Ian paused and blinked over his shoulder at Prince. "Well ... I'm trying to get down so you can go ahead of me," he replied, puzzled. "Cos if you try pass me up here one or both of us is gonna fall ..."
He peered over the edge of the block he was on. "That's a long way down ..."
Serenity squealed a bit and jerked her ear away from Gaunt's mouth, pressing it against her shoulder. Her heart was pounding in her chest, her eyes wide with surprise.
"That tickled!" she complained, poking him in the side. "Not fair!"

Prince nodded slowly and he pursed his lips, his arms folded over his chest. "Well, if you moved to the edge I an get around on the other side. I got the sword, so I can kill those up close and you can get those far away, kay?" He offered Ian a warm smile. He wasn't trying to be difficult. It just didn't make sense to have the bowman up front. It's like playing the Elf in Gauntlet and having it run ahead of the barbarian and warrior. The Elf was the first to die.
Gaunt just grinned at Serenity's reaction and he shrugs slowly, trying to feign innocence. "Well, if you can tease me, then I can tease you back." He grinned a playful grin at her. "But it's not my fault that I can take a tease better than you can."

Ian looked a little dubious, but he nodded and did his best to move to the side of the block he was on. "This far enough?" he asked, holding the next block up for a bit of additional safety. "Can you get by?"
Serenity stuck her tongue out at Gaunt - rather childish of her, she knew, but he just had that sort of effect on her. "That's not teasing, at least not the same way," she tried to lecture him - but the playful grin on his face just made her want to laugh again, and pounce on him and hug him. Instead, she bit the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling, and did her best to put on a stern face instead.

Prince nodded. The wooden blocks weren't THAT narrow, so getting around Ian wasn't that big of a problem. "Alright!" He proclaimed when finally the order was correct. "On to take down DarkTalon!" He pointed forward courageously and started to 'fight' hsi way down the toy again.
Gaunt arches his eyebrow and got himself closer to Serenity, in more of a... warm way than he did before. For the sake of teasing, of course. "Oh? And here I thought a tease was a tease. For shame, that I can't keep the categories apart." He grinned widely at her.

The moment Prince was past Ian, Ian was back in the game just as if nothing had happened to interrupt it.
"On to glory!" he cheered, readying his 'bow' again and following after Prince. "Watch out, DarkFinger! We's a-coming!"
Serenity suddenly felt very warm all over, and she knew she was blushing furiously. "Um ... well," she murmured, taking a step backwards, eyes lowered self-consciously, "there's ... I guess a few ... different ... kinds of teasing ..."
She had never experienced teasing like this before, though she had heard about it ... and she had never expected to be teased this way. She was glad the boys were there, because she wasn't sure what she might do otherwise, whether she would run away or run into Gaunt's very tempting embrace.

And good thing the boys were so wrapped up in their adventure to realize that there was something fishy going on. After he hopped off the last block, he pointed out toward the distance. "There he is! He's huge! And he's big big, black wings! And his hair is made of.. of.. worms! And.. he sweats mud!"
Gaunt laughs softly as he lets her retreat, though his teasing look remained - his eyes full of mischief. "Oh, I see. I never could tell them apart, so I always just give you my all." If she did come running to him, he didn't think he could tell her no. Because he wanted her to.

Ian was about to follow Prince off the blocks when Prince began to describe the enemy. He grimaced, his tongue sticking slightly out of his mouth. "Gross!" he gagged. "No wonder he's a bad guy!"
But then he was back in character, still shooting his arrows. "Hurry! Let's get to him before he gets away!"
Serenity felt a mixture of emotions when Gaunt didn't come after her. Relief that she could breathe again, that her face was cooling, that her heart wasn't pounding quite so hard anymore ... and disappointment, that he really had just been playing with her after all.
It didn't seem right. They had just started dating, it was still their first semi-date ... how could her emotions have already become so complex? Sure, Seconds were programmed to live life in fast forward, but it still seemed a little extreme to her.
Finally, she smiled at Gaunt. "Believe me," she murmured, still a little confused, "your all is what I want ... I just ..."
Didn't know what was going on exactly, or what she thought about all of it.

