Kai smiled and shifted quickly so he was sitting next to Tomoro. He left his staff and book on the shelf next to the purple flower. His big brown eyes slowly shifted to the girl's side profile, "It...really wasn't that great...My parents were too busy to really even notice me...That is one of the reasons that I created Edward...my imaginary friend..." The last part of his sentence seemed to fall out of his mouth and hit the ground hard, he hated everyone saying that Edward wasn't real...He sighed somewhat sadly, "...So I was glad when I actually had a chance to belong somewhere...I wasn't really noticed at home so if I came here, I'd probably meet someone nice..." He smiled sweetly at the girl, "Like you..." He slowly looked down and his chestnut hair fell around his face again delicately, "You...could tell me about your past if you wanted to...I mean...If it helps you..." He yelled at himself in his mind, "It isn't your job to interfere in her life! Take it back! But politely!!!" The young healer bit his bottom lip hard, "N-N-No...I apologize...I shouldn't have asked you about your past...I'm sorry..." He bit his lip harder, almost drawing blood. He fiddled with his hands as they rested in his lap, trying to convince himself that he had never asked Tomoro about her past.

Tomoro sighed, and looked down. "No... I guess, if we're friends.. we have to know about eachother, right?" Tomoro's soft voice echoed throughout the entire room, like a sound chamber set on the highest volume. She untwirled the curl of hair around her finger, and looked away from Kai, down at the dirt. "It won't help me... but... you need to know." He's the only one I'll tell... the only one besides Bukotsu. And Sachi. Well, she doesn't really know, but whatever. Tomoro's manicured finger, polish in a dark maroon, slid across the dirt as she scribbled in it, forming swirls and other assorted designs. This was a hard topic for her.
"My father... was a scientist. We used to live in a big house... but he left after a while, when I was about six... you know that eyepatch I was wearing? Members of the Kourosai clan wear that on their right eye... well, only the women. It is said in our ancient scrolls that we possess a power to see 'The Eyes.' I don't know what they are, but that little girl over there..." Tomoro pointed to Sachi, still picking flowers. "She's heard of them. So I need to figure out what they are. Anyway, my father predicted that the power to see these things are within a human's own eyes, so he took my friends... I don't know why they suffered, but he... performed experiments on them. Horrible things... I can't even describe it. After failed research, he finally conducted an experiment on me... quite a few, actually. He said it was his time and mine, and since I was a little girl, I believed it was okay. He left after he couldn't find 'The Eyes' in me. But... I wear the eyepatch because he did something to my eye. He shoved something in it... and said that one day, I'll lose my humanity because of it. I'm a doll of war. It has recently come to my attention that a man I'm traveling with, Bukotsu... his brother died at birth due to my father's experiments, and his mother died during birth. Damn that man to hell."
By now, Tomoro's hands were clenched, knuckles a snow-white. Her teeth were gritted, and her visible eye was closed tightly. Instantly, she let go of all grip and tension within her body, and lay there, limp; a rejected doll. "I would... give anything for a life like yours, Kai... anything." Tomoro turned her head to the side, and rubbed her eye with the strength she had left; it always did drain her to tell that story. I wonder... what he thinks of me now. Probably that I'm a freak. I don't even care anymore.

Kai frowned and hugged Tomoro tightly, "I'm so sorry...And...there is really nothing I can do to help...It's...in the past...We cannot change the past..." He was going through positive outcomes of Tomoro's situation, but sadly, he came up blank. He kept hugging the girl and said quietly, "So...The only one that knows what 'the eyes' are...Is...that girl..." He started thinking and slowly pulled away from the distraught girl, "Don't worry...I don't think you are evil...So that's a good thing that you didn't inherit that from your father..." He smiled slightly, trying to lighten up the mood even just a little bit. He honestly didn't know how to help Tomoro cope with her pain. The best thing that he could do was offer a shoulder to cry on, which he would do in a heartbeat for any of his...well...his friend. He bit his lower lip and rummaged through his hidden knapsack again, searching for something. When he found what he was looking for, he hid it in his hands and looked up at Tomoro. He smiled innocently and held out his closed hands, "Here...I...want you...to have this...I'm...not sure if it will help...But...In my research...I have found many charms like this one...The markings on it...roughly mean 'Hope will guide you'..." He opened his hands and revealed a necklace that had an emerald pendant on it. In the emerald, there were small carvings of ancient letters long lost to the average human, but Kai had managed to stumble upon them in his studies. He kept smiling and continued what he was going to say, "...I...have also found out that whoever holds the 5 charms of the gods...Their deepest desire will come true...I...only have one of them...But it's a good start." He kept smiling and kept his arms outstretched, the emerald pendant glimmering in the sun.

