Sirius frowned, this time not having to feign indignance. Some color rose in his cheeks. "There were no 'endeavors'..." Sirius told his friend. "And nothing climactic, either. We're going steady - I think - but that's about it.
"Now, stop changing the subject! Do you or do you not have a slight thing for Wendy?"
Sirius grinned.

"That's what I meant, mate," said Remus. "Wendy and I didn't get together or anything." He swallowed, hard, before biting his lip. "And I don't know if I have a 'thing' for her or not; I haven't done this enough to know whether or not I'm just fond of her or if I like her in that way." He dropped his head onto the table in frustration. "Whaddo I do, Padfoot?"

"Wonder what they're talking about?" Wendy wondered aloud. She was watching the two boys still, who were now clearly on a different topic and being very animated about it. She couldn't hear a word, and it drove her curious side mad.

Marketa peered down the table, watched for a moment, then turned to Wendy and shrugged. "Probably someting silly; you know 'ow boys are," she said passively, not really thinking much of it.

Sirius glanced down at Remus's hair. He crumpled a napkin and threw it at the boy's head. "Knock that off. No brooding for you, today. It's obvious that she cares about you, and she is really pretty... ah, but I can't persuade you one way or the other. It's your choice, my friend. But just hear me out - you need to quit that habit of becoming sad every time something good happens in your life."
Sirius grinned, and let silence sit in. His eyes wandered over to Marketa, who was farther down the table from him.

Mar smiled conspispiratorially at Wendy. "If you act like you don't care, dey will be more interested," she confided with a sly smile and a wink, nodding her head toward the boys.
"You know I don't try to do that, right?" asked Remus in a muffled voice from his position, after flinching slightly from surprise when the napkin his him. He lifted his head. "It just sorta happens." He gave a crooked sort of 'I'm-really-hopeless-aren't-I?' smile before looking down at Wendy as well. She didn't look very interested in what they were talking about. Weird...

Wendy raised her eyebrows. "Oh, is that how it works, then?" she asked, making a point of completely turning her back on the boys as she focused more on her conversation with Mar. "Funny. Why d'you think that is?" It wasn't long before she could feel eyes on her back. She fought a smirk.

Sirius turned back to Remus. "Yeah, I suppose. But you need to guard against that...
"I wonder what they're talking about," he said, changing subject faster than a motorcycle could change gears. Curiousity was beginning to nag at him...

"Yeah, same," Remus pondered, ignoring Sirius's remark altogether as he stared down the table. "Hey, hey, Wendy turned around! Now I can't read her lips! What the hell!?" he added in a frantic voice, hitting the table with his flat palm a few times for good measure.
"De same reason gerls get upset when boys forget to owl dem just to say hyello or goodnight," said Marketa wisely.

"I didn't know you could read lips, Moony!" Sirius exclaimed before studying Marketa. "I can't... but at least she's facing me... Bloody HELL! Why won't she look over here?"
He didn't really care, but it was starting to nag at him. He was, after all, 'sprung'.

"Maybe they're talking about something they don't want us to know!" Remus suggested worriedly. "What if they're...comparing us to other blokes!? We need to know what they're talking about!"
Mar could feel eyes drilling into her, and delicately laced her fingers together in order to rest her chin on them. "Now watch," she whispered to Wendy. She flickered her eyes over to Sirius for only a split-second before turning her full attention back to Wendy, allowing a small secretive smile to form on her face.
Sometimes, she loved being a woman.

Wendy giggled, inadvertently adding to the effect of the gesture. She'd never been the "girly" type and had never had many female friends to begin with, so this was all quite new to her. But just like all girls, once she was let in on the secrets she was having a lot of fun. "Are they reacting?" she asked.
