Neasa glanced at the other people in the room, then back at Jess. "I'm sorry... about Alec, about everything he's done to you, about the fact that I've been working with him..." She frowned deeply, it was hard to admit she was wrong, but she needed to say this, and maybe if Jess knew that she hadn't quite been betrayed, she'd feel better? Or maybe Neasa was just being selfish again... "Do you know that I only just realized that to you I'm the bad guy?" She asked, and she couldn't help but laugh in a slightly bitter sounding manner at this.
She leaned a bit in closer, she was spilling here and she wasn't sure she quite wanted anyone else to know, though she knew they could probably hear. "I've never liked Alec, not his methods, not his goals, I've only been working with him because you don't tell a guy like Alec no," Neasa gestured to the room with her head, as if indicating them all. "You've seen what happens when you try to resist him, and besides... We both wanted the same thing, and I couldn't fight for that alone..." Neasa sighed and shifted, putting her head on her knees again.
"To you I might be the bad guy, and I'll admit I am working with a villian, but to me you're the bad guy, too," Neasa blinked, then struggled quickly to explain so Jess wouldn't be mad at her. "Unlike you, I've never been human. I was born to two lycan parents, turned years before I was born. If the Cure works and you all return to normal, that'll be just it: you returning to normal. You all had lives before all this, human ones, and my Gift, your Curse, ruined that all..." She felt really bad about that too, she really never liked hurting anyone; empathy was one hell of a gift to have. Even if you were happy with your life, you always got everyone elses pain, and right now Neasa was feeling a lot of pain.
Neasa gritted her teeth against it and continued, "But me, and who knows how many others who were born into this, aren't going to be simply returning to a normal life. The Cure will strip our normal lives away from us, it'll take from us who we are, it'll take away a part of ourselves that we've always had. All I know is my world of hieghtened senses and emotions, and the feeling of being a werewolf... If you take away all that... I won't know what to do with myself, because I won't be me anymore..." She was admiting her most secret fear, the fear of becoming something she wasn't, the fear of loosing part of herself and only being half a person.
She let out a long sigh and set her head back down on her knees after she'd lifted it back up again. "You'll be able to be normal people again, but I'll be nothing. I don't want this taken away from me..." She trailed off quietly, face flaming in embarrassment. What had even possessed her to say all of that? All she had wanted was to comfort her old friend, and now she'd probably just gone and said something that would make her angry with her. No one liked hearing the other side of the story.

Alaric snorted after hearing the Lycan's tirade. He couldn't help but respond, barreling in before Jess had the chance. "Do you even understand what it means to be what you are? Perhaps you had a pleasant childhood, but I know you've recently gotten a taste of the real world with Alec. You think he's the be all end all bad guy, huh? You're wrong. There are hundreds exactly like him all over the world, and more all the time. With those people around the bloodshed never stops. Besides, why do you think you have all your vaunted power? It was given to you for one reason, to kill. You're here to kill me and my kind. Vampires against werewolves, remember? The only reason that's not the case right now is the Cure. If the Cure dies, it'll all go back to the way it was. You won't be able to just saunter home and settle down to enjoy yourself. You'll be thrown right back into the pitched battle, and if you don't kill, you'll die." Alaric said the last two words simply, as a hard fact.
Then he took a breath and slowed the rush of words. "I don't particularly think that's what you want. That's certainly not what I want. It's true that you'll lose your powers as a werewolf, but without those powers you can avoid the eternal battle that accompanies them. Though if you want complete honesty, I couldn't care less what you decide. All I know is that if you make a move against the Cure, I'll kill you without a second thought. Hell," he chuckled, "I don't even know what I'd be killing you for. I don't know what being human is like, or if my life will even change. I'm just tired of the situation." When he'd finished he slipped right back into his previous posture. That had been quite the tirade. He hadn't known he was that on edge. All the emotion around here must have infected him. When he heard that dog start complaining, he couldn't help but retort.

