Elnara smiled warmly and put one hand on Lore's shoulder, looking down at her parents.
"As long as Lore's with me," she murmured happily, "I can get used to anything."
She squeezed his shoulder lightly and smiled warmly at him, then moved to take her seat once more and picked up her fork. She poked at her food a bit, but she still couldn't bring herself to eat any of it.

"Still not quite hungry huh?" Lore watched as she prodded it, resisting the urge to say it was already dead.
He wondered if Elnara would turn out to be one of those people to have cravings, not that it would be a bad thing, not if she actually ate them.

Elnara blushed and smiled up at Lore.
"No," she admitted softly. "As much as I know I should eat ... I don't know, I just ... can't ..."
But she used the side of her fork to cut off a bit of her egg and scooped it up, then held it in front of herself, staring at it and trying to bring herself to put it in her mouth.

Lore felt sorry for Elnara, this wasn't helping and he was sure if she made herself eat she might make herself sick. He reached over and rubbed her back.
"It's okay, I mean.... if you make yourself eat, you might make yourself sick.. maybe something else... less solid?"
He was sure even soup would help... he wondered if he could do that...

Elnara lowered her fork and smiled with relief at Lore.
"Maybe just my cider," she murmured. "I'll be hungry by lunchtime, I'm sure ... I usually am."
At least, that was how it had been going thus far ... but who knew? Maybe things would change. She was grateful for Lore's concern though ... and of course having medical background, he was usually quite helpful.

Serenity smiled at Lore and Elnara.
"Just do what you can," she told Elnara softly, "and follow what your body is telling you. Just ... make sure that you do eat later, you don't want to starve yourself ... and remember that whatever you eat goes first to the baby. You only get the leftovers, so to speak."

Lore chuckled at that, that was one way of putting it.
"Then I'll see what I can do for lunch."
He wasn't the best, but he had begun to watch Elnara over the month of their stay and help as well. Lore had always thought it was good to know just in case, that in case just came sooner than he thought.

After everyone had finished eating, Elnara cleared off the table and put everything away, and then she joined the others in the living room.
"Shall we go for a walk?" she suggested brightly. "It looks like such a beautiful day out there, it would be a shame to waste it indoors."
Not to mention, she really felt as though she needed some fresh air, not only because it was a little stuffy inside - from the heat of cooking as well as the closed windows - but also for the chance to clear her head, really understand the implications of what had happened - what was happening to her.

Lore nodded in agreement, "It sounds like a fine idea."
Besides they often went out for the day anyways, since there wasn't much else for them to do otherwise. Well there was talking and reading... for Lore it was looking at Adonai's library.
"And I'm sure the others would like to know you're back," he turned to Serenity and Beren, "Unless you already went to see them?"

Serenity shook her head. "No, we should actually tell them all that we're back," she admitted.
"Not to mention," Beren added with a raised brow, "we have to bring our things back to the ranch before we really get sick of carrying them around." He turned back to Lore and Elnara. "Would you be terribly offended if we went off without you? I'm sure you wouldn't be interested in watching us unpack all of our things ..."

Elnara smiled back at her parents. "That's all right," she assured them. "Besides ..."
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at Lore. "I think we might need a little time alone to ... really digest this ..."

She did have a good point there. they did need time to take it all in. Especially since neither of them had any idea until Serenity had suggested it.
"It hasn't quite sunk in...." Lore nodded.
He could understand that.

Serenity grinned and rose to her feet.
"Then it's settled," she nodded. "We'll head back home and get settled in again, you two can have the day to yourselves ..."
Her eyes lit up mischievously. "And then you'll come and have dinner with us at Elrohir and Haradhel's house!" She said it decisively, as if they didn't have a choice. "We look forward to seeing you then."
Beren chuckled softly. "Take care of yourselves," he grinned as he and Serenity headed for the door.

Elnara giggled and waved at her parents as they left, then turned to Lore and grinned.
"Well," she laughed, "it looks as though dinner has been decided for us again ... though it will be nice to go there again, we don't go there all that often after all."
She moved to stand closer to him, then reached out and took his hands in her own, lowering her gaze and biting her lip anxiously. "Are we ready for this?" she asked, meaning the child she was now bearing within her. "I mean ... I know we talked about it ... and I know we both want it ... but ... do you really think we're ready?"
She was so young, after all - not even twenty two years old. All of her children so far had been of a hardy sort, strong and innately intelligent ... was she really strong enough to bear her own child, nourish it from birth - from a real birth?

Lore didn't really have to think about it, he knew deep down he didn't feel ready, but he also knew being as old as he was.... he could wait a century and still not be ready. He brought her hands up and kissed him gently.
"Ready as we'll ever be," he told her and added before she could say something about what he said, "Elnara... parents could wait decades... or if time is on their side even longer and still never been fully ready."
He would also add more to himself that women younger than Elnara have given birth, twenty two wasn't really a bad age... it was... sort of an inbetween age really.
"But I think we couldn't have picked a better time, we are here surrounded by people who have already been through the process before, we're close by several healers, have a few months to prepare and take advice and by the time the baby is born we will roughly have half an elven month left to get comfortable looking after the baby. So by the time we leave any questions we might have... most will be answered and ones that have not there are family and friends back home who probably know the answer."
