(Er...Once again, I'm far behind so I'll just...try...to catch up. ^^; )

"Thanks but no thanks," Freya answered to the girl. "My attention syndrome wouldn't like it to be ignored." She grinned and hurried inside to save Pietro's brain from turning into jelly from behind shaken for too long. She grabbed Wanda's while a small ball of green light entered her body. Pietro was blinded by a flash of light and both vanished from his sight as fast as Wanda came back into his life.

Wanda found herself outside the house but still on the institute's grounds. She gave Freya a death glare that only she had the secret. "Why did you do that?!"

Freya shook his head just like a mentor would when his student asked him a stupid question. "You are impossible sometimes, Wanda. Listen, we're not here to discuss your brother's ways. He can have all the kids he wants. Why should you care?" At that question, she grinned a little. She knew Wanda cared about Pietro even if she wanted to crush his skull half of the time. Since Wanda didn't answer, she continued. "It seems Emma has other matters to deal with. It's not even fun to go anymore," she said with a bored voice. She remained silent for a while, listening to spirits around the house. "Oh...? Is that so?"

"What's going on?"

"Trouble of course. Sasha seems to have some baby problems while everyone is getting kicked inside Penance's mind. Oh well... I guess that I could help but we'll see if they even care. I bet not." On this, she dragged Wanda inside the house again.

"I think I'm starting to understand why both countries want you dead now," said Wanda sarcastically.

"Thats ok Gen..." Glancing inside. "Yea, I guess Miss frost zapped them all into Penny's mind to help her fix whatever went wrong..." Rachael stepped next to Gen with a slightly cautious look getting an uneasy feeling about this person. "Hia, welcome to Xaviers....is there something we can help you with?" She was slowly activating one of her powers so her skin tone paled slightly. "I'm Rachael and this is Gen, what's your name?"

"Thank you, Morgan," Penance put a hand on his shoulder and Jamies, "It's nice to have a moving distance of more than ten feet..."

She smiled to Jacen but was speechless for the moment on what to say. It had been a very long time. Had time changed things?

"I know you all want your kicks in, but I've the biggest score to settle," Penance knew this was her mind and manipulating things was now up to her. She was able to form her own psychic blade of sorts from her own mental energy. Jade backed into a corner and wasn't able to fade anywhere. Penance wouldn't let her.

"This is my head, and I've learned this much... you aren't going anywhere unless I say so," Penance cracked her across the jaw.

"It's not in your nature to hurt an unarmed person," Jade said in her own defence.

"No, that's not... but see when it comes down to me or them, it's always me... and I'll be damned if I let you do this to me or anybody else again. You stole your last body, Jade. Say goodbye."

Without hesitation, Penance put the blade through Jade's essense and it dissipated immediately. Jade believed herself to die so she died. She was no more. Emma confirmed this.

Jade is no more. I can't read her anywhere in this mind or this room.

"Better be," Penance said and watched the hallway they were in brighten up. WIthout Jade there, it wasn't as dark and haunting, "Now, that's more like it."

Putting an arm around Jacen and Regina, "Let's please go home."

"You're sedated, remember?" Regina said.

"Then I"ll see you in a bit."

Sonya grabbed Cathy's and Markus's hands. "We're gonna find Professor Hank," she declared, "Hang on." Then she suddenly shot off through the house, dragging the other two along with her. Gotta make sure Sasha and the baby are gonna be alright, she thought to herself. She ran towards the infirmary and saw Regina, Racheal, and Teagan standing there. She stopped. "Hey, have any of you seen Professor Hank?" "What's with them," Racheal asked, pointing at Markus and Cathy. Sonya looked and gasped. They were laying dizzy on the floor, a little shocked. And a fire trail was behind them. "I guess I got a little over excited," she said, before the fire sensors beeped and water rained on them and all through the house. "Sorry!" pleaded Sonya, soaking wet, some sparks coming off of her. She looked at the new guy. "Oh hi, I'm Sonya. Who are you?"

Markus was about to open his mouth when Sonya grabbed him and Cathy and took off down the hall. "Sonya Relax!" He said after they had stopped. He looked up as the spinkler system went off. Starting to feel a bit off he quickly hit the nearby override switch and shut it off. "Sprinkler system works...Professer Hank should already be in the infirmery..." Noting the others. "No idea, but I think its under control."