Syvra stormed in, knocking aside Alaric in her rush. "Why'd you pull me off watch?" she fumed, grabbing Alice's knife from her hand and sending it quivering into the wall with a tremendous amount of force fueled by anger. "How could you think that I would be stupid enough to do something Logan? Leaving gave away my position. I doubt anybody had seen me until I was ordered," she put special emphasis on this, "to leave because of you assuming that I didn't know what I was dealing with. I'd already assessed the situation. I'm one of the only Cursed that isn't injured in any way and now there's NOBODY watching the tower to see if anything happens pertaining to Jasper's whereabouts. And to think that I'd just barge in and try something. I'm not stupid Logan. You should know that." She was pretty much screaming at Logan by then. Finished and breathing heavily, she gave Alice one long, hard venomous glance before walking outside. She jumped off the closely built walls until she ended up on the top of the structure they were hiding in, where she sat and watched the moon rise while the moon watched a tear slide down her cheek.

Her short hair actually rose an inch off of her skull at Alaric's words and she turned her head to glare daggers at him, eyes locked onto his in a stare that let out every ounce of hate, frustration, anger, and held back rage; if looks alone could Kill then right now Neasa would probably be among the most destructive people on the planet. "I know more about the evils of this world than you'd think." She hissed at him, spitting out every word, growling deeply. So what if he was right about Alec not being the only one? Neasa knew that first hand, and she also knew that not only vampires and lycans were like that; humans could be more dangerous at times. So what if he was right about the fact lycans and vampires were originally enemies before the Cure came along? For her killing wasn't an option; you don't kill people when you know their emotions and their pain, it causes too much psychological damage and then you end up insane.
Just thinking about just how much she really did know brought back all the pain: she could feel suddenly every blow she'd ever gotten from her mother's family, could hear them mocking her and telling her the only reason her mother was gone was because she had hated Neasa so much she'd taken her own life. She could taste her own blood in her mouth from her lip bursting, or a tooth being knocked loose or even completely out, or her teeth biting into her cheek or tongue. She could feel the scars on her back from the time her own aunt, her own flesh and blood, had beaten her with the butchers knife in the kitchen because she'd gotten under her feet, she could hear the threat that if she didn't stop screaming she'd be beaten with the blade directly.
It had been so hard when she was little to hide from her father what her aunts did to her, but after awhile the lying came easier and her acting was second nature. Her wolf form had been her protection, it had been a way to disassociate herself from what was going on. It was easier to become a wolf and hide somewhere, sometimes gone for days at a time, and pretend that the only reason they were like that was because they were human... or sometimes that she was just a wolf who had never been anything but a wolf and had never been near humans before. It was love for her father alone that brought her back, but the lying made a rift between them, and before long her disassociation with everything that hurt her came to include him as well... And then one day the stealing began.
It had started with her stealing from her aunts; they took their hate out of her own hide, so she would take hers out of what belonged to them. It had felt so good to take something back, that before long she started stealing from others. There was so much hate and rage inside of her, eating away at her, held in check only because of the fact she couldn't bare to feel others pain after knowing it first hand, and that was her way of letting it free. Neasa stole small things at first, but she soon began to realize that if she stole bigger things, and for others, she could earn money for it and get out of the hole that she'd allowed herself to be dragged into by her family.
Neasa's actions had been easily justified; they were humans, and she was not... at least, that was what it was at first. She didn't steal from humans alone, after all, the same accident that had resulted in her parents transformation had also transformed one of her four aunts, and since then a few of her cousins had become either lycan or vampire, two lycans born to her aunt and a vampire on her fathers side. Neasa had never really liked her fathers side of the family anyway, they had always favored her younger cousins over her.
It had been a simple hiest, or what was simple for her at the time anyway: break into a computer company and steal the latest software for the rival company. Only, Neasa had gotten caught, by Alec no less. She'd gone on instinct alone, agreeing more because an inner instinct had told her he was stronger than the fact they would ultimately be working towards the same goals, but that had helped in her descion as well. She had gotten much stronger since then, and she never got caught after that, either.
As much as she hated her family, despised them, even now she would never be able to kill them after what they had done. Sure, sometimes her daydreams were filled with bloody fantasizes of ending their lives, but she just couldn't take that final step. Neasa refused to become a killer, she wouldn't do that because that would only prove them right about her. Just because you refused to kill, didn't mean you would die, it only meant you had to become stronger than those who were willing to kill; and Neasa was certianly not weak despite her small frame.
And then, much to her amusement, he got knocked over, and it took all her power to restrain her laughter into a mere smirk.
((This was orginally gonna be a short one paragraph reply... and then Neasa kinda ran away with herself again. ^^ She kinda does that sometimes. Also, just so you know, I do actually know someone who went through stuff like this, so I kinda drew from them.))

