke of stopping Tura, Amelia lifted her chin and looked over at the woman. When Leon fell silent, Amelia spoke; her voice was quiet, but the steel behind it was sharper than any lance.

"There were no clues as to where to find him on the note? None?" she asked. Already an idea was forming in her head, and Amelia disappeared briefly into her room. When she returned a minute later, she was buckling her left gauntlet into place.

"It doesn't matter. We don't need any clues to find him." Amelia ran a hand through her hair, then looked over at Roy before turning her eyes back to Leon and Isadora. "All we have to do is find Uncle. He'll lead us right to him."

"Yer 'uncle', 'Melia?" Leon looked puzzled at her saying she had one, for he'd only heard of her Father, Renault. No mention of an uncle anywhere, but Leon wasn't about to ask more personal questions. He was not that way.

"This's FEFGA's manor... I 'ad r'ports on th' place bein' haunted." Leon said to the others, again shivering. "Wha' if... Tura... wha' if 'es an evil spirit, ya know? We may be chasin' 'fter a ghost if 'e be 'ere all th' time, this house's old."

Where ever I wander, where ever I roam,

The Magic Swordman Master Lord, Roy

Roy caught bits and pieces of the conversation between Leon, Isadora, and Amelia. He sighed. So these people weren't the last victims, and that they probably were? Well, Isadora and Amelia were spared, but Leon and the other Watch Members...and himself...probably would be the next to die. He sighed again, wearily. This riddle had to be solved soon, or they would lose Tura's game.

"Why do we kill...I think I understand it now. You kill to make them dead. It doesn't matter when it comes. If there's one thing we can't avoid...it's dying. And taxes." he said, getting back up onto his feet.

The newly deceased didn't have anything too different from the usual pattern: huge hole in the middle of the body, some parts missing. And it was always set up in some scene that would draw attention, except for this last one. It only drew attention because of its location. Other than that, it didn't look out of the ordinary, outside of being deceased and all.

Roy turned to face the others.

"Leon's not dead yet because it takes Tura some time to set up the bodies. It didn't take us that long to get here, so we would have probably run into him setting up, if Leon was killed. And Leon...Tura's not an evil spirit. If he was, he wouldn't have a physical body to touch. And I'm pretty sure some of us already made physical contact with him." he said, walking towards them.

He passed the group, walking over to the door. He peeked outside the room, then walked back towards them. He then looked at the note that Leon and Isadora were looking at.

"FEFGA's manor holds the Door, which links our individual lands with this one. Perhaps that's what this note means. We won't have to move from our currently location. Or maybe its the stairs..."

Leon felt the earlier chill he felt completely freeze him as Roy spoke. He was only spared because the others had showed up in time? The very thought of them coming even a second later, to see him killed, mutilated in the twisted ways Tura did...

He didn't want to think about it anymore. For Isadora to see... for Amelia to see! Leon didn't want to think of him being the next one to put them in the state of anguish.

He spoke now, his tone once again faltering. It was... erratic to say the least. "Er... Roy... I guess... I guess I be owin' y'all for comin' when ya did..." he muttered fearfully.

As she listened to Leon, she suddenly heard Amelia spoke, questioning about the note Tura had left. Before Isadora could speak, the general left the room. Amelia later returned and informed them that her uncle would lead to them.

"Uncle?" Isadora repeated as she arched her brow confusingly. She knew that Renault was her adopted daughter. However, she had never heard of an uncle before. In fact, Isadora didn't remember Renault informing her about his family. How many secrets and hidden information did Renault store away from the FEF?

Isadora heard Leon panicked, thinking that Tura must be a ghost. However, Roy clarified that the crazed assassin wasn't a spirit at all. Since when did Roy arrived? She then listened to Roy's theory about Tura's location. The paladin disagreed.

"My apology, Lord Roy, but I don't think it can be the Door. Even though we are given a second chance in this world, it is impossible for us to use the Door. We don't have any keys to the Door and we can't even open it either. What makes you think that Tura will be able to use the Door while we can't?"

The young lord didn't recall hearing anything about Amelia having an Uncle. For all he knew, Renault was her adopted father. Was there more family members that they didn't know of?

Roy nodded to Leon. Even though it was just a theory, it was more than enough to show how reckless it was to arrive at the scene of a crime on your own and foolishly call out to a murderer that was easily capable of slaying a living being without faltering. Wars didn't have such gruesome deaths, but there was definitely little to no faltering for most of the fighters. That he knew all too well, having watched Bern's forces try to rout his army numerous times, only to be driven back and routed. There was no doubt in their eyes, not even when they faced a dragon. It was kill...or be killed.

Roy then looked at Isadora and sighed with a nod.

"You're right. If we can't use the Door, how can Tura use it? So that rules out the Door. Since the latest victims were here...and Leon heard Tura talking to him before we arrived...he must still be in the house somewhere. Where...I don't know. But this could be our only chance at stopping him, before any more lives are lost." he said.

"It's just a theory...so I could be wrong. If he is here, we shouldn't split up." the young lord quickly added.

Completely oblivious. The writing was on the wall, quite literally, and they were all ignoring it. Had they forgotten that every other note had been found directly at the scene of the crime? Why would he suddenly change that now and REPLY to something he hadn't known was going to happen? But, they needed to be shown, so instead something odd occurred.

Back inside Fefga's house, a slight hissing could be heard from the blood still on the floor and the walls. After a moment, what was happening became clear. The blood was in fact dissolving the wall behind it or the floor below it, depending on its spot; it stopped once it had gone deep enough for the letters it created to be revealed. There wasn't much chance that they could miss his note now.

Shame.
You were showing such promise.
You'd given so much effort.
Then you gave up.
And assumed I'd play by the rules.
The rules are mine. This chessboard belongs to me.
You've lost six pawns. What have I lost?
To the contrary, I've gained all I set out to do.
But, clearly, I have to eliminate the knights before taking the queen.
So this is your last chance, dear knights.
Your chance to take out the enemy king.
One last fell swoop.
Can you do it?
Can you flip the chessboard?
I think not.
But, we shall see...
Since you all seem to be quite dense, I will make this simple.

Walk outside.

Can you handle this much?

Good. Then turn to your left.

Do you see the great black tower that splits the horizon?

It erupts from a mansion painted with darkness.

With no haste, I await you.

Just above the fireplace, in a different, more crooked hand, was written the following words:

The first time, you thought, "We'll stop him this time," at the tragedy you weren't able to avoid.

The second time you were shocked and thought, "Once again?" at the tragedy you weren't able to avoid.

The third time, the shock passes, and it becomes pain.

If you count the seventh time, it gradually becomes a comedy.

Amelia slowly looked back to the walls as she heard the hissing noise. Words. Painted on the wall. Why hadn't she noticed that? She looked to her feet, where she could hear the same noise; more words. Oh. Amelia slowly backed up, nearly tripping once over her own feet, and quietly read the message laid out for them.

Anger was numbing her; her facial features barely flickered as she absorbed the bloody words. She didn't move from where she had stopped on the floor until she had finished reading the words above the fireplace. Amelia lingered there for a few seconds, then quietly went into her room. She returned with her lance.

She didn't speak. Her eyes went to each person in the room, waiting to see if they had finished reading. After a few minutes, she turned her eyes to Isadora. She still said nothing, merely offered the smallest of smiles before walking out of the manor to approach the mansion in the distance.