Tomoro's grey eyes filled with tears as she slowly took the emerald pendant from him. "You're just... handing away all of your belongings... I can't take anything else..." Tomoro smiled slightly at him, and bent her head down, silver hair falling in front of her face. She brought up the pendant, and put it over her head, bringing it down onto her neck, where it rested between her collarbone and chest. After flinging her hair back up and onto the back of her head, she felt the pendant between her two fingers, it's green reflection shining dimly onto the ground.
"It's beautiful... I've never... received a gift this nice before... t-th..." Tomoro could barely spurt out the words 'thank you' to a man; after all, they were the ones that made her life a living hell. "...th.... thank you, Kai..." Tomoro gripped her heart tightly, and looked up at the top of the greenhouse; the only thing she could see was a blurred reflection of herself, one that looked like a popsicle melted on the ground. "5 charms of the Gods... The 'Eyes'.... what is this world we live in? There seem to be so many sacrifices, so many mysteries... "

((lol ok ^_^))
Kai turned a light shade of red and nodded, "Your welcome..." He smiled and looked up also, seeing his own reflection in the glass, "But...mysteries keep life fun...Well...the sacrifices truly aren't necessary...But mysteries are the spice of life..." He smiled slightly and his brown eyes shifted over to Tomoro, "Well...4 more charms to go and we'll have all five..." He tried to remember the other objects that he needed and when he had a pretty good idea of what they were he looked down at his lap, "The ring, the circlet, the anklet, the bracelet, and the necklace..." He slowly nodded, "Yes...That's it...The ring is diamond, circlet is sapphire, anklet is ruby, bracelet is amethyst, and the necklace is emerald...Yes...That's it..." He smiled brightly and looked over at Tomoro, "Trust, Happiness, Love, Loyalty, and Hope..." He nodded again, "Yes...I believe that is correct...I could be mistaken though..." He smiled again and looked back up at the glass roof, "So...What would you like to talk about?..." He didn't want their conversation to be sad again so he was hoping that this one would be happy and positive. He wanted to do his best to cheer his friend up.

Trust... something I don't have... actually, I don't possess any of those qualities, except for hope... "I... just don't know. To be honest, I don't know what to say." Tomoro then thought about what she said in front of Bukotsu, and Sachi, up on his shoulders. "You know... maybe you could be part of our group... I mean, we have Sachi... " Tomoro pointed over to Sachi once again, laughing slightly. "And we have another man... his name is Bukotsu. Very tall, very well-built, reddish brown hair.." Tomoro blushed, thinking of this man; he was the one who saved her from drowning. "We... all have seperate quests, but we've also come together... I wonder if that's what fate is like." Tomoro sighed, and stood up, brushing her maroon skirt off, removing any excess dirt and dust off. "Would you... care to take a walk?" Although Kai was her friend now, she still did not feel any compassion for a man. As she turned around, hair swiveling like a magical force was pulling it up, she pushed the side of her pouch, and her outfit instantly changed into her Lolita dress, ribbons practically sewn every 5 cm.
Tomoro also held her hand to the pouch; she held two guns in there. Juuuuuuust in case Kai tried anything tricky, she kept a firm grip on them, even though he looked pretty weak. She could probably take him out with one boot of hers, and a swift kick. Whatever was necessary.

