User ImageKalia stood in the middle of the yard her blades in her hands, two blades only about as wide across as a few millimeters but wickedly sharp. The blades were unadorned, but the guard and hilt were etched with elegant scrolling. She wove the blades around her in slow elegant patterns to warm up her muscles.

User Image Kia watched her as she moved, walking out to the yard. Finding a spot someplace near the house, he sat down, observing her moves. She looked to be a practiced swords women. The swords seemed familiar in style, but at the same time he didn't know them. it was like he knew what they where, but had never seen them before in his life. Hoping he wasn't disturbing her, Kia spoke up, "What kind of weapons are those?"

Once again, Kia could feel eyes looking at him. He turned his head, but couldn't see anything. There seemed to be nothing there. He had a bad feeling about this, but with Kalia around, he felt better about things. Before he was alone, and defenceless. Now he was being protected by Kalia, in more way than he would have liked. He owed her his life. She saved it a couple of times already.

Meanwhile, Kalia got a small sniff of cologne again, a faint smell on the breeze. It was almost like the cologne had stuck to something nearby and kept blowing to her.

User ImageKalia paused in her drilling to reply since she wasn't really sure of the answer, "They are swords... Um... the blades are folded japanese steel... the guards and hilts thought are from Ireland...." she said before taking the first step into one of the more complex of her pattern dances. Her eyes slimmed slightly in concentraion and the look in them whispered death as she moved at a blurred speed for humans but a slightly more decernable pace for weres... or vampires. There was nothing left of Kalia in her eyes just the cold cool efficency to take care of what needed to be done.

User Image Kia watched. He understood what she meant. It wasn't her sword practicing, but the attitude she placed herself into when he practiced.

To Kia, the swords moved in nothing but a blur. Though he had the powers of a vampire, and great speed himself, he wasn't use to it. He didn't even know the extent of his own powers. His mouth hung open as he watched, but even though he was amazed and frightened, he felt like he could trust her with his life. He has so far.

He still couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched, and turned his head around again. He still couldn't see anything. Maybe it was nothing. It probably was. It was hard for him not to get mesmerized by Kalia's speed with a sword. If he even tried half the things he could see, he probably would be as much a danger to himself as he was to any opponents. Then again, he didn't think he could do it as such speed.

After some time, he just sat there and watched her. He had nothing else to do, and the motion was somehow calming to his frayed nerves. He actually just realized all that had happened in the past few days, right then. The attacks. The blood. The weird dream. Then he wondered, what happened before he.. he.. bit her? He awoke above her, his fist traveling at her from behind. If she didn't have the reflexes she did, and if he hadn't woken up when he did to pull back... he wished not to think about it. Instead, he wished to know what happened. "Kalia, can I ask you something?" He was quiet, not wanting to disturb her practice. He was quiet enough that if she wanted to, she could ignore him and continue. She could even claim she didn't hear him, and he wouldn't have any grounds to argue, not that he would.

User ImageKalia was near the end of her pattern and finished with an extra flourish she jumped up as of over a pair of blades decapitated her inviable enemies and landed in a kneel both her swords sliding back into their sheathes with a click, "Yes?" she asked looking up, a soul once more in her eyes.

User Image Kia watched as she finished her moves. They were impressive, at least to him and his untrained self. "I was wondering, about this morning, or was it last night?" He had no sense of reference for that time. It could have been a few days apart, with him sleeping the whole time and he would not have known it. "I awoke above you... I don't remember how I got there... I was kinda wondering..." He was nervous about this, as he didn't want to bring it up. "It... it isn't much. Really, but I don't remember how I got up there. I just awoke behind you." He looked down to the ground, and avoided her face at that point. His checks flared a little as he felt embarrassed for admitting he couldn't remember the event, and for bring it back up. He wished that moment didn't happen. He didn't want to hurt Kalia.

