"Miss St. Claire, I should inform you that things on the main land are not going well. The creatures are in sizeable numbers, and these three only just escaped with their lives."

*Bobby heard Ruby's voice from the next room, even before he smelled the pot pie cooking* It wasn't a dream...
*When he reached the door, he saw her...she seemed almost to glow in the light of the stove...*

"Ain't enough to light on fire anymore." Ruby peeked out of the kitchen, pointing at her shortened locks.
She glanced up at Slate, "They were doin' somethin' stupid, weren't they."
Ruby peeked back around the corner and yelled at Alloran again "Weren't you! Somethin' Stupid!"
She turned back to Slate "What'd they do, run into the main camp with no plan of attack?"
"Stupid!" She yelled towards Alloran again.

Ruby glanced back at Bobby when she heard him speak. "Sore eyes? you got a headache, sug?" She smiled, handing him an aspirin and a juicebox. "Take this and tell me when you're feelin' better, so I can yell at you, like all the others."

"Stupid." Ruby walked in, plonking a plate of food in front of Alloran. "Well you coulda tried to get some information on 'em, or sabbataged their supplies, thought to count their numbers. Now I ain't denyin I wouldn't, or haven't, done the same thing. I run into the mess all the time. But it's still stupid, and you all got what was comin' to you."

Alloran muttered a barely audible "thanks" as she set down the food. He started digging in with his fingers, scooping the food into his mouth. "Eh, not bad kid, not bad."
He continued glopping it into his mouth, talking between bites.
"There were about twenty to thirty of the bastards, though Lucid seemed to give 'em a bit of a hurt when he torched them all."
