She looked back to the fairy, and then paused, her shoulders slumping as it disappeared. "Oh..." She looked to the place that the fairy was, and then up to the man again, her brown eyes no longer sparkling, but sad and lonely looking. She stood up and brushed off her dress, turning and pouting in the opposite direction. It wasn't very nice of the fairy to leave, just because she didn't 'believe'. She had never seen a fairy before, how could she believe in them right away? Her fists clenched angrily at her sides, and she looked roughly at the ground.

WILHELM

"Do not get upset little one. She will return. Fairies can only stay visible in our realm for short periods of time." I coo to her lightly. "As your belief gets stronger, she will be able to show herself more often." Rising from my place on the rocks, I leap down from the pile of rubble to land with agile grace on the ground, my dark silk cloak billowing momentarily behind me. "You would like to see her again wouldn't you? Like to know her secret?" From my pockets I pull out three beautiful crystal orbs. In the dark night atmosphere they glow with a soft luminescence, each a different color. I spin the three of them in my palm as I wait for her response.

___________ Do I know you?

Jack, having woken from his peaceful slumber from a frightful nightmare, was not aware of the time. There were no windows, nor a clock in the small room in which he resided. Feeling the scruffiness of his chin was the only indicator that approximately 15 hours had passed since he last shaved. It was night.

The room was actually a closet, all the boxes and other regular residents pushed against one side. A few blankets and a pillow were laid upon the floor like a bird’s nest, and his clothes and other possessions were hung or sat neatly on a shelf. The whole situation made Jack wonder if this was a step down or a step up from his previous life.

Standing up and rubbing his head where he had accidentally bumped it into a corner the night before, his fingers became tangled in his unbrushed mess of auburn hair. Shaking the sleep from his body and a bit irritable for the moment, he dressed and combed his hair as best he could. Jack folded the blankets and neatly put them in a corner.

He exited the closet, heading straight for the nearest restroom to shave and relieve himself. It was Jack Finley’s usual morning routine. At this point, he would head for the body of The Muse and possibly catch a bite to eat, continuing his repetitive search for anyone who recognized him.

Strolling in a casual, comfortable manner, Jack made his way to the bar, quietly requesting the closest thing on hand, as to trouble the bartender as little as possible. Still trying to match names to faces, Jack searched his brain for the name of the bartender as he waited patiently.

She turned ever so slightly back towards him, her interest peaking, but stubborn as she was Angelique would not stop pouting, and let out a small whine of frustration.
Her eyes widened as she saw the lights, and she could not keep from turning towards the orbs and peering curiously into their depths.
"I...suppose." She looked down at the orbs again and sighed with resignation, "...Yes." She placed one slender finger on her lip, still pouting slightly.

His gloved left hand graced a cane, not for support of course, merely aesthetics, and his right rested in the pocket of his overcoat. No top-hat for him, he found the large hats a nuisance, especially in crowds. Nathan tapped his way gently down the sidewalk towards the Muse, smiling gently at the passerby, and fully flashing his pearly whites at a few choice women. He smirked at his own apparent attractiveness, and stepped into the crowded and noisy establishment, feeling a sense of happiness at the pleasure flowing through the room. He humbled slightly when associating with the bouncers, but only because the large men did look so threatening, and making a scene is in no way attractive. "Could you perhaps suggest where a man is to ask for a person who could answer a few questions about this establishment?" he questioned lightly, not sure how one is to go about getting photography permission in such an exclusive place.

I smile to myself, satisfied with her reaction to my new toy. With great skill and fluidity, I begin to pass the orbs between my hands, their dim glow of magenta, emerald, and honey creating a simple and hypnotizing flow of colors. "If you wish you could help me as an assistant. Then you would most certainly see another fairy soon. Would you like that?"

I smile to the young one. Although her body is trying hard to grow, her face remains that of a child. She will do just fine.

"You are new with us here, little one, so you probably have not met our little doll collector. She is young, like yourself, and she makes beautiful dolls. These are very special dolls and she needs special materials to make them. I gather these materials for her, to help her. I also entertain here at the carnival, doing tricks and feats. I could use someone to help me with my tricks while I am performing." Shifting the orbs into one hand, I pass my other hand in front of them and the magenta orb goes missing. Next I reach for her small hands. I use my empty hand to cup them together, like she is holding something, then I place my hand over hers. When I remove my hand, she is now holding the magenta orb. It is still glowing softly and feels warm to the touch.

Urban watched the Mistress go with a fairly annoyed expression on his soot-coloured features... he hated being sent on social errands, especially after people he didn't like. But... he would sooner use his .454 to clean his ears out than refuse to follow one of the Mistress's requests, so he made his way to the bar once more, and pulled out a datapad and began scrolling through the various people listed on the screen. If this person was truly as important as the Mistress indicated, he would certainly be listed...

However, the datapad was slipped into one of the many deep pockets of his coat as Urban noticed Jack's approach. Normally he blew people off until he deemed them worthy of his attention (people pay him for the additude, abuse seems to be welcomed), but... the guy looked lost. So, instead Urban paused across the bar from Jack, a single white brow arching faintly over his red-tinted glasses, that raspy tenor offering forth a query.

"So... any clue yet as to what you liked to drink? Or any faces familiar yet?"

"Could you perhaps suggest where a man is to ask for a person who could answer a few questions about this establishment?"

Giving the bouncers a sardonic tip o' the top-hat, our dear Reverend breezed past the door bouncers with no fuss or muss, due to a faint greasing of a palm with a credit chip of favourable colour. The line behind him bitched, of course, but... yeah, maybe if those kids paid their dues like he did, they'd get to cut in line, too. Tapping the iron-shod tip of his umbrella in time with his step, the Reverend began to stalk his way into the club.

