"Mother mentioned that the demons might have killed each other off," Shiro offered with a hopeful tone in his voice. "She says that all they do is kill, and that once the elves were all dead, they might have turned on each other."

"Dangerous," Ura pronounced solemnly, his golden eyes stern and serious.

Shiro patted the little demon on the head. "Yes, dangerous," he agreed. "But I'm not going there, so it's all right." He looked over at Lin. "You just make sure you're very careful when you go," he warned her. "I don't want anything to happen to you."

He looked up at the building. "Are we going to go inside?" he asked. "Or wait here for Nako and Elros?"

"Aye ... I remember that," Aliya nodded. "So this is her first visit since then. I hope she's not too disappointed by Adonai's absence. The sad part is, no one can really explain it satisfactorily ... to themselves even, let alone to anyone else."

She paused thoughtfully. "Apparently when he left, he told Shael to take over the doctoring of the children," she murmured, "but Shael ... is better with the animals, when it comes to health. Mum took over the medicines, though she has a habit of resorting to magic when she's uncertain about something. Not that that's a bad thing, but sometimes I have to remind her to take it easy ... normally she's the one telling me that."

Adonijah was no longer satisfied with his cheek and tongue, and he started crying softly, his entire face twisting with the effort.

"Oooh..... I think someone might want more food," Feng murmured noticing how he seemed to want something.

Though she wasn't sure if it was food or something else, probably food though.

"Maybe Cindy could explain a bit more to her, or mother, mother was the one who taught Cindy, and we all know a bit of first aid. Never know who might come walking through the door needing to be patched up."

She hoped that was the case, because she liked to be in one piece thank you very much. She nodded at that as she looked around a bit.

"We'll wait around here for a while, I don't think the two have come off their shift quite yet..."

"Oh, okay," Shiro smiled back at Lin. "I think I'll sit down then, I know I'm not out of shape or anything but I haven't walked for this long since I lived in that box."

And he did just that, sitting on the ground with his back against the wall of the barracks. his wings tightly tucked in so that they wouldn't be injured.

"I think it would be a good idea if you did some research on all of the places where you're going to be going on your trip," he suggested to Lin as Ura sat next to him, "just so that when you go to these places, you'll know what to expect and a little bit of its history."

Aliya giggled softly. "Yes," she agreed, "he does seem hungry. As I said, I only gave him half a feeding, and babies need their food."

She reached for a small, thin blanket that was draped over the back of the couch, then held her hands out to Feng. "Here, give him to me," she smiled at her friend. "Careful though ... watch for his neck, make sure you hold his head."

It would still be several months before he would be able to hold his head up on his own, after all.

Carefully supporting his head and his body, Feng handed the little babe back to Aliya so she could finish feeding him. As a mer this was a new thing to experience, granted Seconds didn't give birth.

As far as she knew.

"He's so cute though, but I think I say that every time I come here..."

"Hmm... yea, though I'm going to have to ask, no one really sails it seems or at least not to all over the place outside of here," Lin replied thoughtfully, "I'll maybe bug Aragost when I'm older."

That was the general idea, she had a rough idea now that he had been to all over, but she had many other things she had to finish learning first.

"Aragost?" Shiro asked curiously.

Sensing Shiro's curiosity, Ura specified a question: "Who is Aragost?"

Aliya took her son back, smiling and, holding him in the crook of one arm, she used her free hand to pull the blanket over her son and her chest so that he could feed in private.

"You do tend to say that about at least one of my children every time you come here," she agreed in amusement as she opened her shirt beneath the cover of the blanket. "But I'm afraid I have no choice but to agree with you, if that says anything."

Once the infant was feeding happily, she sighed contentedly and relaxed.

"So what have you been up to while you haven't been here?" Aliya asked Feng curiously. "We don't hear much of you."

Feng mused on this for a moment, "Well.... I guess the reason why is because for me things haven't changed a whole lot. I mean... I'm still being educated, though Ryu and I should really, really, really... think about just taking the tests and leave the school. We're old enough, and the classes are getting to be a bit boring, but otherwise... nothing."

She shrugged after all she had no love life, the chances of a potential mate was rare to nothing. Feng didn't know what to do with her future, especially since mers by nature were confined most of the time to water.

"We're still training, but otherwise that's it."

"Aragost is one of the fighters," Lin explained, "He's also the person that Miyu goes to see. He knows a lot of things, and I think he's one of the few people who has pretty much traveled all over the place."

"I see," Shiro nodded thoughtfully. "And as big a world as this is ... to know so much ... he must be very old."

He stretched out one wing and stroked the tip of it gently. "I think it would be interesting to meet him," he smiled at Lin. "He must have so much to share ... so much to teach ... I would like to learn from him."

Aliya smiled sympathetically. "I'm sure you'll find something more someday," she assured her friend warmly. "If your father doesn't mind, perhaps you could stay out here for a while on your own ... maybe for a half a year or so? I'd love for you to stay even longer if you want to ... you could train here, too, and I really think it would be wonderful to have you. You could watch the children grow up, too, instead of just seeing them every few years!"

She had a feeling she was sounding a little desperate, but she really didn't get many visitors out there, especially those she was quite so fond of.

Suddenly, from out of the trees appeared three figures: two of them tall, and one about a head and a half shorter than the other two. Elros of course was the tallest one, his cold blue eyes bright with laughter and his normally expressionless face lit with a bright smile. The second, the smallest, was Serenity, laughing and talking cheerfully with the other two, her hair a few inches longer than the last time anyone from Gaia had visited; and the third, a tall, muscular fellow, was someone that was rarely seen at all: Daeron.

When the three elves spotted Lin and the children on stakeout at the door of the barracks, all three of them waved and called out a warm greeting, changing their speed slightly to go and greet the children that all of them suspected were waiting for them.

Feng had never thought about staying around here for a half a year, and wondered if Ryu would come too. It was a wonder if it had occured to her yet how much she still did everything with Ryu, more so than Yuki and Yue ever had done.

"Hmm... I should," Feng murmured thoughtfully.

Maybe she could do something at least semi productive, and probably the reason why she was considering it was that besides her family she wouldn't feel that out of place here. After all she was use to not having fellow mers to play with and having a river to herself. So it couldn't at all be that bad.
