Well, s**t. "Frenzy?" Cody muttered, leaning forward and frowning at Vain, elbows on knees and fingers interlocked. Judging by his general lack of freak-out to the giant canines, it seemed Cody's issue with the vampire he'd so wished to fry had been personal rather than some sort of racial grudge. "You might wanna stay outta town for a bit," he said, after a moment of glaring contemplation, "Figure something out I guess," he continued at a mumble.

It was somewhat embarassing that Skittles calling pink effeminate was such a relief to him. Perhaps over-exposure to Leif... oh dear. That wasn't an entirely kind thought - and Leif was perfectly sweet, only... perfectly sweet. And not in the way Tsuzuki was either - it didn't feel forced necessarily, simply... too much, at times.

"Black," he murmured, picking up one of Adrian's t-shirts with witty little sayings in white and holding it up in front of Skittles, "Dear me, it seems your professional designer was under the impression you were either... obese or with child. Perhaps another?"

SKittles giggled, reaching out to finger the fabric lightly. "With child? Men can not have babies; the fabric is nice but how about something smaller?" He peered at the pile of clothing. "Is that a button up shirt?" He questioned tilting his head. "And that fabric below it, what is it? The texture appears to be sturdy." He pointed at the jeans.

"I don't care to stay in the the woods anymore, much less disappear from this town." Skittles, he did not deserve to be moved willy nilly again. "My figuring tends to lean towards strategic of battles. Offence, defense, my clan is a remnants of the army during the clan wars." He shook his head.” A failing of my own but it has served me well for the years."

"What else besides leaving?"

Alex nodded in agreement, rather forlornly, "He was quite confused, it appears," the attempt at explanation was soft and apologetic. "And that," he said, voice rising to lighter, more energized tones, indicating the jeans, "Is denim. It is quite comfortable."

Involuntarily, Cody made a face - it was his most base, common reaction to someone not being on the same brainwave, which was, actually, quite a difficult task for anyone at all. "We're pretty far removed from the immediate town area out here, I was offering you an extended visit," he rolled his eyes with an uncomfortable shrug, "And... look, you're vamps now - that's gonna bring a little bit of the Beast within to life, all right? What I figure..." he broke off, realizing that what he figured might not apply to vampires from another world... damn. "I dunno."

Vain blinked and then smiled slightly. "Ah, I did not mean to brush such a offer aside. If it is still offered I would like to take it. I, I was not expecting such a thing." No one had ever offered that before, he was rathered touched. Skittles would be safe for a while and perhaps make some friends.

He tilted his head, beast within? Hmm he knew that was true with lycanthropes. "Please go on Cody. I am interested in what you know about the vampires here and how they compare to my own.”

“Denim?” Skittles moved towards the clothing and let his fingers trail across the fabric. “It looks quite comfortable. How about these and my Obi belt?” He lifted the black jeans and button down shirt. The crimson would bring a splash of color to the outfit besides his multi color mop.

“Oh my, what is this?” He had just noticed the zipper dropping the shirt as he touched the metal. His fingers began to move it back and forth, eyes steady getting wider, “Alex, wouldn’t this hurt?” Skittles tended to go commando, no underwear what so ever. Taking the lack of protection, ouch if the zipper caught something delicate.

In response to the acceptance and thanks, Cody merely shrugged again. Anyone else he might lord it over - well, not anyone else, but lots of people. Today had just been... you know... difficult.

He chewed on his tongue for a moment before speaking again, tapping his fingers against the backs of his hands. "The whole thing with vampires... where we came from, at least - was the hunger, the rage. Something living inside of you - the Beast. You had to satisfy it with blood, violence, release - if you didn't... well, you were ********. Fell into the Frenzy," he grimaced. The one thing he'd hated the most, feared and loathed. "You lose control, subject to the most primal, brutal instincts - kill, destroy --you're not even thinking about feeding anymore, it's just the rage."

Nodding in affirmation, Alex went about scooping up Leif's clothes and tossing them to the far side of the bed. He'd fold them later. "Just black's a little boring, yes--what was that?" he glanced up to see Skittles' discovery of the zipper. Next best thing to velcro.

....Maybe velcro would be safer, given the wide-eyed stare on the fox's face. He couldn't help but laugh, "I imagine it would," he agreed, "Quite a bit - maybe we'll settle for something a little less dangerous," the laughter carried through his voice, like winged syllables. "Perhaps not quite as stylish..." he admitted, holding up a pair of drawstring sweat pants - God knew where he'd gotten those from.