((Suffering from a serious case of writers block.........Has idea for mutant, the 'replacement' for jade, ponders.))
Standing beside his blue ford escape, gas flowing into his tank at a pace equal to robbing his wallet. Grumbling about american car standards, he finishes up, waiting for his receipt.
When nothing comes out, he checks the pump. 'Paper empty, pick up receipt inside.' Sighing, he heads inside, at least things couldn't get any worse. After getting it from a 19 year-old with acne, he heads for the door as it's opened from the outside.
The man who had opened the door, dressed in a leather vest, t-shirt and jeans, grabs Kris, and pressing a knife to his neck, demands the contents of the register, saying he's a mutant who can make things explode. This was a false, claim, but it had made clerks hand over money without retailiation, for fear of an explosion.
As the clerk empties the register, Kris decides to put his two cents in. "You have ten seconds to improve my mood," he tells the robber, who politely tells Kris to go f*** himself. Kris istead starts counting to ten, gel plates growing out of his skin on his right hand. At four he acts, grabbing the knife holding hand with his left hand and bringing his right hand back in a light backhand.
It's a light backhand because a full force one almost definatly would have killed the robber. Instead, he just breaks his nose, teeth and lower jaw. In the way to the hospital, the pramedics would comment that it looked like he'd been hit with a sledgehammer, and that it would need to be wried shut.
As the robber falls to the recently mopped floor, Kris turns to leave.
"You only counted to four," the clerk stutters, the only thing that made sense to him at the time. "...I'm an impaitent person," Kris syas as he leaves the store and drives away. The clerk, snapping out of it, calls the police, and by the evening, drawings of Kris and a description of what he had done is all over every local news station.

OOC: wanted to throw this out there since i probably won't be around until tomorrow.

IC:

One by one, Emma pulled her friends out of Penance's head. So she sat alone until the sedatives wore off her body and she could wake up again. Her mind was pleasently quiet for a change. She had gotten so used to the cruel chaos that she didn't know what to do. The place didn't seem to dark anymore. Jade had managed to make everything look like a living hell...like Jade's own life.

Penance didn't really feel sorry for her. There were other methods to living that Jade could have persued... not stealing and not forcing her will on other people. She was pretty sure Jade could have found willing participants in sharing their mind or found a body that losts its soul forever... not that it really made it right. It would have been better than the life she was leading.

Yes, Penance had Jade's so called blood on her hands. That was something she would have to deal with in time. More importantly, she had to deal with the fact that Jade put blood on Penance's hands and there was nothing Penance could do to change that. This must have been how the hounds of Ahab felt... how Jacen felt when he came back from being Fear.

The sedatives wore off of her body in about ten minutes. Her healing abilities sucked them right through her. Finally, she had sensation to her limbs. She was in control. It was her hands moving. She was doing it. It was her sight, not Jade's... it was her mind in control.

Her eyes were foggy and didn't want to focus for a moment. There was one person in particular she was looking for and when her eyes decided they wanted to work she found Jacen... and smiled, "Hey stranger."

Cathy got up and started wringing her shirt out. "Well, and here I thought Pietro was the only speed demon around...." She looked at Sonya then to the new guy. She took careful note of the claws and tail. "Hey stranger."

"I haven't seen you around before. Are you new here?" came a voice from behind Kidd. Raze was standing there, smiling slightly at the new arrival.

Kidd jumped at the sudden voice. she turned around to see a boy smiling at her.
"well, yes I am new. I just got here. about.... an hour or so ago." kidd brushed her blue hair behind her ear. it was a habit. " and I'm kind lost... big place up know. I've never been in such a winding mazy building before. hey ar-are you new too?" she studded a little at the of some one in the same boat as her. she looked quickly down at her feet. good no snow.

((thanks. btw I didn't join the event going on down stairs because it sounded personal and to deep for me. I hope you get my meaning. thanks again))

"Nope. I've been here for 'bout a year. You looked kind of lost, so I figured that I should be the one to greet you. What's your, by the way? I'm Raze. You want a quick tour?" he said, extending his hand to the lost-looking girl. Why did she keep glancing at her feet? Eh, probably something to do with her powers, he thought to himself. "What are you powers, if you don't mind my asking"

A soft hiss of a snarl was given as he backed away from the group. Tail lashed about behind him like a whip, claws clicking on the floor. He tried to stand up straight, but he encountered a very sharp pain that caused him to make a very inhuman roar-like sound. He had definately landed on it wierd, nothing his body couldn't heal, but for now it hurt like hell.

