Otacon will be unable to take the test, before the character can take the Field Exam they must pass the written exams, go to the Fire Cavern etc

Speaking of the Fire Cavern, I need to take Rinoa on that, and Irvine should probably do it as well, just in case. Graey, you take the Fire Cavern challenge yet?

Oh lord ... a trip to the Fire Caverns would be like a walk in the park ... *Shrug*
Uhm, Chris, I had a idea though, why should Ifirit be the only Guardian Force in the cavern? Why not add a new Fire Guardian Force? Salamander comes to mind( A summon from FFT ). Somewhat like Leviathan only it represents fire.

You go to the Fire Cavern east of Balamb Garden and acquire Ifrit. You have to have a SeeD member with you who will support you, but not fight. You choose a time limit suitable to your abilities: 10, 20, 30, or 40 minutes.
After acquiring Ifrit, you're eligible to take the field exam.
EDIT: Because Ifrit knows not to kill the cadets, Croix. rolleyes
