Hmm? Claude raised an eyebrow as Tomoko walked over. In all honesty, the French student had failed to even acknowledge her as he entered - something which he mentally scolded himself for. For someone who relies so much on his finely-tuned senses, to not even notice someone sitting in plain daylight was actually rather embarrassing, but this embarrassment didn't show on his face at all.
Instead, he simply smiled and nodded, pausing for a moment to swallow the chewed food in his mouth. "By all means, go right ahead." He said with a light chuckle after finishing his mouthful. He picked up and opened one of the bottles, taking a quick swig from it, making sure to screw the lid tightly back onto it afterwards. Especially with someone else sitting with him, he had to make sure not to give any chances for anyone to slip something into it without him noticing.

He seemed polite enough and her lips curved a bit into a small smile, returning the one he had given her. "Thank you~" She sits in the seat across from him, seeming at least somewhat enthused to have someone to talk to at the moment, especially someone who just smelt like mystery. She seemed to watch every single one of his movements, even with slow eye movement she carefully watched him screw the lid back onto the drink. As soon as he was finished her eyes raised back up to meet his.
"I'm Tomoko Okasawa." She introduces herself, bowing her head only slightly. It was always polite to introduce yourself before expecting the other person to give his or her name. Her glass of chocolate milk was set in front of her. Unlike his drink, someone could easily slip in poison or a drug. She didn't ask him to give his name, but waited patiently for some sort of response. Tomoko was never in a hurry, even when she was late and she took her time doing everything.

Claude nods and smiles as Tomoko introduces herself, and reaches back into the opened packet of crisps, before stopping short. "Ah, right. Almost forgot to introduce myself." Claude nods, chuckling slightly as he bows his own head slightly. "Claude Espion. A pleasure to meet you, Tomoko-san." He resumed his eating after introducing himself, still rather hungry. '...What does this count as anyway? Brunch?' He cast his eyes downwards towards his watch for a brief moment. It was even later than he thought. ' Can't believe I only just got up... Meh. I guess I'll just have to settle for skipping breakfast and brunch and call this lunch.' Not that he really cared about eating more. He'd probably be full by the time he's finished anyway.

Tomoko tilts her head a bit when he introduces himself, her eyes never leaving his. It was as if she was trying to look into his soul, trying to figure out every single secret about it. Though her stare was gentle and nowhere near intimidating. She detected the french accent and her eyes lit up once more. Interesting~. Setting her head upright she bows it once again, "Likewise Claude-san~" She looks back up and stares at what his breakfast consisted of. Good, but good for a snack. It was none of her business though what he ate. Tomoko always tried to respect other people's wants and needs. Her eyes slowly move with his eyes, looking at the watch. "Need to be somewhere...?" She asked, a little more timidly. If she was being a bother, she would gladly leave him alone. However if she wasn't she hoped to sit and chat some more to get to know him. "I prefer a pocket watch." She remarked, holding up her wrists to show that she had no watch on. In fact, she had no pockets.

Claude shook his head and chuckled. He hadn't expected her to notice him checking his watch like that. "Ah, non non, it is nothing like that." He rubbed the back of his head in a slightly embarrassed manner, figuring that he might as well tell her the truth. He had no reason to lie, after all. "I didn't really get a very good night's sleep last night... I only woke up about ten, maybe fifteen minutes ago." He said with a slight chuckle. Sure, he didn't tell her the whole truth; but he told her all that she really needed to know. Which was, as far as he was concerned, truth enough.

Tomoko was a trusting person, even if she had the slightest inkling that someone was lying. However, Claude gave her no reason to think that he was lying and even if he had, it was a silly thing to think about too much. "Aw, that's not good~" She said softly with concern, feeling bad that he hadn't gotten a good night's sleep. She tilts her head at him, still looking in to his eyes. "You should take a 20 minute nap, you'll feel refreshed." Her head goes back to its normal position and she smiles at him, growing found of the mysterious boy with an accent...who just happened to be cute. Not that Tomoko was a normal boy crazy type of girl...more like mystery crazy. "So, what brings you to Mahora~?" She asks, leaning in a bit closer and putting her elbows on the table. It almost seemed like an attempt at trying to seduce him, her little black dress emphasizing her decent sized chest. This however was Tomoko, and it was an innocent gesture, her expression showing only a genuine interest and curiousity.

Claude chuckled at her question as he crunched up the now-empty first packet in one hand, finding her question just a little strange. After all, why else does one go to a school? "Ah, I am simply here to learn." He chuckles a little as he opens the second packet. "I 'ad a penpal who recommended the school to me. Let's just say that for my family, money is not really an issue." Talk about a tissue of lies. There wasn't one single statement in those past few sentences that was entirely true. But, he had the lovely bonus factor that nobody could prove otherwise, so he could afford to lie through his teeth.