OOC: Just wanted to do all this cause I'm gonna be gone all weekend. GWAR TIME MOTHERF******!!!!!!!!!!!! YEA!!!!!!!

IC: Jacen knew he was going to be outmatched, so when everyone else stepped up to the plate, he just played a ranged game while the others took care of Jade. This was the first time he had really been on the psychic plane, and it disoriented him. The fact he had encountered some random memories completely threw him off guard to boot. But before he knew it, it was over. Everyone was back standing in the infirmary over or around Penance's bed, Emma smiling a bit. Rather successful, they seemed to be.

Ten minutes passed, and Jacen heard a quiet voice; he was chatting with Emma for the moment, then turned around. "Howdy stranger," Penance said as she came to.

"Hey. Long time, no see," Jacen replied as he unfastened the restraints that were as of yet not taken care of. She sat up quickly, quicker than most would coming out of heavy sedation. But he knew she'd do just that. The boon of self-healing.
There was a moment that Jacen debating on leaving. Just walking away. He was torn by his inaction over finding her in the first place during her disappearance, but what did his relative inactivity in her rescue say? Instead though, Jacen just held his hand out and helped her stand up. Then, for whatever reason, he gave her a big hug.

"It's good to have you back," Regina said, happiness was definitely in her voice.

"I'd have to agree," he whispered in Penance's ear before he was rudely interrupted by a telepathic voice.

Meet me in my office, please. We have alot to discuss. Of course it was Emma. And she wasn't sounding too pleased with Jacen. It must be noted though, that she was standing behind him, and he could not see the look levied his way. It wasn't pleasant. Letting go of his embrace, he didn't say a word as he walked out towards the elevators. With Emma on his heels, he knew he wouldn't have to wait long to get chewed out.
******************************************************************

When Jacen opened up the office doors, he saw Cyclops standing at the far end, by Xavier's old desk, and sighed heavily. It was going to be bad with the boy scout drug into this.

"Sit," Emma commanded as she walked around the desk and sat in her chair. With an annoyed look, she spoke harshly, "I demand to know what exactly what that was!"

".....Honestly.....I don't know. I felt unsure about the situation....I had never been in that plane before......," Jacen wasn't sure about what to say, but finally he said, "I....hesitated." Cyclops just shook his head in disapproval.

"Maybe all of this has been a waste of time," he said sharply.

"Excuse me?" Jacen was offended by that remark and was wondering what, exactly, he had meant by that.

"No....," Emma said calmly, "It hasn't been a waste of time. Jacen....you've been training with Wolverine and Nightcrawler exclusively for the past three months. Do you have any idea why that may be?"

"Um....you want me to do liver push-ups?," Jacen replied, in obvious reference to his beer outings with his friends. Emma's cold stare erased Jacen's smirk.

"Jacen," Cyclops said, his voice calmed a bit now, "Times have changed. This past year has brought on alot of different outlooks, and now that we even harbor the Brotherhood here...."

"What he's trying to say dear, is that as the times change, so do we," Emma concluded. "With the government trying to crackdown on mutants in the populous after Forge's outburst.....we need to take a more proactive approach."

"And with you poised to lead a squad....hesitance is not an option on the field," Cyclops said, "I know. A split-second can mean a life or a death."

"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Did you just say 'lead a squad'?"

"Yes. A small infiltration unit, meant to disrupt the machine when need be. When it seems like there will be someone moving against us." Emma was serious. Jacen knew she was serious. He knew they were both serious.

"You've talked with Logan about this?," Jacen asked the both of them.

"Of course. He has no problem with you taking lead."

"...Al....alright...." Jacen was unsure about leading anything. Sure, he could give orders, but he couldn't exactly lead..... he thought that it was a failed experiment.

"I must tell you though, the majority of the people in this school, they don't need to know." Cyclops was just as serious about this, as he was about Jacen leading. "Granted, I'm sure you will wind up telling the people you trust. It's to be expected. On the whole though, you will do your everyday routine here. Teach a small class, train with your partners, mobilize with the team need be."

"You will know when you are all needed," Emma said, "You can go visit with Penance now."