"Berserk is the word we use for those that fall into such ways. They seem peaceful but like the ocean could turn brutal and kill with out warning. They did not have control over their primal instincts..." Vain closed his eyes. "Certain action can lead to lost of control among us. Skittles was just playing when he fell into a hunting pattern and lost it."

"We, vampires where created from a virus transferred though saliva and using blood as a catalyst for it awakening. I do not know the origin of the virus; I was not old enough to be privileged such information.” Vain voice dripped to bitterness. “The rumor is that is came from the east carried by a necromancer. That is how our line was started at least.”

Skittles made a little face but took the pants exchanging them. “They’re baggy,” he muttered but dropped the towel from his body, squirming into the pants. They where large on him and he had to pull the drawstring tight for them not to fall down his hips.

He regretfully place back the button down shirt, choosing instead one of the plain t-shirts. He couldn’t wear his Obi with this ensemble but perhaps he could place his fans in the back of the pants. “How can you wear those pants?” He finally asked. Their had to be some secret to it.

Another uncomfortable shift of the shoulders, preceded by a huff of breath, "It coulda happened to anyone, the Frenzy - for us," Cody muttered. Even him. God, even him. Even Alex. "Part of the whole..." he trailed off, nodding along to Vain's explanation. A necromancer's experiment? That certainly put a new twist on it - way different from the way things had turned out with the whole Gehenna bit, "No one really... knew back home," he shrugged, "Just... it was a curse. Nobody really argued that one."

The Blight of God, Cain's Burden. The precedent to the end of the world, Apocalypse, Gehenna. Thousands and thousands of years, thirteen generations of the strong blooded and two more of the thin - ending in the end. Only after the end of the world, there'd still been some left standing. Enh.

Alex took the jeans sympathetically, folding them and placing them aside in a different pile from the other rejected outfits, "There's plenty of places all around to find clothes more to your tastes," he assured.

Then, contemplating the sheer... oddity and uniqueness of Skittles question, decided, "Practice, I suppose."

It didn't really occur to him that Skittles lacked underwear. An adventure for another day.

"It became less of a curse and more of a blessing among us. The added strength and abilities counteracted the thirst and there were people willing to offer themselves. Our clan was more of a family offering protection,” Vain smiled slightly at the memories of his own family. “The city clans where different, thinking themselves higher then the mortals they sprang from and took what they please as rights of conquest."

A collect den of sin and vice, that toyed with god’s creations. Perhaps that had truly started the drought that was steadily getting worse. He had not spoke earlier but the city reservoirs where failing before they had perished. Two oasises had run dry and a clan had suffered casualty from stretching their supplies to travel onwards. It was ill begot knowledge from ease dropping the lord’s tent.

“Our world was beginning to die…I guess it was best we end here.”

Hands fluffed up his hair to keep the strands from knotting in painful tangles as he thought about Alex’s words. Practice? Ouch, he had a sinking suspicion he was missing some other part of the wardrobe around here. “We will go shopping?” He questioned looking back at Alex.

Vain- well his companion hated shopping. It the demon had his way everything would be made by his own two hands. That was fine with carving furnishings and all but Skittles preferred refined fabrics to leather. “Please? Vain is more likely to threaten store clerks then to help.”

"Hm," Cody muttered, sinking lower into the couch, "Might've been a bit different... for us." Grinding teeth for a bit, his mouth twisted in some sort of disgust and he shook his head, "Vampirism wasn't... humanity. You lost something. ...Life, I guess. No more progress, no change - death. Everything about mortality was a memory, something you could cling to, sure - but not your nature, not what you were. Those city clans you're not so keen on? That was the generally accepted norm back home."

Well... kind of. There were... stories, ways, traditions - not Traditions, totally different. Cody'd only had the luck of being exposed to them due to his rare heritage, however. "The end of the world's no biggie," he muttered sarcastically. "I mean, hey - we survived. Well, a couple of us. More than none. Er..." He frowned, tugging at a stray curl. End here? Odd coincidence. Man, he'd like a chance to interrogate blondie.

The bird sat on the bed with a bounce, looking contemplatively but cheerfully in the up direction, towards the ceiling, admittedly, but up. "I like shopping," he declared with a definite if delicate nod, "And I don't threaten anyone with bodily harm, not even door to door salesmen," he added with a touch of mock pride.

Drawing more discarded clothes closer, Alex began the careful, precise process of folding them.

"Frozen forever to watch the ones you care about die unless you thought the end for yourself. Some did in grief pulling rash raids and stunts, a near guarantee death, against the city clans.” Vain closed his eyes. “We still carry the thirst here but- I can now eat solid food. Something happened during the pull from limbo.”