Was every girl in the world pissed off right now? Logan sat through Syvra’s whole storm of shouting without a word. In all honesty, she had shocked him so badly that he couldn’t speak. Syvra wasn’t the best tempered girl he had ever met, but she never acted like this to him. Logan gave an apologetic look to everyone. “I’ll uh…be right back.” With that he smiled nervously and ducked outside. Getting to the top of the building took a little longer then it had for Syvra. Without looking the least but graceful, he finally managed to heave himself up, throwing his legs onto the roof and then scrambling upward. “Syvra?” he asked quietly, walking up slowly behind the vampire. He stopped a few feet short. When her only response was to turn further away from him, Logan’s eyes narrowed. She had no right to be this angry with him. “Thank you for doing your job and all, but you should at least trust that I know what I’m doing.” He folded his arms. “I know Alec. He isn’t going to take Jasper anywhere. He isn’t going to kill him. There was no reason for you to be so near the enemy, so I called you back.” Logan glanced up and realized with a grim smile that there was a full moon. The human’s story of werewolves being forced to change into huge monsters by the light of the moon was pretty laughable. Where the hell did they get those ideas? When he looked back down Syvra still had her back to him. He sighed. “Syvra, I need you here. What happens if we are attacked again? You are our strongest member right now.” He walked over to her and slowly, careful sat at her side. He didn’t look at her, instead gazing down at his ruined shoes. Blood and dirt and grime had sunk within the fabric, making them impossible to fix. Most everyone’s clothes looked like this these days. Things weren’t looking too hot for the Cursed. “And I don’t feel right sending you out on your own. I know you are strong, Syvra, but there are too many of them.” He rubbed his temple, still feeling tired. As soon as all of this trouble was settled he planned to ask Jess for some blankets so that everyone could finally sleep.

Alec examined his fingernails, picking at them meticulously to make them smooth and even. The only evidence of his renewed frustration was the deadly glint in his eyes. “Are you losing your touch?” He asked lazily. “If I have to explain the situation to you, then what good are you as a seer?” He waved a hand. “No matter. We all have our…off days.” A dramatic sigh escaped his lips and he rolled his eyes. “If you really must know, our little friend Jasper happens to know where the Cure is. Not that it really matters. I have his phone and I plan to call his little friends. They will make a trade. I know they’d rather let Jasper die then give me the Cure, so I will ask for Logan.” He smiled confidently. “But we will get both.” Alec took a few steps closer to the seer. His smile disappeared as his expression slipped to thoughtful. “As for Ebony, I trust her. She is the only of the lot of you that hasn’t disappointed me lately. She won’t kill the boy, not yet.” Alec waved a hand theatrically in the air as he resumed his pacing around the room. “Now, what else is it that you can tell me, Astraelle? Anything of importance? Because if not…you should be leaving.”

