 "'Metallic' water? You mean blood?" Shiki questioned, "Maybe it's...um...A dream of a few plants or something?" He guessed.

"Blood," Sandra repeated, her eyes distant. She vaguely remember thinking that it made been like blood. There had been a fight... and then the plants she was connected to were in some sort of parallel universe. Maybe that had really happened. "Shiki you didn't hear or see a fight while you were out, did you?" she asked.

Shiki flinched again. In the back of his mind he was wondering if she was watching him, "No, I didn't hear anything..." He said and glanced away. One of the many things Sensei told him when he was young; You can't deceive others if you can't deceive yourself...

Sandra frowned at him. "Shiki, you're not a good liar," she said. She wasn't going to ask about this, but now she was a little suspicious of him. "What did you do last night while I was asleep?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

Shiki sighed. Sensei was right. He couldn't convince himself that he really didn't see that, so he couldn't convince someone else. "...Ah...I explained to you before that I kill nonhumans right? Well, that was what I was doing last night," Shiki made his answer as quick as possible, considering he couldn't remember a good part of the fight.

"What kind of non-humans?" Sandra asked him, her voice and face not relying what she was feeling or thinking about what he told her.

"I know for a fact they were not Elves like yourself. They were...demons I guess. You know; horns, fangs, bat wings..." Shiki tried to describe them, "One of them hit me with a club, shortly after that I can't remember much," He admitted.

Sandra didn't respond to what he said. Instead, she just stared out the window, so her back was facing Shiki. She held very still as she thought about everything.

Shiki paused for a moment and then spoke up again, "I'm sorry. Last night, I knew there was something not human in the forest that needed to be killed. So I left and went straight there...I know you must think I'm nuts. Forget about it," He sighed and studied his knife. It was wiped clean. He retracted the blade again and stood up, ignoring the throbbing pain in his back.

"Did anything strange happen while you were fighting them?" Sandra asked after a moment more silence. If what she thought happened actually did, then it would be foolish for her to 'forget about it.'

"Well, I was knocked down, and then everything kinda gets hazy from there..." Shiki admitted, "Um...Other than that I didn't see anything beyond that. The next thing I saw was bloody corpses. Some of the vines were moving unnaturally near the bodies; that's probably the only thing out of place that I saw."

Sandra froze when he mentioned the vines moving. So it was true, what she had been worried about since she had began to think about her dream. She had been using her magic in her sleep and that was very concerning.

Shiki had fallen silent as well. What happened last night? He knew he was going to kill some demons, but there's a huge space of time that he completely missed. And obviously something was concerning Sandra as well. He didn't know what to say.

Sandra unconsciously hugged herself. That scared her. What would happen if she couldn't stop the magic flow while she was asleep? Would she die before she realized what was happening? Would she shut down like she had when she had lost control when she was young? She had no idea what would happen.