“The end of one brings new beginnings to a other. I’ll miss our world but dwell on it no.” Skittles would not be privileged to the information; Vain had a sinking feel the fox would start a bonfire in elation or grieve. Maybe both, he could never tell with Skittles.

He followed with an excited cry onto the bed, bouncing slightly on the bed, mimicking Alex by looking up curious what was on the ceiling. His ears twitched at the declare, eyes plus delicate face turned befuddled at the mentioning of door-to-door salesmen. "Door salesmen?" he queried stretching out fully on the bed.

Watching momentary the precise motions, Skittles decided to mimic the bird again. Selecting a t-shirt he began to try folding it, reminded in a way of classes of origami. Hmm, did fabric fold the same way into a little crane? Lets find out.

See... that wasn't necessarily it - the whole watching the ones you loved die... thing... Because... what you really lost upon becoming a vampire was yourself. Everything felt after was an echo, not a genuine emotion, but what you remembered that emotion had been like when you were alive. That was probably why the elders were so jaded - senility. Cody choked on a snort of laughter and shrugged again, "Hey - our world didn't really end - " he broke off, waving a finger in the air as if admonishing Vain but really more scolding himself, "Not that... heh... there was anything to go back to for the vamps."

Well, there had been things to go back to - except those things had come over to this world, and Cody had dutifully followed. Dutifully? Naw, more like desperately.

Nodding in an affected, mentor-like way, Alex's voice was caught up in lecture, "Yes, salesmen. They walk from home to home, no matter how far apart homes may be - selling things that no one actually wants for prices that no one would ever pay at the times when one really doesn't want to go to a door--oh dear, Skittles, this isn't Japan," he winced and smiled simultaneously, a lopsided grin, at the attempted intricacy of clothing in the fox's hands. Then, teasing, "Keep It Simple, Stupid~"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:12 pm

The demon shrugged his shoulder. “Perhaps,” he affirmed. It wasn’t ended yet, and what would he go back to? More war, power struggles, and an oncoming famine.

Vain stood up. “I’m going out for a while,” hunting he added silently. He could fell the hunger gnawing inside him. He had to replenish what he had given to Skittles and starve of the thirst first. They could always continue this debate latter, he was sure Cody would be interested. “I apologize before hand if Skittles does anything,” he paused, “strange,” he finished.

Head tilted at the lopsided messy half of crane in his hands, the fox lips pressed together with pitifully. “The t shirt doesn’t fold the same way as paper. “ His little ears fell slightly, and he tried to unwrinkle the fabric by flapping it out. “Out wrinkles, out! Evil little demon be gone and all that..” He said small face serious.

While he... really didn't mind the idea of Vain getting out of his life for a couple hours - he was pretty sure they'd just had a conversation about how the demon and his puppy--er... 'Skittles'? - really ought to stay away from--"Walk in the park?" he asked, eyebrow raised, "Or we thinking the local lover's walk? You headed out for munchies, V?"

Besides - 'Strange'? Nooo, that explanation simply wasn't good enough.

"I think you're right about that," Alex agreed, sympathetically reaching over to help, than drawing back suddenly at the flapping, "Out, out damn spot?" he quoted helpfully. "Are there wicked creatures who wrinkle clothes where you come from?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 03, 2006 8:37 pm

The demon eyes flattened. "Does it matter?" He questioned, body snapping into a defensive stance. His umm feeding habits where non of Cody concern. Sure he was thankful that the other was allowing them shelter but prying in delicate affairs where over the line.

The flapping stop as Skittles peered at the fabric as if he had just seen it. "Creature? No..." he trailed off blinking his red eyes seeming to forget what he had just said. The small hands thrust the fabric at Alex. "Help, please?"

The 'unicorn's' eyes widened slightly, though not in fear - and he stared at Vain with the 'Are you kidding me?' sort of look. "Uh... yeah, kinda," Cody rolled his eyes, "Look, V - I don't want this place becoming 'Oh hey, the bloodsucker lives there!' central, all right? You want blood, you visit the butcher." Because he didn't know, as yet, whether the kill was necessary in the hunt for these types - and even if it wasn't necessary, Vain and Skittles came from a harsh, harsh world, where the rules on life, death and justice were just a little strained.

Besides, old habits die hard.

"If you insist, good sir," Alex held out a fine-boned hand for the fabric and spread it out on the bed between them, "Mirror me?" he instructed, taking one side of the - shirt, it appeared - and folding it in a third of the way.