Jacen could have sworn he heard her say, "You're welcome," as he walked out of the office.

OOC: Enjoy your concert smile

When Jacen left the Infirmary, Penance's gut reaction of the moment was to cry. Everybody had changed, had their own lives from the past year, but she stayed the same... asside from having a merciless killer in her head. Had he moved on in his life? Jacen and Regina were the two things that kept her hanging on for the past year. Otherwise she would have accepted oblivion.

"God, Regina..." Penance wiped her face and looked at her hands. People really take for granted moving their hands, "I'm sorry for all of this... She would have killed all of you if she wasn't so stupid."

Regina escorted Penance out of the Infimary and back up to what used to be their room. Penance grabbed a pair of scissors before they walked out of the door. Regina looked at them slightly alarmed with the randomness.

"I'm cutting my hair," Penance glanced at her sideways with a definate voice. "My skin crawls thinking of Jade controling me, and since I can't get rid of that... I'm getting rid of this infernal black hair... or most of it."

"Ah, it will grow back in two weeks sthe way you go anyway," Regina opened the elevator and Penance smiled nodding in agreement.

"What's going on in this place?" Penance asked, "There are brotherhood here... I have been out of current events for quite awhile... How've you been? How has Jacen been? Has he moved on from me... not that I'd blame him... I kinda disappeared one day..."

Penance walked into their dorm room and it felt the same... like nothing had moved in over a year. By the feel of it, Regina hadn't been in the room either. Sitting on the bed, Penance grabbed the pictures from the last summer's beach adventure, "I feel like that was my yesterday. I missed an entire year of my life. I just don't know how to deal with this."

She nodded over towards the desk, "Looks like you have a note."

Her face became stained with a few tears again as she looked at her pictures. She wiped them away and put the small album away. Penance wasn't the type of person to dwell, but she felt cheated of her life while she thought about it. In a way, it scared her that that world moved on and she didn't. If she could kill Jade again, she would. To top it all off, Jade's blood was on her hands... all of Jade's victims were on her hands.

Picking up the scissors and turning into a wall mirror, Penance started hacking away at the long black hair Jade had kept so intact. Penance hated her own site because it reminded her of that demon. When she was done, her hair was above her shoulder and layered like crazy. Enough change that Penance didn't have to see Jade when she looked in the mirror.

"I need my own clothes," She mumbled and dug through her closet to find something and shedded her 'skin' as Jade, "Sorry, Regina... I have a lot of issues to deal with at the moment."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 29, 2005 6:34 am

Regina sat on her bed with the note, waiting to open it. "Don't worry Penny... I'm just glad we're back. We can do some clothes shopping later if it helps you any."

She sighed a bit, noticing the hand writing. "Actually, I've been gone as long as you have. After you left, I couldn't take it anymore. I just wasn't ready to be a leader. Porter had left too so... I didn't see much point in sticking around. Gen tagged along to "find herself" as she put it... So I have no idea why the bhood is here too."

She read the note and blinked. "He's back?"

Penance wanted to tell Regina that it's not as easy as buying new clothes. That will help to get away from the feeling of Jade... Penance finally understood what Jacen felt like when he had to deal with the aftermath of Ahab, and she felt really naive about anything she told him at the time... it wasn't you. It wasn't your fault. You didn't do those things. She told all four of them that. But now she knows, it's not that simple.

"I need a shower or something... so how about you go see your man and I'll catch up with you for dinner... We both have some stories to tell," Penance grabbed some of her old things that hadn't gone bad and went to the girl's shower room.

The shower room was even different. It was expanded for the amount of new students. Penance felt out of place. She wasn't really a student anymore of Xavier's... what was her place here? Was she wanted or needed? All of these questions kept hitting her... things she never thought of before. Somehow she had to accept that the world had moved on.

After a quick shower, Penance pulled her shorter hair back and left random peices hanging down around her face. Jeans, she hadn't worn jeans in ages. They felt like a familiar peice of home. Over one of her tube tops she threw on a sweatshirt she had stolen from Jacen as some point last summer. She needed that familiarity at the moment.

Walking out and around the Institute, she saw a lot of familiar faces and many she didn't recognize. She found herself going to the kitchen... it was the one place she always could count on finding something or somebody familiar. If anything else, she could find food: her fifth passion in life.