Kai smiled and nodded, "A walk would be lovely..." He stood up and dusted off his butt and the backs of his legs, "Just let me grab my things..." He walked over to the shelf and grabbed his book and staff. He stuck his tongue out of the side of his mouth, shoving the book into his knapsack. He left the emerald and oak staff at his side, swaying it slightly as he walked back to Tomoro, "All right...Let's go!" He smiled sweetly and stood next to the girl, waiting for her to lead the way, "I...don't know where to go..." He turned a light shade of red and nodded at the girl's first comment, "I...guess it wouldn't hurt if I joined your group..." He smiled slightly and thought about it after awhile, "Bukotsu? Hmm...Sounds like an interesting name..." He bit his lower lip thoughtfully, not noticing the weapons at Tomoro's side.

"Yes... he's very... kind..." That's not the only word to describe him... but it's all I can think of. "He... saved my life... so I owe a lot to him." Tomoro brought out her lavender fan, swinging it around her finger. She quickly changed the subject, not wanting to seem like she liked Bukotsu in a different way than a friend or anything. "How many plants do you know of, Kai? There must be at least a thousand in here..." What do I talk about, what do I talk about...!? Tomoro coughed softly, turning her head away from Kai, as it was the polite thing to do.
She continued walking, gazing at all the plants as she slowly walked by. Each one held a different color, scent... they were just like people, she thought.

Kai smiled and nodded slightly, "He sounds like a very nice person..." He then thought about Tomoro's question, "Umm...I know all the plants in my book...That's my only source of information, really..." He laughed slightly and used his staff as a walking stick just for the heck of it. He had no idea what to talk about...He had never really had a friend that was a girl...so it was hard for him to pick a topic to talk about since he really had no idea what went on in a girl's mind, "Umm...Can I...ask you a question?...Do you...have feelings for that Bukotsu guy?...You seem to really like him..." He smiled sweetly and spun his staff around a little, trying to distract himself from the question that he had just asked Tomoro. His face was a bright red but he was hoping that the girl wouldn't notice it. His shining brown eyes remained in front of him and facing down slightly as he continued walking.

"...what?" Did I hear that correctly? Did he just asked if I liked liked Bukotsu...? Tomoro's pale peach skin turned a bright crimson as she looked away. "He saved my life... that's... all... I think. I don't know. I just... don't know." Tomoro stopped in the middle of her tracks, kicking up a bit of dirt. That sound... why... are the plants... moaning? Why...? "One moment, Kai..." Tomoro moved her hair to one side of her head, tilting her head to the side, her ears keen and alert. Tomoro's visible eye was darting from plant to plant, attempting to figure out which plant was moaning softly, causing all of the others to react. "Kai... can you hear that? I don't expect you to... but if you do, it should be a soft wail...."
Tomoro let go of her side, and ran East, toward the western area of the greenhouse. This is... huge... she thought, keeping her pace up. Tomoro didn't know if Kai could keep up with her; he may have been an inch or two taller, but her legs were stronger from the running she did as a child; the hiding from bullies, running from their ropes and other objects...

Kai blinked and tried to listen, "I...don't hear anything..." The healer's eyes went wide and he tried to follow Tomoro but he really couldn't stay directly behind her. He was slowly trailing behind farther and farther, soon he was about 8 feet behind her but he stopped when she did. He panted quickly, "Dang...You run very fast..." His legs were already aching, he hadn't ran that fast or that far for quite some time and he barely had any muscle mass on his body so that didn't really help at all. He propped himself up on his staff, still trying to catch his breath. His brown hair was matted to his forehead with the light buildup of sweat that gathered there. He didn't know what Tomoro had heard but he had a feeling it was important...very important...And he was going to try and help her any way he could.

