Naomi could suddenly hear lots of yelling come from one of the boys; this couldn't be good.
"What's that awful noise?" she wondered aloud. Part of her really wanted to see who it was (although her guess was probably going to be correct and be Domanik), for the agruement back was a girl's voice. Oh crap.
"Better check this out, Emma; she might need backup." Naomi said suddenly getting off the bed and running out hte door. She hoped her dear sister would catch up.
She got to the souce of the noise on the note of"Just like you can't seem to show any respect for your betters", coming from Domanik. As she listened quietly in the hallway, she could feel a sudden rage boiling up inside her. All these things the girls have sacraficed, and this jerk had hte absolute NERVE to go and call their mother a slut and degrade the girls themselves. Time for some venting. She forced herself to step foward; she got htem in this mess, she could at least help get them out of it. She waited after Madeline swung (which was quite good), before making her entrance.
"Pardon my intrusion, Sir Domanik, but I believe it's not very polite of you to be starting an arguement with one of my sisters, for it doesn't show that your more mature nor BETTER than anyone else. That only makes you a hypocrite of your own words stating that we're the ones that lack manners." Naomi started suddenly, coming towards them both. One of the creepiest things when you get her mad, was that her voice stayed sweet as sugar for most of her opinion-voicing, as if totally normal. She had to protect her sisters from this hell-hole, it was the least she could do.
"As for my mother being a slut, let me remind you (quote Madeline here) that it was YOUR father that offered her the job that paid well enough to support five daughters, YOUR father that purposed to my mother, and YOUR father that got her to agree for her to live here. Sound more like he's the one making the moves, not dear mother. Now, you've already taken our mother for quite a few years, 13 I believe, so chances are you know her quite a bit better than I do; than any of us..."
She took a few more steps foward, her voice suddenly going a very icy cold, almost evil sounding. It coud fill the room with a chill. THis was the you're-screwed kind of voice that made you want to run, and it showed she was serious.
"So I'd appreciate it if you'd at least attempt to show some manners and appreciation for what we've sacraficed for the sake of both of them. Your brothers have yet to show this kind of disgraceful behavior, so I know at least some of you have manners. God forbid I throw my cares into the wind and knock your lights out."
This was true; she took karate, and no one messed with her since that one attempted fight in middle school last year. Haha, thankfully it was out of self defense, but the guy left with a broken nose. He asked for it though.

Domanik ducked aside with ease, her furious swing missing. How rude! She was actually getting violent over her tramp of a mother. He lowered his voice, no longer yelling. "Perhaps if your father had planned better, perhaps if he'd loved your mother, he wouldn't have left her in such a mess. It's clear to me that neither of your parents care for you or any of your sisters. Your father fated you to starve when he died, and your mother gleefully abandoned you."
Then of course, another sister had to investigate. He turned his venom on her as well. "Before you go sticking your abnormally long nose where it doesn't belong, and whipping out such high-classed violent threats, I suggest you get all the facts. Madeline started this argument, not me. I merely suggest she leave me alone, and then she began harassing me. So, please, stop your rude behavior of eavesdropping and intterupting others."

"Ifs are for the poor." Madeline told him and walked away. The library would be a good place. It was right past the music room. Maybe she'd take another look in there. It would calm her down a bit. She turned and stepped in there, not noticing Markus for now.

"Well, I apologize for following your unnaturally large mouth with my abnormally large nose (you could wake aliens with that voice); perhaps if you had just kindly told her she was in the wrong spot, there would have been no arguement. We just got here today; we're bound to get lost at least once. And I can't help caring for my own sister's safetly, sorry if that's a sin to you.
And I love how you ignored pretty much my entire arguement as well as Madenline's key points.
And if I remember correctly, your voice was the first one I heard, not Madeline's. That, and you're calling our mother a slut, so you're asking for someone to yell at you there. So unless you can prove otherwise, get your own facts straight."
Seeing Madeline take her leave, Naomi decided she had had her fun. She'd pay for it later, but she cared not. He asked for it completely and honestly, asked for it. She got back to her room along with Emily. "ARCKGH! I hate having to do that." the girl sighed and flopped onto the bed, puncing it once or twice. She had to use all her willpower not to punch that moron in the face.

