The ice shards came at Flint at a blinding speed. He did his best to dodge most of them by jumping to the side, but it seemed the water user had taken this into account as two of the shards met their mark in his right leg. He fell to one knee on the wet stone. But to his surprise, he was not weakening from the bleeding. In fact he felt somehow rejuvenated, as if his strength was increasing. I will have to thank Aria for her aid later. Flint took the shards of ice out of his leg, casting them aside. He placed the flat end of his blade across the wounds, singing them shut with the sword's immense heat. Arising from the ground, he got back onto both feet. "I swore an oath to protect milady, and I will give everything that I have to see that that oath stands strong."
Flint reached a hand into his pocket and took out five small red balls. They were made of the same material as his blade. He gripped them in his right hand, heating them with his palm until they glowed a bright red to match his sword. But he continued to keep them there in his hand as they reached immeasurable temperatures. Taking a slow breath, he prepared for his attack. I have to make this count. He ran at the man, letting loose the metal balls that now burned with an emanating white flame, aimed for his chest.

Wave after wave, she continued to blow more enchantments onto Flint. Agility, power, magic attack, blessings, weapon up and heals until she was starting to feel depleted. Pausing, she lowered herself slightly to allow herself the chance to rejuvinate. Her charms would last for a while, but they too, would wear out eventually. Hopefully, by then, Flint could've staved off the water offender by the gates. She watched as Flint flew at his attacker with five glowing red balls in the palms of his hands. Even while they had not been aimed at her, Aria couldn't help but shiver slightly at the sheer power and determination he had gathered for the attack. Spinning around, she turned to run back inside and alert the guards. "Strengthen guard around Queen Laticia's chambers! The dark lord's assasin has already arrived! You lot, be on standby for Flint, but don't interfere until he gives the signal to!"
Feeling herself teetering, Aria pulled a vial out of a small pouch and took down the concoction contained inside. Besides healing and supporting, Aria could also make potions and other brews to assist various things depending on their needs. Although she could fight too with an abundance of powerful spells, she often found it better to help those trained specifically for the purpose instead.

Raphael hopped backwards warily, the first of the balls falling short of him and landing in the shallow fountain, loosing a cloud of steam into the air. The second smacked into his chest and he tore at his shirt to get the molten metal off before it burned his skin, his Guardsmen's jacket fell uselessly to the water, a hole burned into its chest. The third hit harder, scorching his skin beneath his shirt and he growled, grasping it firmly in his hand to tear away.
He howled in pain, his fingers burning harshly as he threw the third projectile into the water. He huffed and looking at his angry red fingers, his prints were burned away on three of the fingers and his palm was near bloody from the heat. "Ugh." he grumbled.
The Water Guard was pissed now, "You've sworn an oath that will be broken this night." he hissed, twirling the scythe in his left hand hard, the shaft and blade becoming too fast to be visible, he twirled it over his head and leaped forward, his feet touching the cement only twice before he held his scythe at the other mans throat, stopped with perfect control mere centimeters from his jugular.

Xavier started to hobble after her, trying to keep by Keyla's side. As they walked along, he couldnt help but look around at the trees and the dim light which shone through the entangled tree limbs high above. As he did, it brought a smile to his face, it was almost a tranquil feeling, as if everything was ok. He listened to the sound of the wind gently blowing through the leaves and the occasional sound of the local wildlife. "Its so beautiful here, quiet as well. Almost makes you forget that there's a war raging on outside these woods. I wish it would stay this way.." Xavier trailed off as he looked over at her. The first companion in arms you've had in years, first real friend as well he thought to himself. "Is there something in this war in which you fight for? Something apart from your kingdom. Each person has their own personal reason which drives them to fight. That one reason that they are willing to die for. What is yours?"

Seilynn waited patiently for a reply from Crystal, or maybe she didn't want to give one. Seilynn would accept that. However, as she got a reply she smiled, "Traveling huh? Yeah, I have to say it's one of my favorite things as well." She sighed a little. "Though with the war going on it has become so much more difficult to travel." At the thought of the war, Seilynn saddened in her tone and fell silent. She found it so useless what all the nations had to go through. What reason could there ever be to start a war and destroy hundreds of thousands of lives. She shook her head and looked forward. Soon, a small town seemed to come into view, and in distance. She knew that a few days beyond that town, they would reach the border to the next kingdom. (How are the kingdoms placed, if you would look at them on a map? xD)
The silence around them as they walked, made Keyla feel oddly calm. Or maybe the calm just felt odd because it was after such battle as the one she and the others just had lived through. Xavier's voice made her head turn towards him and she tucked a blue strand of hair behind her ear. "A reason?" she repeated and looked forward again. "Revenge." She said with determination in her voice and a small nod, agreeing to her own words. She glanced at Xavier, "I guess that's not all though.. at first it was. I was just so angry when it all started.. but soon I started wanting to protect and help the only thing I have left." She said that with a thoughtful but honest tone, followed by a small child. She then looked around and chuckled as if to wave the honesty in what she had just said, away. "Or something like that..." She added and looked forward. They soon entered the camp and Keyla wondered what the others were up to.

Damien's words and calm demeanor had finally truly calmed Ryal's embarassment. So, which part of the Knorth are you from? I've lived there all my life, and traveled the Kingdom, but I don't remember seeing any paladins. Though I did stay mostly in the arenas. Archery tournaments were my first love, and I won many, although that's changed now.

