Bronzepaw looked up, confused. "What?" She asked, having not heard. She saw the lights of the monster then, and tried to get away...but not before it ran over her tail. She let out a yowl of pain, and looked at her now flattened tail.
Spicepelt grinned, and followed. "Okay, Autumnpaw. I'll teach you something today. Just try to aim for my pelt or neck, but go down to my legs. Quickly." She braced herself on instinct.

"Bronzepaw are you ok?" Scarhead asked running onto the Thunderpath. Scarhead looked at her tail. This is my fault, if I didn't let her go on the Thunderpath she wouldn't have got hurt, I'll never be a good mentor. "Come on, lets get you back to Leopardpelt." Scarhead meowed.

Icestar! Yes! Lets go! Blizzardpaw exclaimed hopping up. Have fun battle training Autumnpaw! I'll see ya later! As he had finished his sentence he was already waiting for Icestar by the exit of the Thunderclan camp. He flicked his tail impatiantly again and was almost jumping up and down from the excitement. Come on Icestar!!!

Icestar purred in amusement. "I'm coming, keep your fur on!" She padded past Blizzardpaw and led the way out of camp. She glanced around while they were walking and stopped suddenly, crouching down. She flicked her tail, instructing Blizzardpaw to do the some. "Now," she whispered. "Sniff the air. What do you smell?"

I...smell... its something musty. Could it be a badger? They live in the dirt don't they? Blizzardpaw asked trying to guess at the smell. It wasn't familliar to him, and he had only heard about badgers from Spicepelt and Icestar. Never had he actually encountered one. Then his ears pearked up as he heard a twig snap in the forest not too far off. The snow had muffeld the sound much, but Blizzardpaw was able to make it out faintly. He looked up at his mentor with curious eyes.

Icestar nodded. "Good, but the badger scent is stale. I'll have to remind Spicepelt to look out for any threats." she mewed. Then she glanced to Blizzardpaw who also heard the noise. Icestar raised her nose. She reconized the scent instantly but she wanted to see if her apprentice could tell what it was. "What does it smell like over there?"

Now that one I recognise! Blizzardpaw replied turning his ears and putting his nose up in the air again. I smell squirrel, Icestar. Then he looked at her again while getting into his stalking position waiting for her directions.

"Good!" she replied approvingly. She watched as Blizzardpaw got into an almost-perfect stalking position. "You've almost got it." she mewed. "Here, like this. Try it." she instructed, getting into the correct position.

Blizzardpaw perfected his stance by watching his mentor then moved forward a few steps to test if he was geting the walking right. While he waited for the critique, he heard the squirrel move once again. He knew that he would have to be quick, unless Icestar desided to show him how it was done first.

Autumnpaw dropped down and prepared to attack her mentor's neck. She leaped and attempted to attack Spicepelt's paws. She tapped the paw with her paw then landed beside her mentor. "What kind of damage would that do?" she asked in a confused tone.

Spicepelt looked at her. "Your enemy will brace its neck or pelt, leaving its paws virtually unguarded. You can easily attack a cats leg and break it." She lifted her uninjured paw. "Though I wouldn't just tap it with your paw."
Bronzepaw got up painfully, and followed Scarhead back. "Ow.Ow.Ow." She mewed the whole way back, and fell over twice. She managed enough to yowl, "Leopardpelt!"

Icestar flicked her tail telling Blizzardpaw to continue. "Go ahead, but keep you breath under control and keep your tail down." Icestar could remember back during her apprentice days when she would always forget to keep her tail still.

BLizzardpaw did as Icestar said and kept his tail down. It was harder keeping his breath under control though, he was so excited! Slowly and silently Blizzardpaw stalked his prey and though it seemed like it took forever, he was soon only a few feet away. With all his might he sprung forward on the oblivious squirrel. Quickly he suffocated the rodent in his strong jaw, sharp teeth piercing its jugular. The squirrel fell limp in his grasp. Blizzardpaw immediantly ran over to Icestar with pride shining in his eyes. Icestar! I did it! And Look at the size of this guy! He mewed excitedly, dropping the meal at her paws.

Icestar looked at the siize of the prey her apprentice had caught. "Congratulations!" she purred. "Now, bury it here, and sniff around for anything else you can find." Icestar lifted her nose and something strange was in the air. Is that.....blood I smell?

Yes, mam! Blizzardpaw answered, burring the squirrel in the freshly fallen snow. Pitty though that it didn't cover the blood seaping from the poor creature. Snow was fun to hide in, but hard to hide blood with. When he had finished his whiskers twitched as he picked up a metalic scent in the wind. He looked to his mentor for an answer and found Icestar deep in though, her brow lined with worry. What is that smell, Icestar? He asked worried. He hated being left out of a loop.
