wouldn't be a captain. It'd interfere with the entire ship's chain of command. AFterall, that's the highest officer on the deck as is, you don't need subordinates issueing counterorders.

Commander then I'd guess.

You mean ship's security officer? If there was one he'd be a stormtrooper officer, so he'd probably be dead.

I'd remind you an ISD's troop compliment:
9,700 Stormtroopers
0 Fleettroopers

As for command of naval troopers... there aren't any to command, we're having to improvise ship's security which means the highest ranking person with security training is... DA's stormtrooper.

Oh god.

Here's the rules I've come up for the RP... I'll need Mod approval for the first two, but the rest are probably etched in stone at the moment.

Quote:
RULES

General Game Management Rules and Hierarchy:
1. Listen to the Game Master hereafter referred to as the GM and follow his advice, do not complain if the GM does damage to your character or rejects your profile. His word is law and can only be overruled by a majority decision of the moderators.

2. Listen to all moderators and voice all complaints about the GM to them, only they can overrule the GM: Nelowulf, Cale Darksun, Darkened Angel and Elladan Kenet. This axiom also applies to any whom may be promoted to mod-ship during the course of the RP. They have higher authority than you or I in such matter.

3. Guild rules and GAIA TOS must be followed ALWAYS.

Character Types and Their Use:
1. Characters are divided into four separate classes. Player-characters (PCs), Non-player-characters (NPCs), Game-master-player-characters (GMPCs), and Opposing Forces (OPFOR).

2. PCs must conform to following the BIO format when submitted. It is against the rules to puppet a PC unless the two parties have agreed to such an arrangement. If so please keep any PMs in case of a dispute. PCs are cannot be auto-hit, but this isn't to say that the Game Master can't intervene and force damage if PCs have managed to avoid an inordinate number of attacks.

3. NPCs are characters generated by the normal role-playing of Player Characters, they can include the PC's friends, allies, superiors, subordinates, and named extras. They too cannot auto-hit their target, Players who created NPCs should not be inordinately concerned with their safety unless they are required for the Player's plot, in which case it is best if the Game-master is informed of this requirement to avoid their loss. It is normally acceptable for one PC to puppet another character's NPC if the other PC is not present in the encounter.

4. GMPCs are Player Characters controlled by the GM. These are normally characters vital to the entire plot of the RP and act as guides, commanders, opponents, and mentors for player characters. Often times a GM will create GMPCs in positions to allow them to help direct PCs toward the plot outlined by the PC. GMPCs should be obeyed as though they were the Game Master himself, think of them as in-game versions of the game master.

5. OPFOR are the opponents to the players in RP, ranging from TIEs and Pirates, to Admirals and Smugglers. They represent all NPCs with which the character may have hostile dealings. Unlike PCs they can auto-hit players under controlled circumstances. Additionally they are controlled by the Game Master most of the time. All OPFOR posts will be in dark red for clarity and identification.

Combat Rules:
1. Auto-Hits are prohibited. The penalty of conducting an auto-hit is quite simple, you get auto-hit in turn. This is because conducting an auto-hit is the in-game equivalent of becoming target-fixated, by becoming target fixated you are vulnerable to the enemy picking you off.

2. Be willing to take injuries and casualties, but you don't need to die. Personal weapons in star wars are primarily plasma based blasters, which if you think about it have neither mass nor penetrating power. Expect to get burnt but not necessarily get killed. Think how many blaster scorches the 501st troopers in Survivor's Quest had on their armor before they were rendered ineffective, and none of them died. Plus we have a doctor, give him something to do.

3. A further remark based upon 2, if you're in a starfighter or combat starship expect to take some damage, and remember you've got an eject lever in all imperial starfighters so if you bail out we can recover you (most of the time, we could have a scenario where you get captured to setup for a rescue mission or something).

4. A word about combat effectiveness. I simply call this the 98-2 rule. It states that 98% of casualties are inflicted by 2% of combatants, this is a general rule that holds true in almost all situations. As PC characters you're automatically members of that 2% so you may pile up the bodies if you're combat oriented. By the same token, if you're facing a formation of 100 enemies or more expect two or more of them to be significant threats in combat to your person. NOTE: clones are automatically part of the 2% group and are therefore extremely dangerous. If you're facing clone stormtroopers like the 501st or other highly successful units expect to take significant casualties. Additional exceptions include multi-crew-member systems, an unusual psychological effect of crewed systems is that the crew is much more willing to kill than if he's a lone pilot or soldier handed a rifle. This does not mean that a lone pilot freezes in his cockpit and lets you kill him however, it means that a lone pilot will dance and evade to escape your clutches but won't be as willing to pull the trigger if he settles on your tail. Hence the 98-2 rule does not apply to starship combat or most vehicular combat.

