Professor Inky Ethin walked over and picked up his sword, resheathing it, and kneeled beside Kiae placing an arm around her shoulders. "Kiae, are you okay?" Ethin asked, full of concern. "You have a daughter? I'm sure she is well. It sounded like he was just toying with you." Ethin's words barely reached Kiae as she shook her head in a vain effort to clear it. "How do you know that?" she demanded, her voice shrill with panic. "He knew about her! No one knows about her! What if he did something?" she pleaded, staring at him. She grabbed his arm, as if to make sure he was still there, alive. "He didn't do anything to you, did he? You're not hurt?" she asked anxiously.

Professor Inky "Blood and ashes Melthin! How did you not flaming know Ethin means a lot to me? Are you dim?! He's my bloody Warder. As good as they come. If you want me to break the Bond so much, just be a man and come right out and say it!" Esole shouted at the man. She didn't have time for his foolishness and they both knew the Bond was not working for their own good. She would have to do it. Melthin grumbled audibly, casting away the meek act seeing as how it was not working in his favor. "Because I was a fool that wasn't watching his tongue and just spurting whatever came to my mind! I do not wish it to be broken but if it must then so be it! I'm going to die anyway so why hold onto something so fleeting as hope?!" His face was cold and his eyes seeming to stare straight through her. Why do things never last.

He knew she was frantic with worry for her daughter but he couldn't let it consume her. "Come on, Kiae. Let's get something to drink to calm your nerves," Ethin suggested, hoping for some way of distracting her.

Ethin's own sensibility and worry was reaching her through the Bond, helping somewhat. "You're right, I'm sorry," she said, closing her eyes for a moment to get a hold of herself. Kiae opened her eyes and looked at Ethin, unaware she had a tight grip on his hand.

He realized he was inches away from her face. He had an urge to lean in and kiss her, but he was afraid she would be disgusted with him for trying to take advantage of her after she just had a horrible breakdown.

What is there to hope for? It's not like you love me! You can't let go of you're precious Anya so why should I bother?" Esole said, growing increasingly tired of the man's ridiculous antics. He didn't care about her. He probably just thought of her as a means to further himself. She felt so used.

The emotions she felt through the Bond were confused and mixed-up and she blocked them easily, feeling it was almost like eavesdropping in his mind when he deserved privacy. She reached out and touched the side of his jaw with her fingertips, afraid he would pull away. "Ethin, you are the most important person to me right now. You're the only person I have," she said softly. "Please, tell me what you're thinking," she told him.

"Thats where your wrong. I do love you. Why do you think I've kept the bond and haven't broken it myself?! I was looking for hope, for something to live for again and that is what you became but now all this happened. This fighting and bickering thats doing no good for either of us, only deepening the anger." He pushed his glasses up and rubbed at his eyes, unsure of whether he felt moisture at them, too upset to notice. "If I didn't, would I have had Agni and Rudra following you and guarding you from a distance? Why do you think I made them? I cannot use a blade worth two coppers." He hated to admit it but he was rather rusty in any form of swordplay.

He squeezed her hand gently. "I can't stop thinking about how much I care about you, much more than a simple Warder like myself should. And yet, I don't want to stop. Even if I did, I do not think I could." Ethin placed a finger under her chin, gently pulling it towards him as he kissed her. He pulled away. "Forgive me, Kiae. I've overstepped my place," he said, hoping she would not be angry with him. Hoping she would tell him he was being foolish and that he should not have stopped.

She didn't want to be alone.

Hoping she would tell him he was being foolish and that he should not have stopped. When he kissed her, Kiae's shock lost her control of the Bond, opening it up completely to her mind to feel what the man in front of her was; it was both unexpected and completely new to her. She had thought Cobain's love was the only kind there was, but Ethin's feelings for her baffled her - unselfish, gentle and giving. She remained still, only hearing his words through a fogged mind as she focused on the Bond - the only way to truly judge someone, she had decided a long time ago. The Yellow didn't love the man, but she thought she could learn to if he was willing to be patient; she wasn't sure how to say that, however, so she leaned forward and kissed him gently, briefly, before looking down at the floor. "Please be patient with me, Ethin," she murmured, flushed a bright red from embarrassment. "You haven't done anything wrong, there's nothing for me to forgive." A horrifying thought struck her. "What will Esole do?"

A horrifying thought struck her. "What will Esole do?" "I will be patient. You have all the time in the world. I will be here when you are ready," Ethin said, gently squeezing her hand again. "And she will do nothing. We made it clear years ago that we didn't and won't ever have feelings for each other. She doesn't control me, or you for that matter." He hoped his words were reassuring. He didn't want to upset her. Ethin knew she still had the pain of Cobain's death weighing her down. But he hoped he could help her with it.

Kiae wasn't completely sure of Ethin's assessment of his other Aes Sedai's behavior, considering how protective she was of him, but decided to trust him. She absently fingered a fold of her fabric with her free hand and laughed a bit. "I remember when we first met. I believe you were most disgusted with my behavior," she recalled, shaking her head. The weight of his hand on hers was reassuring, causing some of the tension to leave her body.

Of course she made you out to be a terrible Yellow, which you obviously are not," he informed her with a smile. He remembered when he first saw her, walking down the steps of that inn in Caemlyn to find Esole seething with undue rage at Kiae. How she kept so calm around Esole was beyond him, but he admired her for it.

He remembered when he first saw her, walking down the steps of that inn in Caemlyn to find Esole seething with undue rage at Kiae. How she kept so calm around Esole was beyond him, but he admired her for it. A question burned in Kiae's mind, but she didn't have the courage to ask it. Instead, she smiled, feeling guilty about hiding it. "And I thought all Greens were horrible. I still do, just in different degrees," she had to admit with a reproving shake of her head for herself. The nagging continued in the back of her head and she took a deep breath - if she didn't ask, she wouldn't have any peace. She looked back at him, her fiddling growing. "Ethin...why do you think you love me?" she asked hesitantly. She had heard of cases where newly-Bound Warders felt the emotions of their Sister, whether the woman was lonely or lost or hurting, and fell in love out of pity. Reds called it compulsion-loving in scorn and Kiae almost agreed with them.