"Yeah! That's one of the reasons why we gotta kill him! Because only bad guys would be that gross!" He laughed some as he started to fight across the open field, toward where the 'boss' would be.
And, on the other side of the toy, Gaunt arched his eyebrow and grinned when she said that she wanted his all. Oh, what an opportunity. He made his move, gently forcing her against a middle block on the toy, his body closing the distance between them quickly as he sealed their lips with quite the kiss. It was like.. they were adolescent babysitters, who brought their boyfriend/girlfriend over while the kids were playing/sleeping to make out. So naughty.

Ian giggled and chased after Prince, hands working his bow all the while. He shot past Prince, downing enemies that were trying to come at him from the sides, and every once in a while shot one over his head to get some random enemy further back.
Serenity gasped softly when she felt the blocks behind her back, but when she felt Gaunt's lips and body against hers all doubts faded away, replaced with the certainty that this was indeed what she wanted, and what she wanted very much. She returned the kiss with as much warmth as he gave, and there was also a slight sense of need. Every few seconds the thought would flutter through her mind that she shouldn't be doing this, that Ian was nearby and could see them at any moment ... but the other side of her mind was telling her that it was all right, just a little longer ...
And then she slipped her arms around his neck and held him close, glad suddenly for the protection of the toy at her back. No ... the kids wouldn't see ...

In the middle of the field, Prince stopped. He pointed up and he shouted. "We've come for you, DarkTalon! This is your last day!" He turned around and looked at Ian, not even noticing that Gaunt and Serenity were nowhere in sight. "We need to work together, Ian! Anything less than perfect teamwork and we might not make it out of here alive!"
And so it went. Gaunt and Serenity, make out scene. Leave it in your head, because it's not coming out to see the light of day.

Ian nodded seriously, fully intent on making it through this battle alive. "Tell me what to do, General!" he said, saluting like a soldier. "Your word is my command!"
As a bit of an aside, he added, "Oh, and I got a sword too if you want me to use that instead of my bow and arrow. I'm not allowed to use either yet for real but Mom says soon I can start learning the bow."
Then, back into soldier mode, he saluted once more. "Orders, sir?"

Prince blinked at the aside and he tilts his head a little bit. "Really? I don't think dad would actually let me use a weapon." He shakes his head a little bit, clearing his throat. "Ah! You distract him by firing arrows at him and I'll sneak around and attack him from behind?"

Ian pffted. "Where my grandma comes from, everyone has to know how to use a weapon," he confided in Prince. "If you don't you're good as dead! Well unless someone saves you."
He raised his 'bow' once more. "Yes sir!" he barked. "Onward!" And he charged forward, shooting random arrows in the direction of the 'boss'.

Prince blinked, not really able to comprehend with his young and inexperienced mind what was going on. "R.. really? Wh.. what kind of place do you live? I.. I thought it was safe where you live.." Suddenly he wasn't feeling so sure about visiting Serenity in this other world that they came from.
Regardless, Prince started to circle around once Ian started to shoot his arrows. He stopped at some point, jumped, and did something of an awkward swirling-slash. His footing missed, though, and he tumbled to the ground when he landed. "Ah!"

Ian blinked. "It is safe," he said, confused as to why Prince thought there was danger. "Me and Mom and everyone live in a place that's like this place ... but Grandma wasn't always from there. She came from a different world, just like me and Mom are from here but we live there now. Where she come from 'riginally, that's where it's dangerous, not where we live now."
He gasped when Prince fell to the ground, and forgetting all about the battle he ran over to see if he was all right. "Are you okay?" he cried, kneeling down beside him. "Should I get your dad? Or my mom? Mom knows a lot about if you get hurt and stuff - can you walk? Can you stand up?"