Adrienne leaned against the wall, her eyes closed, thanking God that she wasn't the only one who appeared to be losing it; the fight could be heard even where she was. Domanik, and Madeleine. She was glad it wasn't just her who was freaked about this enough to start a screaming match with anyone who would listen.
Adrienne opened her eyes and made a mad dash for where she thought her room was. She was lucky and guessed right. Slamming the door behind her, she quickly tore off her pretty clothes, forced herself to hang up the dress so it wouldn't be ruined, then scrubbed her face clean in the bathroom. Her hair was piled on top of her head in a haphazard bun. Her cello stood, already set up in it's stand beside the chair, in the corner of her room. She smiled, walked over and ran her fingers down the side of it; her mother had probably gotten someone to set it up for her while they were at dinner. The girl walked over and lifted the large intrument, placed in front of the chair and sat. A moment later, deep, haunting notes filled the room, then spilled outside into the hall.

Alyekzander, like any one else in the vicinity, could easily hear Domanik and Madeline arguing. "Hell's bells, looks like I warned her too late." Still, even Domanik would not get too unruly. Alyekzander stopped walking, frowned and turned back to walk the way he had come from. He did not hurry, though, so Naomi had found her way to Domanik's door first. Too late to even see the punch thrown, and noting that voices were now lowered, Alyekzander determined the argument was as under control as it was going to get. So he did not speak until the girls had left.
Or at least, he thought he would speak. And yet, taking a look at his younger brother, what was there to say? They had not asked for these girls to be here, they had not stolen this woman who now saw fit to usurp their mother's place. What was there to say to his brother who chose hatred over Alyekzander's own choice of aloofness?
"I hope you are satisfied, at least. For all your wrath and vinegar, it changes nothing. Good night, brother." Alyekzander turned and once again headed for his room. Domanik would surely say nothing of interest and hurled insults were not worth his time waiting for. Once in his room, Alyekzander immediately stripped down and flopped face first on his bed. Today had been entirely too long; he lacked the will to even slip into pajamas. Anyone foolhardy enough to storm into his room uninvited could kiss his bare, upturned rear end.

What could Domanik say? Alyk was right, of course. Damn him! He'd just been vindicated by the fact that the 'sisters' had retreated, only to have Alyk burst his bubble. Oh well, perhaps over time they'd learn to stay clear of him. How dare they try to play the victims here? In Domanik's mind it made no sense. They got their mother, and residence in a finer house then they'd ever known. Not to mention the fact that Father would no doubt try to win them over with expensive gifts any day now.
All their sorrow was in the past:
Dead father--in the past.
A mother who was never there--in the past.
Money troubles--in the past.
They only stood to gain from their mother's marriage, and they chose to whine about it instead. Fine. Let them mope about it. Dom would oblige them by giving them something to be upset about. He'd learn the weakness of each one and break them all. He slammed the door to his bedroom, locking it. He'd insisted on the lock being installed when he was sixteen. A worthy fight, for the lock had served him well.
he stripped down to his boxers and a tee-shirt. He was too agitated to sleep, but there was nothing else to do that appealed to him either. He sighed and turned on his 360, he'd shoot at things in Halo until he was tired.

Emily sat down carefully next to Naomi, and, when the girl was done punching pillows, ran a hand over her soft brown hair. She could remember doing that when Naomi had been no more than two, asleep across the laps of Cecilia and herself. There wasn't anything she could think of to say that would help. Outside Dominik's room she had, as usual, simply stood in the shadows and let her sisters handle things; it would have surprised her greatly to find out that anyone had noticed her at all. She wasn't a coward. It was just her way.
That and, traitorous as it was, she found herself agreeing with Domanik on a purely intellectual level, but maybe that was because she did not regard her mother as the same mythically wonderful creature her younger sisters did. Could she honestly say that fate had done her family a disservice in the marriage? No, she could not. In fact, everything he'd said was true, as cruel and cutting as he had made it sound. She, for one, was not unhappy with their change in situations; she would be able to go to the collage she'd wanted, now, which wouldn't have been financially feasible before. Publishing her book would be easier, because she could finally hire a decent agent. Not that it didn't grate on her nerves to hear her family insulted that way, but she considered herself quite capable of rising above her own irritation. But then, she'd always been better at functioning on a purely logical level than any of her sisters; they apparently were simply unable to get past the imagined theft of their mother and the meaningless hostility of their new stepbrothers.
Of course, Emily couldn't really say any of that. It certainly would not help Naomi calm down, so she just sat beside her sister, silently stroking her hair. After several minutes, she spoke up. "Didn't you want to show me something?"

Naomi went silent for a few minutes or so after bedsheet beating as Emily tried to calm the youngest sister by stroking her hair. Sometimes the girl was less of words and more of action, especially in a tighter situation. Namoi hated to seem like the switch-a-roo angel to demon, but that IDIOT of a brother was asking for it!
But the worst feeeling being that she couldn't do more to protect her family; she mostly considered her family to be sisters only, her mother more of a in-and-out kind of character. After all, mother had found new kids; otherwise she would've quit her job much sooner out of guilt. But she never did, whether for the sisters' sakes or for other reasons she did not know.
"Hm? Oh, let me think for a sec; can't remember." Naomi thought for a moment, going back to the past conversation before the big mess.
"I metioned there's cake in the fridge, but that's all I can think of.......
But I was concerned about you; is everything ok? You seemed really tired earlier."