You also have to consider that the amry would've had a high rank onboard. If I'm not mistaken, in Mist Encounter, the Vic had a Colonel on it in charge of the stormtroopers and army troops.

So, assuming him to be dead, the army equivalant to the Line Captain would be a Colonel, right?

Your doing alot of contradicting Stellar, make up your mind.

Heres my idea. I'll take place as the stand-in Security Officer for the ship, and take to training whoever volunteers to join the remaining security troops. Exempthing the remaining Stormtroopers.

Or, I could have been an Army officer under the original Stormtrooper commander, killing him during the mutiny and taking over his position.

As of now, I'm either Bvt. Commander from Lt Commander, or Bvt Lt Colonel from Major.

It would be High Colonel for Line Captain but everyone on the ship has to have a rank lower than Captain, because until just a few days before hand (When the captain got the Brevet Rank) she was just a captain. Therefore the original Ship Security Officer would be a Lieutenant Colonel.

(Ironically a Division warrants a Major-General's Rank which puts the ship's security officer in a weird position of having two superiors)

And yeah he's dead... I was reserving that position for Cale, he had a character he was going to use for that position but I don't think he's still interested.

Some notes for the those interested in the post of ship's security officer. Your command consists of - no one. Your job is to detect and stop pro-imperial elements from betraying the ship to the enemy, not fending off boarding parties. So it's probably among the most difficult jobs on the ship.

Will there be intrigue aboard? Well of course there will be! Hence the constant threat of sabotage or betrayal shall remain a Sword of Damocles above our head.

Will we get boarded? Maybe, occasionally, but lets face it. Boarding an ISD is a tough feat unless its by subterfuge, and that would drastically limit the number of boarders coming on the ship, so we're in pretty good shape on that front. If things got real nasty we could just vent the affected section's atmosphere and send in the spacetroopers.

So whats happened to our soldiers then? The assault shuttle troopers and makeshift security.

We cant only have a small sqaud of fem-spacetroopers.

What ranking system do storimes use? Do they follow Army, Navy, or their own? The wookiee doesn't help me any there. All I get from it is that stormies aren't part of either, since the stormtrooper corp. is an organization all its own, but I found no ranking system in it other than a regular stormie and an officer one.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 11, 2009 7:45 pm

Makeshift security is the equivalent of a ship's militia. They have other jobs they have to be doing most of the time so you only get them when there's an immanent threat of being boarded.

So what have we got? A depleted formation of femtroopers and a half-squad of Zero-G Stormtroopers. Welcome to the nightmare that is security. Since I already said I wanted to avoid having PCs commanding PCs you don't get the Femtroopers or the half-squad because thats under my personal control (to get DA trained up on spacetrooper ops).

If we're boarded you rely on the crew and the makeshift security of the ship's militia to handle it. For normal security you have to reply on reports from officers in charge of the crew on any suspicious activity.

EDIT: I believe the stormtrooper corps uses the army system. If you're a platoon leader you're a lieutenant or a platoon sergeant, weird thing with army command structure is the platoon sergeants really lead their platoons, the lieutenant acts more as a spare for when and if the company captain is killed. So your platoon lieutenant would probably be a fresh from the academy fool, so you're better off being a sergeant and just saying you blasted him than anything else.

Use the link Stellar provided on the profile.

I'm making a officer of the rank Major, he sided with the ship, most of the troopers in his battalion are alien. He took under him the troopers who decided not to mutiny, all together about 1350 men, exempting the space troopers and engineering division. He will be incharge of Ship Security, Bvt Lt Colonel. He takes order directly from you now Stellar.

Sound good?

So 13% of the Stormtrooper Division remained loyal to the ship. Okay that would give you enough to troll the halls, but you've still got a mother of a job to do.

BTW that ups the crew compliment to over 14k. Wohoo! We got 1/2 the population of my town onboard.

Awesome. That way we arent royally ******** though without a security compliment.

Hell, we can even do pirate boardings.

Anyhow, Stellar, any idea how long my smuggler is gonna be sitting in that cell of his?