User Image"You jumped..." she paused, "Well it was more of a lunge..." she shrugged, "Muscle memory, reflex whatever you want to call it... I'll just be a little more careful next time I come to wake you up..." she said off handedly, "What ever you were in the past was formidable... if your subconscious skills are that good..."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 7:17 pm

User Image Kia still didn't feel right with that. "I was having a nightmare, as I'm sure that was the reason you came to wake me up. Beyond that, nothing till I awoke in the air behind you. With what I saw you just do, I shouldn't have been able to do that. Not that easily." He remembered the shock on her face, as she barely avoided his punch. He was glad she did, as he would never have forgiven himself for hurting her of all people.

He still couldn't look her in the face. He felt like ashamed. Here he was being protected by her and he tried to hit her? Even in his sleep, it wasn't right. He didn't get this. Things were changing too fast, and there was nothing he could do about it.

User ImageKalia sighed, "It was reflex..." she said again and when reasoning wouldn't work she tried a touch of teasing, "I probably wold have done the same thing..." her smile was faintly challegning, "Only I wouldn't have missed..."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 14, 2009 7:31 pm

User Image Kia got sent of the challenge, "I only missed because I woke up and didn't want to hit you." he shot his head up, staring her in the eyes. His eyes seemed to be a little wet, and red rimmed. Like he was fighting tears. For him, they where tears of frustration. "I still don't believe that I could have gotten up there on reflexes. I'm just not that fast. I saw what speed your capable of, in a run and with a sword. You are faster than me." Kia was admitting a hurtful truth. He liked her being faster and stronger than him, for some odd reason, but he hated to admit it.

As soon as he said it, he looked away. He was loosing what competitive spirit he had. He couldn't out run her even on his best day. She had the reflexes, land speed, and training. All he had was, four years of track and normal human life. He was a college student. He didn't train with swords, nor did he even see on before a few days ago. She was fully ready to take on a fight, and win. He was just a tag along. A weak no one. He couldn't even defend himself when he needed to.

User ImageKalia smiled as he rose o her challenge but her smile fell as he let his mind defeat him, "Get over it!" she said sharply, "What ever problem you have get over it! If you defeat yourself with doubt before you even go into battle you will never win! That I can promise you." She sighed and caught the scent of too strong cologne again, just a whiff, "Don't think you can't until after you tried... and tried..."

User Image Kia was furious with himself. "I already did! If not for you, I would be dead right now. Several times over! And then I try to hurt you! Aren't you mad at me? Don't you hate me?" He stood up, staring her in the eyes now. Then, he softened his resolve. She was right. She was saving him from despair. He still felt helpless, but he felt better now.

"I think I need to sit now." Kai faked being tired, or weak. He wanted the argument he started to end. Sitting down, with his knees to his chin and his arms wrapped around his legs. He sat there, thinking again. There had to be some solution to all this. Something aside from all the madness going on around him. All that came to him was Kalia. He had to trust her. She trusted this council. Therefor, he should trust them as well. He remained silent on these thoughts. He would ask her in a moment, but not till he gather his own cool again. He wanted to be able to defend himself, at least. He didn't want Kalia to get hurt in his place.

User ImageKalia knelt to look him in the eyes, "That's better..." she said a hint of pride in her voice, "I will work as hard as I can to see that this solved... but I want you to believe in yourself as well..." She sighed and rose fluidly to her feet, "The only people I have ever hated gave up on life... if you continue to fight to live... no matter what you do to me I won't hate you..." she said.

User Image Kia sat there. He was still in a rather dark mood, but talking was helping. This was something he had been dealing with all day within himself. Mumbling to himself, though a little loudly, Kia said, "I never said I would give up on living and die." He was determined to live. He had too many questions that needed answering. Who was he? What was he? What did he do to get that werewolf angry at him? Far too many questions.

Looking at the ground in front of him, Kia gathered a little courage. "I think... I think I should... talk... to this council." He was sure some answers would be there. He was so sure. First, he had to deal with discovering what he was. He didn't want another incident like last night to happen. Weather she said it hurt her or not, Kai did not want a repeat.
