The witch watched Vandle pull Sophitia aside and quickly cleared the doorway to get out of their way. Besides, she had her own stuff to take care of. She found a secluded room toward the back, sat on the floor, making sure her back was to the wall, and pulled a small crystal ball out of one of her many pockets. It grew in her hand until it was palm sized and she could look into it comfortably.

Closing her eyes, she focused on "connecting" to the crystal ball on her boss's desk. No one responded, so she figured he was out of his office. She left a message instead, which would show up as a glowing words next time he checked it. She made sure to be as vague as possible; it was what he expected from her anyway. When she was done, she shrunk the crystal ball again and put it away, letting her head fall back against the wall.

Brodix stepped inside, then turned to the girl that flew in on the staff. "I call myself Broderick Vanguard.... Brodix for short. I'm new to this city. And you are?"

Sally opened her eyes but didn't move her head. "Hey. I'm Sally Hawkins. I'd say welcome to the city, but it's not a very welcoming city overall," she said.

She froze, embarassed. She wasn't really sure why she was so nervous, the boy COULD read minds, after all. She looked down at her hands, not ready to look him in the eyes. "Ok, ok.....I guess I didn't realize it was that obvious." She looked to the side, at nothing in perticular, and fought with a smile at her lips. "I like you a lot. Are you satisfied?"

"So I've noticed." Brodix recalled his earlier encounter with the other vampire, and how it went so unwell. Yet, in spite of that fact, here he was still inside the vamp's house. "So, what's going on here? I'm afraid that I'm in the dark on all of this." All sorts of interesting smells were in this room. Some of which Brodix had never encountered before. Ignoring them for now, his attention remained on Sally.

He smiled. "What I want to hear." He leaned in and kissed, while controlling his hunger for blood. He then pulled away and grinned.

"Basically, the city is split into four sections that house different races. There are rules that govern the borders between the sections and keep the races separate. Basically, we're going to try and take them down and get rid of the sections entirely," Sally replied. "That's the summary as I understand it, but I'm sure Sophitia and Vandle will have more to say once they get done talking."

"So, how do you fit into all of this. I stumbled here on accident, but you came here with an agenda, and it wasn't, at least originally, to break the rules.... So, I guess my real question is.... What do you get out of this?"

Sally shrugged. "I hate the borders, but I'm a police officer so it's part of my job to enforce them, whenever I can't get out of it. This is an opportunity to follow my beliefs without losing my job," she explained.

"A dishonest cop, huh? You never hear of those...." A fake smile come across Brodix's face, then left just as quickly. Holding up his hands, "Just kidding.... I don't mean any offense. It's rather refreshing actually to see that I'm not the only bad apple here...."

Sally raised her head and fixed Brodix with a death-glare. "I am not a dishonest cop," she said, her tone harsh. "The police are meant to protect the innocent and prosecute people for real crimes, not enforce some imaginary line that encourages hatred. Make no mistake, I take my job very very seriously. I'm just taking advantage of an opportunity to do what many of my other fellow officers would love to do."

Brodix's fake smile returned. "Where I come from they call a spade a spade.... No matter how seriously they take themselves. I wonder how many you've arrested and prosecuted before over this very issue, and yet now you'll fight to undo it.... Well, I guess whatever makes you sleep better." Thouroughly amused with this conversation, Brodix decided that he'd probably went too far and left the room they were in for the first one they had entered by the main door. Sitting against a wall, he laid his head back and emptied his mind.

Sophitia's face was bright red, but she didn't hide her smile this time. "Let's...uh....get back to the others...." She took his hand and pulled him into the other room. Although she was beaming from the kiss, she tried to concentrate on the witch and vampire's conversation. Both seemed to be unthralled in their deep conversation.

Sally watched the vampire leave, angry, but doing her best to keep her mouth shut. Obviously, he wanted to form his own opinions, not listen to the truth.

The truth was that she'd only arrested or prosecuted one person for violating border rules and he had been a child killer that they hadn't had any other evidence on. His time in jail for border violations gave them time to find what they needed. Even had Sophitia gone with her, she would have proved to her boss that she wasn't thralled, so there was no need to go to war with the east side, and then conveniently "lost" her.

Regardless, whether it was just her anger coloring her judgment or not, she was going to keep an eye on Brodix.

"Have we come up with a plan or anything at all? To fight we will have to have a plan, and some more people. We are fighting a possible war here." Vandles face was set in stone, something that might frighten Sophitia.
