Ashierra laughed easily as she listened, smile stuck to her face when she read her lips. With her peripherral vision, she saw a couple in the group moving around, but they were too far behind her vision to see clearly what they were doing. She started chewing quicker than before. "I was about to say, you never lieing is about as true as saying syrins have wings." She giggled.
Tuula rolled her eyes. "Don't be so cocky. They cover their magic here as much as possible because it's usually easy to trace. This wouldn't be a hidden camp long if there was magic traced all over it. That was just a fundamental trap for small animals and non-magics."

"You mean syrins do have wings?" Joked Jade in between quick bites of the food. Quickly the cattaur reached for her cup of water and took a deep drink. Her stomach was already feeling full, though she realized that it had help from a certain corner which had kinda gone silent.
Alek frowned, "But if we focused enough couldn't' we see it?" He finally asked as he gazed about. "How do you know?" But really Alek understood that he was horrible at these type of things. Fire yes, but still when it came to anything else to do with magic he turned out to be pretty much a failure.

"I'm sorry to break it to ya, but no wings." She giggled. Her hand clenched in her lap as she forced down another bite. She looked up at the bar and saw the bartenders sharing nervous glances with each other. This didn't look good. The foxtaur had disappeared into a back room. She kept her eyes on them. "Aww, you're boyfriend left it looks like." She said lightly, letting Jade know the workers knew something was up as well.
Tuula's mouth turned down in a snarl. "It would help if that stupid naga didn't hang around them. He's not always around, but he's dangerous when he is. Powerful magic he has..." She blinked away a memory of when he had sent magic after her when they first met. She'd rather not repeat the encounter. "I've been watching them since they moved here a couple months ago. I know."

Jade pouted, "Aww...really? Guess I better just leave the money with another waiter then. Unless-Oh! I'll just find him so I can give him the tip." She nodded towards the bar secretly pointing to the backroom with her eyes, "Let's pay and leave then?" She asked softly.
"A naga?" Hissed Alek quietly surprise clear on his face. A growl formed in his throat. Nagas...he once had to put up with them before and that hadn't been a pretty experience. "That's not good news at all." His tail flicked angrily behind him. "No wonder they've had such a successful camp up here." But why would a naga waste time...unless he was being paid or just bored maybe? No telling about the rogues.

Ashierra giggled. "Just don't stay back there too long. What would I tell Alek if I came home without his dearest?" She looked back at the bar and nodded. "Yes. I'm full anyway. Maybe I could get a bag to take the rest home in." She said as she started to get up, hand tightly gripping her plate.
Tuula glanced back and nodded. "Yeah. He's a real pain in my side. I hope this is one of his weeks off. He comes and goes. And I don't know why." She answered his unvoiced question. "But I suspect payment. There's something else behind it too. They're a dark bunch. Who knows what twisted trait bonds them together."

Something conflicted crossed Jade's features before she quickly put up a smile. "Of course." She purred and after grabbing her plate headed towards the counter. But she wasn't too hurried in her steps as she made sure that there wasn't too much distance between her and Ashierra. 'So far so good.'
"Ah. That sounds true enough." Replied Alek bitterly as he padded along the trail. He swept his gaze pointedly about the place, "I just dont' understand their placement. I mean it's a nice village and all...but why here? Besides the mountains being a good refuge, why not somewhere busier where they can grab more goods?"

Fighting to not look at the now silent group, Ashierra made sure to stay right behind Jade as she wondered about the other look. She was watching Jade's face for hints, but that confused look threw her off. She flicked her ears as she heard chairs being moved across the floor. Even the other customers seemed to use only hushed voices now...
Tuula looked back at Alek with a blank face, as if she was trying to not smack him upside the head. "Taurs travel through here a lot. It's hard to get around the mountains." Her eyes narrowed. "Besides me, who is around to hear anyone yell for help?"

Feeling a small tap on her shoulder Jade looked up and smiled gratefully at the foxtaur. 'Thank you, sir.' She thought nodding and moving away from the group's view. Jade moved from behind the counter towards the room and made sure Ashierra was right behind her before closing the door to the backroom. "Let's leave this place." She purred lightly finding the secret exit. Her paws stepped softly onto the grassy yard and barely hesitated before she started around the corner. The wind was awfully still though...
"True, true indeed." Replied Alek though his eyes were distant. What kind of travelers would travel through such a place with enough money or goods to really attract a naga? Alek just couldn't understand how the bandits could make enough to even dream of paying a naga to help them. his tail twitched. Maybe there was more to this?

Also giving the foxtaur an appreciative smile and his hand a squeeze, Ashierra ducked through the door after Jade. Inhaling deeply, she shook off the nervous energy that clung to her from the room. "Lets." Starting after Jade, she held back a couple steps. "You think we could take the long way around. I'd rather avoid the main street for as long as possible." She was thinking that any from that group would have to go out the front of the building, and they'd be seen quickly in that empty street. That is, if those men were really interested in them...
Tuula sighed and looked forward again, briefly wondering what Alek was thinking about. Now she was also pouting to herself. She should know more about that naga than she did. He was still a mystery to her. How annoying! Her tail twitched in irritation as they left the path, the village coming into sight, looking small from their height. She sniffed the air and cocked her head. "I don't see anything going on... Maybe they went to bother the other end of the path?"