Tomoro skidded to a halt, kicking up dirt in her tracks, like a hockey player ready to shoot a goal, barely caught up in her breath. She bent down quickly, her dress falling in layers behind her, and she stared intently at a single flower. What a strange flower it was... black, of all things, but still propped up, amazingly lively. She peered at it, eyes half closed, observing its texture. Rough, almost spiky, its petals were about the size of Tomoro's pinky finger, and they curled underneath, thorns piercing through them. Why... why is it crying out... such painful words....? It wants to be plucked.... and... burned? Why burned? Tomoro came nose-width close to the flower, sniffing it slightly. "Ashes... this flower... made of ashes? What is it doing here...?" I've heard of this flower before. Born out of people's revenge... and bad deeds. Someone on this campus is out to kill. Tomoro backed up, and with a swift motion, grabbed the flower from the very bottom of its stem, pulling it up quickly. It shot out, roots and all, and she held onto it tightly, despite the fact that the thorns were piercing into her skin.
A few droplets of blood fell onto the ground, but she held on, keeping it away from her, one hand holding it arms length away, and the other hand digging up the roots, dropping them into the center of the flower. "Almost done..." Tomoro recovered the soil, and patted it softly, a few black specks still stuck in the soil. She stood up, and pointed at Kai with her spare hand, the other becoming redder by the moment, due to her harsh grip on the thorns. "Kai... don't touch this."
((It's fine, believe me! Dx You don't have to say sorry, man. ))

Kai's eyes went wide and he held Tomoro's bleeding hand in his, "You're...hurt...Let me help!" He closed his eyes slowly and his hands started glowing. The light was a warm and gentle white, soothing the pain that was in the girl's hand. The light surrounded the punctures and closed them painlessly. The healer opened his eyes again and looked at his work, "There..." He then looked down at the black specks, "Umm...Ok...Why can't I touch it?" He raised a curious eyebrow, brown eyes searching the girl's for an answer. He had never seen that flower before so he was curious if it was poisonous or something. His eyes instantly went wide, "Is it poisonous!? If it is I have to heal you fast! If not, the poison could go all the way to your heart and spread throughout your body and slowly kill you...I don't want that to happen...Please don't say it's poisonous..." He frowned slightly, hoping that his idea was correct about the non-lethal flower.

Tomoro shook her head and laughed slightly. "It's poisonous... extremely poisonous. It kills most people within one hour of contact. But I'm not like most people, Kai." Tomoro rolled her head back, cracking her neck slowly. "Yeah, this flower is formed from the bad thoughts and deeds of others, extremely rare indeed. Some don't even believe it exists. My father, wanting me to be a weapon used for war, though, injected poison in my veins, expecting me to be immune or something. Pfft. This flower is nothing." Tomoro took the tainted flower, and stuffed it in her pouch, along with all the other herbs. It couldn't do any harm now that it was plucked from the ground. Tomoro yawned, almost out of boredom. They aren't... moaning anymore. Better check out later if it spread to other plants, though... "It smells of ashes. It's lonely, and sad." Tomoro coughed, and clutched her chest, bending over a bit.

((it sucks!!! MAJORLY!!! crying *is ashamed of self for sucking*))
Kai's eyes went wide and he quickly grabbed his staff with both hands, "But...Just to make sure..." He closed his eyes and the emerald gem on the end of the oak staff started glowing. He pointed it at Tomoro and started chanting almost silently. The words were that of the dead language that only he understood. It was the same language that was on the five charms of the gods...He thought that it was Angelic but he really wasn't sure. When the emerald gem was hidden behind the white aura, he stopped chanting and the light shot out of the staff and directly towards Tomoro. It hit her and surrounded her body in the warm, inviting white light that healed her hand. It entered her skin and searched her veins for the poison injected in her veins. When the magic found it, the white aura surrounded the chemicals and carried it out of her skin painlessly. It created a glass vial around the poison, landing in Kai's hand. The healer slowly opened his eyes and smiled slightly, "There...Now that that poison is taken care of...I could try and work on the other poison that your father put in you..." He blinked slightly, although his healing techniques were somewhat...odd...They worked very well. He looked down at the vial and noticed that the poison was a dark green, almost black in the glass container. He bit his lower lip thoughtfully and put the poison in his knapsack, away from the light so it wouldn't get overheated. Kai's brown eyes then found their way back to Tomoro's eyes, awaiting an answer to his previous statement.
