When I was in fifth grade and I was getting tested for my instrument for band, I wanted to play the flute, but that didn't work out, so they tried me on a clarinet mouthpeice, and it was an okay sound, and I couldn't even buzz on the brass mouthpeices. So they got out a bassoon reed and my test person was like *angelic voice* "aaaaaaah! Ding ding ding we have a winner!" and I didn't even know what a bassoon was. So I told my music teacher the next day and she was like "Oh I play the bassoon, I'll show you it before the year ends." and she showed me, and I thought it was the weirdest hunk of wood ever. But that first day I put it together the next year in 6th, I fell in love instantly, and I can't imagine myself playing any other instrument now.

Well in fifth grade, we got to pick three instruments from both band and orchestra, and I had really wanted to play the flute back then, so I picked that, the oboe, and the violin.
First I tried out the violin. Hated it.
Then I tried the flute. I couldn't play it right.
And THEN I tried the oboe. I loved the way the reed tickled my lips when I played it, and it sounded funny, so I was like, "Okay. I want this one."
And that's the story of my beginning band career. x ]

I WANTED to play trumpet but I couldn't blow into it well. Also I could have started on Sax or Clarinet but my family didn't want to deal with reeds and my mom had a flute. So I started off on it and after my 1st lesson with my flute teacher I was in love. lol

In fifth grade a polka/yodeling band came to my school and they had an epic trumpet player so I chose trumpet.

Well, I was poor back in the day and the instruments my middle school had offered for free were all brass. A lot of the kids picked trumpet, but I didn't feel like doing the same thing as everyone else. So, I saw the trombone and...it caught my attention. What was this thing with no buttons? So, I picked it. Now it has a special place in my heart <3
All the other instruments are different stories ;3

In 5th grade, we had an instrument test to see which instrument would be beest for us in 6th grade band. I thought I would get trombone, trumpet, or some brass cause I did a good job with them. But instead they said I was good for the alto sax. When I had the instrument test for the alto, I bit on both sides -facepalm-. But I got an alto and since then, I have loved every minute playing it.

hmm, well the directors told me that i had the lips to play a low brass instrument, so from there i choose between Trombone and Baritone; i chose Trombone, of course. ^w^

in 5th grade we got to pick i told my mom Trombone because there wernt as many so i wouldnt have to be good to be wanted plus i wanted to be better than my brother who played trumpet and we all know Trombones are amazing by the time I was in 6th i had learned close to nothing because frankly the 5th grade band teacher didnt know how to teach trombone so she only taught the trumpets in brass sectionals so i almost quit but my amazing middle school teacher taught me pretty how to play and read music in one month she is amazing i wish i was still in middle school just for her, and way in eighth grade i got a trumpet and played a little on it but got bored so i stopped and now i play piano and love it hopeful for my senior year of high school i think im gonna pick up french horn and mellophone or Tuba depending on what the marching band needs that year

I do believe I already explained how I got from not playing any wind instrument to flute, although as of recent I really want to learn to play every instrument, or at least be able to play a few scales on it well.

Ok before we enter the sixth grade we had to take a "test" to see what insterment we could play and stuff. My brother is a clarinet player and I could play that. But then my eyes caught the beauty of the Trumpet. I loved playing it and passed the "test" for both of them. Then my BD asked me to pick since they said I would be great on both. Well I didn't want to play the same thing as my older brother so I picked the Trumpet. Plus I also love the sound of it. ^^

When I was little, like six years old, Mama let me listen to her Kenny G. tapes, back when tapes were starting to be old. I fell in love with Kenny G's music, and I decided to play alto saxophone come fifth grade because of him. I even saw a real christmas concert of him! Yay Kenny!

I originally wanted to be a percussionist because I fell in love with the snare drums from the Michigan Marching Band. But when they didn't have that, I went with what I thought my dad played, the trumpet. He played the Trombone. sweatdrop