"Umm...sure." Jade answered quickly, her nerves were running high because of the wind's absence and she knew that it wasn't by natural means. Something was jamming her subconscious wind magic and the cattaur wasn't too happy with the knowledge.
Jade's tail swung behind her as she turned towards the long way, "Hurry Ashierra!" She called out softly her paws barely touching the ground as she moved. But something was already moving in the shadows around them.
"Maybe." Replied Alek snapping out of his thoughts and back into reality. His eyes narrowed as he looked down into the village. Suddenly the cattaur noticed something, "Hey, the wind is still." He frowned, of course any breeze could drop completely. But Jade was down there...and knowing her natural abilities- something was odd.

"Jade." Ashierra whispered cautiously, the hairs on the back of her neck and along her spin prickling. Her hands tingled with heat as she held in her magic. Feeling the threat, she would normally just lash out. Normally, that would take care of it. Normally. This wasn't normal though. So she hurried quickly after Jade, ears swiveling for sounds around them.
Tuula blinked at Alek's words. He was right... How had she not noticed? Cocking her head, she brought up her own breeze, extending it around them and down to the village. She gasped when she felt her magic hit a wall as it reached the village. "What on earth?!" Thoroughly embarrassed that Alek had noticed before she had, she growled angrily. "I don't like this. Come on." She hurried down the path.

"Just-Just keep walking." Whispered Jade softly as she hurried along. But suddenly she felt an invisible push which nearly sent her tumbling backwards into Ashierra. Growling the cattaur noted for the first time that a wall had been suddenly built blocking them from the road and shutting them into a back alley. "Be careful." She looked at Ashierra and backed up next to her companion before looking about with shifty eyes. They were close and already she could see that one's gleaming eyes.
"Run faster!" Yelled Alek as he hurried after Tuula. Panic and worry filled him as everything passed by in a blur of colors. His eyes only focused in on the village where his two friends were. Flames sparked down his back as his mind raced with the unwanted possibilities.

Ashierra caught Jade as she fell back, digging in her feet to keep from walking over her. "You can kick me later when we get out of this." She grumbled quietly, feeling her cheeks warm. At least in the main road, they would be in the open. Someone could have seen.... Genius. She reached a hand to the wall, yanking it back as soon as she touched it, feeling its dark purpose. "s**t." She growled, flames sparking up along her arms as she turned to face the shifting shadows. She bared her teeth as a deep, malicious chuckle grazed her ears.
"Don't get too rash." She snapped, hoping he heard her through his worry as she moved to the side to let him pass. She knew that even her running at top speed he would still be faster, especially as she used her wind to help them along. "Remember, they far outnumber us, whatever they may be up to."

"No worries." Whispered Jade as she regained her balance. "Seems we might have to fight a bit, Ashierra." Her mind raced with several curses while wondering where the hell Alek was. 'Figures when you really need a male he's never-' Jade's thoughts were interrupted by the chuckle.
Her fur stood on end as several of the group approached from the shadows. Oddly enough it seemed a mixed group and Jade was surprised to see a gray cattaur in their midst. A dark aura pulsed around him as he smirked, "Hello ladies." For a second the cattaur looked slightly apologetic as he looked at them. "Seems that you're not the cattaur I originally thought you were." He frowned slightly as if he couldn't believe his bad judgement, "That stupid mountain female has been getting really annoying so when you used wind I thought-"
"So there's nothing against us right?" Growled Jade glaring at the male. "Just let us be then! Lower this wall!" Wind swirled around her paws in anger.
"Sorry, I don't think they'd like that." The cattaur gave a sly smirk and nodded towards the shadows where the bandits were already slinking out from, weapons in hand. Jade bit back a curse and pulled back to stand right next to Ashierra. Already her mind was racing for solutions...
"I don't care!" Alek roared back to the female, "What if Ashierra and Jade are down there?" Heat raced through him as fire sparked to life. He would never forgive himself if something happened!

Ashierra nodded. "Fine." She could use something to fight, though, the sight of weapons of the non-magic taurs put her off the idea a bit. "Well, they'll just have to deal with it. We're not your business, so be off there."
"I'm certainly dissappointed." A disembodied voice hissed. It was a tenor, the words lengthened by an odd accent, and followed by a cracked laugh. "But these two... they should be fine, for now." He laughed again as the other bandits made agreeing noises or grinned back at him.
Ashierra searched for the owner of the voice, but none of them had spoken. Then she saw something glitter, two narrow eyes floating in the darkest of the shadows. When her's connected to them, she felt a sharp shiver crawl up and back down her spine, and had to force herself to keep from looking away. Who, or what, was that? Of all the bandits, who mearly made her angry, only this hidden male truly scared her.
"You're gonna care when one of them knocks you on your a** for not paying attention!" She growled back at him. She looked at how small the village still seemed. "To hell with this!" Suddenly, an appendage like a branchless tree trunk emerged from the rock in front of them. "Come on!" Grabbing Alek's arm, she yanked him after her and clung to the plant as it grew straight down the hill, passing over the twists of the path. The village quickly grew, and a sense of dark magic hit her. The bandits were there...