Jess sat down, listening to everything Neasa had to say. She appologized for Alec, which..didn't sit well with Jess. "Alec would never appologize..and he definately wouldn't want one of his workers doing it for him." She then said something about her not being the bad guy, it was the Cursed that was the bad guys, then she went on to explain herself, "Us..the bad guys? No not possible..we're the ones fixing all of this so that everything can go back to how it used to be, so that we can live semi-normal lives again." Jess looked at Neasa rather confused, she knew that the girl had never been human but she hadn't thought about it on her point of view. "I don't want this taken away from me..." Neasa finally said trailing off.
Before Jess could even get a chance to say anything in responce to Neasa, Alaric came barreling up. Then he began on his rant, "....Perhaps you had a pleasant childhood, but I know you've recently gotten a taste of the real world with Alec.... With those people around the bloodshed never stops. Besides, why do you think you have all your vaunted power? It was given to you for one reason, to kill. You're here to kill me and my kind. Vampires against werewolves, remember?....if you don't kill, you'll die." Jess looked over to Neasa and saw that she became furious, "I would be furious, too...Alaric really needs to learn to control himself...however..he does have a point." Jess stood up and backed off of the two a bit, hoping they both wouldn't notice. Neasa then went on a tyraid about what she went through as a child, she knew of all of that, so did her father. Neasa didn't know that. She also didn't know that both Jess and her father both went to her aunts and told them to stop or they would be killed. That's when it stopped.
The door slammed open quickly, it was Syvra, as she came in she knocked Alaric aside, which cased him to fall onto the ground for a second, but he got up momentarily. She was angry, Jess had never seen her this angry before in the whole time she had been with the Cursed and never did she speak that way to Logan. Before running back out of the building, no doubt to the top of it, she looked at Alice, angrily. Jess walked over to Logan and Alice and gave them both a confused look. "Uhm...what...the hell was that?" Logan shook his head and said, "I'll uh...be right back." With that he walked out the building and..struggling made it up to the top where Syvra was.
Jess looked down at what she was wearing, her shirt was soaked in blood from the attack at the warehouse and she looked around the room at all of the other Cursed..they weren't much better. She walked over to her old dresser and pulled open the drawer. She had pretty much everything in there for the girls..and for the short period that she lived with a man, she had some articles of clothing that was his. She looked around at the room again and said, "If anyone would like to change their clothes, I have clothes here.. there's not much I can do on the shoe situation, though." She grabbed something for herself to change into and walked over to one of the walls and changed her shirt, quickly. She figured Logan would want the group to sleep soon, after all it was getting late and almost everyone there was injured. She walked over to a chest that was behind the couch and opened it up and grabbed enough blankets for everyone and put them on the table. With her small frame, the blankets would easily topple if she tried to carry them all the way around the room to everyone. "Hey guys.. there's some blankets here too."

Alaric tensed as Syvra rushed in, but relaxed again when he realized who it was. He soon regretted it, however, when she barreled into him with enough force to knock him over. He quickly righted himself, expecting some sort of apology for the recklessness, but saw that she had barely noticed. She was focused on throwing her rage at Logan. Honestly, he'd rather be knocked over than be on the receiving end of that. She left and Logan followed. This happy little group was falling apart at the seams, but Alaric had no idea what to do about it. He was as on edge as the rest of them. He sighed and tried to resume a state of alertness as Jess hurried about rounding up blankets and offering a change of clothes.
How far he had fallen. He almost wished that he was back in the days of his naivety, when he truly believed the war between vampire and werewolf was a hallowed conflict, bringing glory and honor to its hidden participants. Perhaps it was once like this, but in his lifetime he'd only seen a flat-out brawl. Humans were turned and used to bolster the ranks, and the battle lines drawn between vampire and werewolf were hardly even there anymore. It was every man for himself. It would be the same when they were all human, he was sure, but maybe he'd get the chance to start over in a way he couldn't as a von Steitz vampire.

When Logan approached Syvra, she turned away to hide the tears sliding down her face. She didn't want him to see them and think she was weak. As he went on and she heard him walk towards her, she hurriedly wiped them away. As he explained why he called her back, she heard the sense in his words and she began rubbing her temples in exasperation, but dropped her hands when she saw him doing the same thing out of the corner of her eye. She looked over at him, then turned back to face the moon. She finally muttered, "So, you and Alice huh? Try not to hurt her." Syvra gave a dry chuckle as she turned and gave as much of a smile as she could. But she was sure that if Logan looked into her eyes, he would see the glint of her crushed spirit as she held back more tears and could tell that the smile was forced.

((Um, she only said the one thing outloud...))
When Jess got up and started talking about clothes and blankets, Neasa flinched slightly, but only slightly. 'What did I expect? I'm the villian to them, they're the good guys. Of course even if I understand them they'll never understand me... Should've know...' With that final thought she uncurled herself from her position and laid down as best and she could, on her side with her back facing the entire room and her nose against the wall; it was either that or try to sleep on her stomach, and she always snored terriably on her stomach.
She couldn't take back everything she'd said, she could turn back time and never say a word, but she could sure as hell sulk, brood, and regret every word of it. There was such a mixture of betrayl, hurt, blind rage, and hate in Neasa's heart at that moment that if she'd been alone she probably would have shifted into her wolf form by now and proceeded to tear everything to pieces before running off for a few days to calm down; OK, so she had a temper problem, she was willing to admit it. Of course, she couldn't do that, so she instead did what she always did when she couldn't get away to maime and sulk: she closed her eyes, took very deep breaths, and chanted over and over again in her head that she wouldn't loose her temper. Simple, effective, but not as much fun as destroying stuff.