That was, of course, until he heard the question from the dandy dressed in a suit that was in much better shape than his was, and probably cost a hell of a lot more, too. Kids. But, asking a question like that was like asking a hired mob thug where the bodies were buried, and if anyone was going to toss the dandy out, you'd better believe he wanted to be the person who did it. Who know, maybe the kid's coat would fit well enough for him to keep it?

So, instead, our good Reverend slithered behind the fellow in the nice suit, planted his umbrella firmly before him, and, not bothering to erase the sardonic smirk, injected just a bit of commentary into what he hoped would be an explosive encounter.

"Well, depends on what kind of questions you're asking, my good sir. Depends on who's answering, too, I suppose... ask the guys at the bar about drinks, they'll help you out with all kinds of ways of obliterating brain cells. Ask the dancers how much their attention would be, well... that might get you a lot more than slapped, my good man. Ask about stuff not in plain sight, heh... you might be letting these big fellows get a little satisfaction in smashing you flat, as well as their pay for the evening."

Lost in though but hearing a voice, Jack looked up, his eyebrows raised. It was the bartender.

"I'll take the closest thing on hand, food or drink, please... No more familiar faces than the ones I have become accustomed to. Say, sir, what is your name again? I'm terribly sorry; the memory problem seems to have lasting effects," he replied with a trace of tiresome disappointment, putting on a slight smile at his embarrassment at not being able to remember but a couple of names. It was frustrating, but Jack would not show it. He was casual by nature, now atleast, and seemed to cool off quickly.

"Oooh..." She murmurs, interest now having completely wiped away the pout from earlier. She would enjoy being useful. She stares at his hands, and gasps in delight as the warmth spreads throughout her fingers, and the soft light beings to glow from inside the cave. She looks down at it with a grin, staring into the pastel light and watching it's beauty.
She looks up to him and nods ever so slightly, "It would be fun!."

Nathan stiffened, and turned to regard the man who had commented in on a conversation that was obviously not his, with a look of annoyance on his face. He studied the man for a moment, looked to the bouncer, and nodded lightly, "I do agree you make a very good point, I suppose I couldn't very well expect him to answer me when I am so vague. I do apologize." He bowed with a flourish, and turned to the bouncer. "I apologize, sir, but I am a photographer, and I wish to speak to someone who could assist me in wondering how to document this absolutely splendid establishment." He looked back towards the interrupter and suppressed the urge to smirk smugly, instead looking into his seemingly cold eyes.

Well, didn't that just put the dear Reverend in his place, this dandy fellow directing the commentary to the bouncer. That was alright, though, because the bouncer was starting to get an amused smirk, and the Reverend wasn't even close to being done with this fellow. After all, the dandy gent had just offered so much fresh ammunition. But, there was a matter of speed, for one of the other guards looked like he was about to speak up, and there wasn't a chance in hell the Reverend was going to let the guy ruin his fun, well-meaning or not.

So, instead, the Reverend tapped a leather-clad finger to the side of his nose knowingly, giving the first bouncer our dandy chap had adressed a sly wink and grin, before saying, "Hmmm... sounds like he didn't read the sign, now, did he? No, no, don't trouble yourself, I know you've a job to be about," the Reverend stated, beckoning the second bouncer to stay put, that somewhat weathered face cracking in a wicked grin. "I think I can help this fine, dandy gentleman out of his particular perdicament quite nicely, and let you two enjoy the sounds and sights. Le sigh, it's a pity really... escorting a newcomer when one could be watching the dance-floor."

Turning fully to the dandy gentleman, our dear Reverend put on his most "welcoming" smile and clapped a leather-clad hand with vigorous cheer to the man's shoulder, leaning closer to murmur over the roar of the beast in the center of the dance-floor, allowing the overly fabulous flamboyantly fantastic play of words to continue.

"Now, you just happen to be in luck, my dear and wonderfully good gentleman. For you see, I have the know of this establishment, and I happen to be a wonderful aquaintence of just the person you need to speak to about this matter. Now, this can be a rough place for a new initiate such as yourself, so I'll hear no nonsense about inquiring with someone else, you just come along with me, and we'll get you settled right where you need to be..."

«<{ Urban }>»

A faintly wry smile crossed Urban's features, despite his best efforts... at least the guy was honest. Instead of responding, though, a tall glass was nabbed and filled with a number of concoctions, fruit juices, a few vegetable juices, and some other surprisingly pleasant, but non-alcoholic, items. Stir, straw, umbrella, and a deft slide down the counter surface to Jack, and that faintly raspy tenor emerged once more.

Mistress says nothing alcoholic until you've come up with creds, but... food is on the house since you're Marie's ward, you'll just have to scrounge it from the waitresses over at the booths. No food allowed at the bar, and such... makes a clutter, Mistress doesn't like it it. I'd say go pest Kendal, but... she's off duty. That drink should help a bit, though... seen my room-mate make it a million times, and it seems to keep her going for hours... and the name's Urban, if you need me for something specific.

Extending his hand to grasp the drink, Jack nodded as Urban spoke.

“Ah, Urban; I won’t forget,“ Jack replied with a wry smile. “That’s a reasonable policy… and thank you for the drink,” he completed. He lifted the mixture, not caring to ask what was in it, and finished it off in a few hasty gulps. It had an odd taste, but not unpleasant.

Sure the drink would keep him satisfied for awhile, Jack would not bother Kendal until he absolutely had to. More awake and full now, Jack stood up, but before he headed off, turned his head to speak again.

“Urban, I hope I won’t have to trouble you,” he said, giving a slight grin and inclining his head. He meant not that Urban was unpleasant, but that Jack preferred not to inconvenience anyone after he had been so graciously cared for after his accident.