Tomoko seemed to believe him, but she still seemed to be questioning him innocently. "Well...most people do go to school to learn." She giggles lightly and tuckers some of her stray bangs behind her ear. "So, does your penpal go here?" Tomoko asked, wondering who out of the students it could be. Maybe it was someone she knew, that would be interesting. Afterall, if the penpal reccommended the school, surely they went to school here? Then again, it may just be someone who had heard good things about the school. There were always many possibilites, and whichever lie Claude decided to feed her, she was sure to accept.

Claude shook his head as he continued to weave his web of lies. "Non, 'e used to, but 'e 'as since left. I lost contact with him fairly recently... Maybe 'e did not get my last letter." Nice work there. Hopefully by claiming he'd lost contact with his imaginary penpal, he'd avoid having to answer any more awkward questions. Lies were fine as long as you could remember them - if he slipped up and contradicted himself later, he knew that she'd notice. It was practically human nature to jump on such things, it seemed. "Ah well. I'm sure 'e is fine."

Claude gave her the excuse that he used to attend Mahora, but then left. Apparently Claude had also lost contact with his friend. Shame. "Oh, that's a shame. You're probably right, he didn't get your letter...does he know that you're going here now? Maybe there's a letter at home waiting for you." Her expression brightened, hoping that she had somehow given this poor french fellow a ray of hope that his penpal had just delivered his letter to the wrong mailing address. Even sillier though was that someone in his day and age had a penpal. Tomoko was more accustomed to e-mail, not snail mail.
Taking a small sip of milk, she sets her glass back down and she thinks for a moment, finally breaking the eye contact with Claude. Her eyes stared at the edge of the table, nothing in particular. "Where are you from Claude-san...?" It was a stupid question and she could make an extremely educated guess. "France...?" She titled her head the other way and once again gave him the same devoted eye contact.

Claude was now actually getting a little bit suspicious of this girl. All these questions, particularly relating to him, were beginning to sound less and less like phatic talk and more like a thinly-disguised interrogation... or maybe he was just being paranoid. He put on a clearly fake expression of shock. "Oh non! My secret is discovered!" He chuckled as he shook his head and smiled. "Oui, oui, I am from France. But enough about me; tell me about yourself... Tomoko, wasn't it?" It wasn't that he didn't want to tell- well, actually, yes, it was. He didn't really like telling too much about himself to people he barely knew; and besides, it was rude to talk about oneself for too long.

Tomoko blinked and her eyes widened when he pretended be shocked, for a second sincerely thinking that he had divulged in her some great secret. Though other than her eyes, her face remained blank. His expression was obviously fake and she smiled at him. Yes, she was obviously right and he was from France. It appeared that he wanted to stop talking about himself as he had asked more about her. "Yes, it's Tomoko." She nods her head slowly and looks up at him. Still cute and maybe it was better that he didnt' say anything about himself, it gave him more of a mysterious appeal. "What would you like to know?" She said with a clear, soft voice. Tomoko would've rather kept talking about him than herself. It wasnt' that she had some deep dark secret or anything, but he seemed much more interesting than herself.

Claude simply shrugged as he finished off the second packet and began work on the third. "Anything, really. Just generally about yourself." It was always harder to get someone to try to talk about themselves without any real reason to ask anything, so he had to think on his feet here. Fortunately for Claude, his feet seemed to be doing quite a good job of thinking today. "Tell me about where you come from." Sure, it was the oldest prompt in the book; but it would work. Hopefully.

His question was fairly vague and generic and Tomoko had to think about how to answer it. "Well...I'm from Japan." She said simply, not finding any real philosphical gain from such a question. She wished that she had a much more interesting answer, something he could find interest in. No, just boring old Japan.
Tomoko decided to go ahead and give him some general information about himself, so maybe if he was still interested in talking, he would have an easier time asking question. "Before I came here, I lived with my dad, stepmom, and my two siblings." When she mentioned her stepmom, there was a slight discomforted look on her face. Her stepmother wasn't exactly her favorite person in the world and the feelings were returned tenfold. "My father is a therapist and he mostly deals with hypno-therapy." She sighs and looks to the side, glancing over at Yuuji for a second, her attention seeming like it was lost. That wasn't the case though and she slowly turned her head back. "The mind is quite fascinating, it's almost a shame to make a science out of it." She smiles and leans forward again. "But I suppose if it wasn't a science, no one would take it seriously." She says as she thinks about it carefully. It was easier to talk about the explain than the unexplained.

Claude nodded with interest as he listened to Tomoko explain about her father and her own interest in the mind. He chuckles as she says about not liking it being a science. "I wouldn't let it trouble you too much." He says as he crunches up the final empty packet. "After all, some universities consider Video Game Design to be a science. I think people just want to get their subject called a science to add some extra prestige to it or something." Taking another swig from his drink, he made sure to fasten the lid once again, just in case.
By this point, he'd pretty much gotten over his suspicions for Tomoko; but even so, he was a paranoid person anyway, so he couldn't take any chances. "So, I take it by the way you speak of it that you have some interest in hypnosis and the like yourself?" In all honesty, hypnosis wasn't really something Claude ever had to think about. Things like ghosts and whatnot we all draw our own conclusions to, but he'd never quite had a chance to think of hypnosis.