Markus was as oblivious to Madeline as she was to him. Eventually, though he felt his aloneness disturbed, and he said to te girl, "Evening, Madeline. I hope Domanik didn't hurt your feelings too badly. I would have interfered, but there were two things holding me back. First, I didn't want to take sides against my own brother. An idiot and an a** he may be, but he is still my brother. Secondly, and most importantly, I wanted to see how you fared against him. If I had rescued you from him, He woud only have tried the same thing again when I was away." During his speech, he'd crossed to the girl. He furrowed his brow. If he'd been her real brother, he'd have hugged her, but he feared she may take that the wrong way. Still the girl did look in need of comfort.
He patted her head in an unsure way. Then, he sat behind the piano, and played for her a lullaby his mother used to sing to him, on the nights her mother had off, presumably singing to her. The tune was a bit high for his voice, but by dropping the whole thing an octave, he was able to sing the words softly. It was a silly song, but he enjoyed it. He switched a couple of words in the first verse though, otherwise it might have been awkward:
"Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, Lavender's green When you are Queen, dilly dilly, I shall be King"
It didn't rhyme, but that didn't matter. He finished the song:
"Who told you so, dilly dilly, Who told you so? 'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, That told me so
"Call up your friends, dilly, dilly Set them to work Some to the plough, dilly dilly, Some to the fork
"Some to the hay, dilly dilly, Some to thresh corn Whilst you and I, dilly dilly, Keep ourselves warm
"Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, Lavender's green When you are Queen, dilly dilly, I shall be King
"Who told you so, dilly dilly, Who told you so? 'Twas my own heart, dilly dilly, That told me so."

Emily smiled slightly. "My day has been spectacularly uninteresting, humiliating, and filled with a surplus of manual labor. I was very tired when I first got home, but that wasn't a significant problem by the time I got to dinner." Her smile widened a bit. "As I'm sure you guessed." She brought her legs up onto the bed and curled them underneath her in a more comfortable position. "But I'm sure your day was much more interesting than mine. Did you get to explore at all? I've been meaning to."

Madeline smiled sweetly at him. "Its fine, I needed it actually." She stretched slightly, although she added silently 'the bit about my dad did hurt.' She hadn't really thought of her father all that much. Since he was dead and all, but wasn't he well off? What happened to that money? How'd they end up in a gutter? She wasn't able to listen to the song, in fact she was more troubled now. She sat down, thinking. She stood up again and smiled at him. It was a troubled smile but a smile all the same. "I'll see you around." She yawned for effect. "G'night."

Naomi could tell by Emily's tone that it had something to do with her job at the coffee shop. Naturally, the recent move had probably effected her mood and ability to concentrate. Naomi hoped the girl didn't get fired.
"Actually, I think I covered everywhere in the house; it's pretty nice. Unless there's some secret lab somewhere, that is." she chuckled as she too relaxed, sitting more up on hte bed and now cross-legged. "Oh! And my computer finally came back, so I got to pick that up from the store today. It's not easy finding your way out of this neighborhood; all the houses look almost the exact saaaame!"

Max moved past his brother's rooms, making no effort whatsoever to be quiet; in fact, he poked his head into each room as he walked by. Markus' room was empty, but Alyk's was decidedly... not. Making a face, Max slammed the door quickly. Leave it to Alyk to make annoying him completely not worth it, he thought, shuddering. Well, hopefully Dom would be more entertaining; Max could certainly always count on him to throw an amusing temper tantru-- Max opened the door and paused, looking uncertain. His brother was playing videogames, Halo by the sound of it, and the expression on his face was dark even by his standards. "Hiya, Dom. What's up your a**?" He put his hand up to his mouth in mock concern. "Did the little girls make you mad? That was very wrong of them."

Markus nodded at Madeline as she ywned. "I think I'll be going to bed too. Do you think you can find the way through the labyrinth to your room?"
Dom would have to get the lock repaired. Or, ah...He'd been so upset by the events of the evening that he'd unlocked the door after locking it. In anycase, it meant the Max was in his room. Needless to say, this was not his favorite place for Max to be. Domanik's younger brother seemed to delight in provoking his wrath. Dom ignored his comments, only pausing the game to toss the second controller to Max. "If you're going to annoy me, at least be useful and help me kill things while you're doing it."
