Pen grinned wide. "Thanks, Shorty. Knew I could count on you." She gave her head a soft rythmic shake, the braids and beads swinging with the movement. "If I wasn't in love with your best friend, and you didn't have an awesome wife, you'd have been a great catch, Eric." She gave him a wink and pushed away from the wall moving back towards Jarred's bunk, a recording device in hand.

Eric leaned against the wall, closing his eyes, obviously at great disquiet with the whole idea.

Hunter moved beside Eric as he spoke in his monotone voice. "You should tell the Captain." He meant Hattie. "Maybe, woman to woman, she could step Pendari." He shrugged beneath his baggy green hoody.
Halise over heard them and shook his head. "Hattie would likely join Miss Pendari! She has a death wish, I think and without Sigil around to reprimand her..." He bit at his lip.

Pen came back from Jarred's room, rolling the recorder in her palm. Her eyes were a bit red, but otherwise there was no sign of what went into her goodbye. She tossed it to Eric. "Done. See to it that he gets that, Eric, please."

Eric took it, holding it for a moment, before slipping into his pocket.
"I want to give you a shot. A small transponder Jarred and I whipped up in case we ever needed a rescue. Don't play hero, Pen. When there's a chance for me to get you out, let me know, and I'll be there in a hellahurry."

Hattie silently slipped a hand onto Pen's shoulder from behind her, her gaze avoiding Eric. "I'm with you one hundred and ten percent, Pen." And though she didn't look at Eric, she spoke to him. "I'll help Pendari as best as I'm able. Then maybe we can fix this virus."

Tsukiyomi Morningstar Hattie silently slipped a hand onto Pen's shoulder from behind her, her gaze avoiding Eric. "I'm with you one hundred and ten percent, Pen." And though she didn't look at Eric, she spoke to him. "I'll help Pendari as best as I'm able. Then maybe we can fix this virus." Eric opened his mouth, but raised an eyebrow looking to Hattie.

Pen glanced to Hattie, "If you're with me, you'll stick with Eric, and keep yourself out of trouble. The point of me getting on that ship is I'll start killing off the majority of them. That would mean you too, if you followed...that is if you were beginning to think it, which you better as hell not." Pen gave Hattie's hand a gentle pat, a sign of a softness behind her sharp, no-nonsense, rebuttal.
She turned to Eric, "Am I going to get shot up now or later? And if there's a clear and safe chance, I'll call you, Eric." She gave a half smile, doubting that chance would come, but making the promise anyway.

Pen glanced at Hattie. "It can't be that bad, Hattie. I'd trade you if I could."

Hattie's eyes softened as she looked at Pen, fighting back tears. "I'll give Jarred your message if Eric wants to go with you." She swallowed hard. "I feel selfish for wanting to go or Eric to stay when it's your life on the line..."

"I built a new ship, seats thre to four, depending on size. Based off of Jarred's Grusdeva, only faster. Faster than the Star's Light, and complete with a miniature Aether Drive. I can get her in, and get her out in a hurry. I'm not gonna stay, just leave you there and get you out."

"I'd end up killing you on the way back, Eric. That's the point. Unless you have some complex containment suit of some kind." She shook her head. "I don't want to die, but I don't think I have much of a choice here."
She glanced at Hattie, "Don't cry, it's fine. All I need is that message to get to Jarred. Whoever takes it, I'll appreciate it deeply."

"I'll take it to him. Don't worry." Hattie held her hand out for the recorder. "I have ingredients to make an antidote, but it might not cure whatcha got." She said softly, rambling in her need to avoid the topic of Eric's death.