Crystal heard the change in Seilynn's tone and looked to the woman with a concerned frown over her face. She squeezed her new friend's hand, hoping to comfort her from whatever it was that had bothered her. To Crystal, this war was nothing but a story. She hadn't seen any of the troubles that it had caused. All she had ever truly known had been the poverty of her small town. Now she was finally away from all of that, and though in truth she was no better off, she actually found herself feeling happy inspite of her sad fate.
"Don't worry, Seilynn, I'll watch out for you. No one will hurt us." For the first time in her life Crystal actually felt protective. She couldn't explain it, but she had been gifted with a strong gift in her element. Never before had she concidered using her abilities, for they had never seemed necessary, but now she felt it was only right to offer her abilities to her new friend, if only to comfort her slightly.

Damien frowned slightly at his words, wanting to question what had changed. However, for the moment, he decided to push those thoughts away to answer Ryal's question. "I live in our kingdom's capital. Within that city the high council of the Order of Paladins resides. I am surprised to hear you have never seen any of my fellows." He laughed softly, truly stunned. Most people in the Knorth Kingomd had, at the very least, heard rumours of the fabled Paladins. They were a thing of legends, brought back by those who believed their ways to be true and pure.
After a few moments of silence, Damien recalled his original query and turned his gaze onto Ryal with a rather serious look gripping hsi features. "So, what has changed so much that either you no longer love or no longer enter archery tournaments? It seems that though this war would have an effect, that doesn't appear to be the cause of this odd change?" His tone was kind and truly concerned, as if he were talking to an old friend and not a man he had only just met.

Ryal smiled at the question, thinking of the one that replaced his first love. In truth, I love the sport no less than before. It's place at the peak of my interests was, however, taken from it by a force none can reckon with. I fell in love. As he thought about his Ariella, he suddenly felt a sense of longing, he missed her touch, the sound of her voice, her laugh. He wanted nothing more than to be at her side. He let out a small sigh. One day all of this will be over, and we'll be able to spend the rest of our days. He smiled broadly at damien. here I am, pouring out my troubles on you! Forgive me, I suppose I got carried away in my own pity. What of you? Is there anyone in your life to return to when this mess is finished?

Damien watched Ryal with a kind, understanding gaze as the man spoke of love. There was a silent longing in his gaze, however, as Ryal spoke. He had never felt that way, not once in his life. It wasn't for a lack of women, for they came in plenty to him. It was simply that he had never found that one woman in his life that he knew he could not live without. Instead he thought perhaps his love lay in helping others. Perhaps he was not meant to love as others did. A soft sigh escaped his lips as his thoughts ran away with him, at least until he heard Ryal question him.
Looking up with his deep, oceanic gaze, Damien offered a slightly mocking laugh. "I'm afraid I have never been afforded the pleasure you have been blessed with. For me, the only thing I have to return to is the life I already lead. Not much has changed for me, since the start of this war. The only difference is that, in this particular quest, it is a greater evil I must face."

Xavier was in close beside her, attempting not to get close to people that were bustling about the camp. Keyla's words echoed in his head as he looked over at while also focusing on dodging the soldiers. "A fight fueled by revenge is not one that will end well. On the other hand when a fight is motivated by the want to protect the things which you hold close to your heart, then its a fight worth winning." Xavier started laugh a little after he said that "Then again I could just be ranting on." Those words reminded him of his injuries, though minor they were still something that could cause problems down the line if left untreated. He decided to hold off seeing the camp medic until he parted ways with Keyla. "So what are you going to do now?"

Ryal frowned at the answer Damien had given. He couldn't help the near pity he felt for him, though it made him feel like he was acting a bit condescending. He hesitated, not sure what to say. I'm truly sorry... I don't know how I would get through a single day without the thought of the one I love, much less this war. Perhaps some day, you'll find her. Ryal suddenly realized how still it had become. Well, I suppose I should be getting off, I've kept you up long enough! I must find Evan and get some rest. Tomorow's bound to be quite a day... Good night, Damien! It's been good to meet another from home! With that, Ryal waved as he took his leave for the night.

Flint stood very still, his mouth slightly open as he was taken by surprise. Such speed, even with such a large weapon. He could've killed me at any time. He was just toying with me. I am no match for this man. But I can't just let him take the queen. The red sword made a clanking sound as it dropped to the stone at his feet. "I know when I have been bested..." Flint placed his palms together behind his back. "Do with me what you will." He hoped he would not be dispatched quickly. His palms secretly waited, glowing white. He awaited the man's response in hopes that he would absentmindedly forget that his sword was not his main weapon. He waited for the man to be off guard so that he could touch the man's scythe. Flint tried to stay calm while he pretended to surrender. It was not like himself to resort to such un-honorable methods, but he swore an oath to the queen.

Damien gave a half-hearted smile, one side of his lips lifting with the small gesture. His eyes had grown slightly distant with the thoughts of what it must have felt like. He felt sad, having never experienced love, and yet he did not resent his life. He was happy in all he did, dedicating his life to the protection and salvation of others.
His gaze lifted to Ryal once more as the man spoke of leaving. "It was a pleasure to meet you. Perhaps we might stick together on the morrow, when the camp breaks from this hiding place in the trees." His grin grew a little, cheerful at the idea of once more being on the road and towards the greater goal of ending this war. With a final lifting of his hand, his gesture of fair well. He then turned about, looking to his great stallion. He gave the beast a pat and then crawled back into his tent, lying on the roll and laying his dagger beside him.
