"Why does a dragon's hide get weak to between? I thought it was just really cold there or something..." Teyin couldn't help his mouth hanging open slightly at that. He knew little dragons couldn't fly between, but he and his friends had only picked up that maybe it was because they had to do 'visualising' or something.

"Jaiereth is very handsome," he added softly, the paler Isca fluttering beside the dragon's head, chirruping happily.

"I don't know, the teacher hasn't told us...I guess if it scars it's just not as protective there." He scratches his head thoughtfuly at this, wishing he did know the answer. "All I know is that it's a bad thing. I guess it's like when your hands get really beat up and dry out, and then crack. Maybe it's something like that..."

Jaiereth trumpets gleefuly as he's complimented, fluttering his wings.
"And he says thank you, by the way."

"My hands always do that after doo much cleaning," Teyin trotted down bodly to stand beside the weyrling for a moment, before flopping down to sit on the floor, knees drawn up and his chin resting there thoughtfully. He was much closer to the young dragon now, and he grinned slightly, thinking that when young, the dragons were so less graceful... but still as cool. "And Jaiereth is handsome! Just like a great big Isca," and the child laughed suddenly as the sky blue flit cheeped in annoyance. "And that's a compliment, dumb thing." Teyin's green eyes sparkled with contianed laughter as the fire lizard flipped its wings back and chirped complacently, mollified by the statement. Isca settled down to paddle on the surface of the water beside Jaiereth, flicking out his small wings and causing water to splash everywhere.

"Isca, don't splash the big dragon!"

Jaiereth 'suffers' this light shower with great dignity before flaring his own wings, careful not to actually strike the tiny dragonete, though it does send an impressive arc of water...well just about everywhere, including over R'ael who's cry of "Hey don't!" Comes a few seconds too late.
"I'm sure they're all properly impressed by how big you're getting, but now you can appologize for soaking...I know you didn't mean it but you're Bigger than you used to be and you soak more people..." He argues with the dragon a moment, before glancing back over to Teyin as the dragon bows it's head in what's obviously supposed to be an apology, although the look in it's eyes seems as much impish as apologetic.
"Sorry about that..." R'ael supplys. "He's very flattered that you think he's handsome by the way.

Isca squeaked and fluttered backwards towards the supposed safety of the boy he looked to, wings spraying water droplets and wet legs scrambling for a grip in the blondebrown curls. Teyin made a face and tried to grab for the little blue, spluttering slightly at the first splash of water and then the renewed dampness of the fire lizard.
"Gyah!"
The boy let out a surprised squeal before managing to get hold of Isca, the fire lizard projecting images of awe at the big blue dragon's largeness and how much better he was than Isca... Teyin smiled slightly and cuddled the little creature for a moment , reprojecting that he didn't care if he wasn't so big, that he loved him just as he was. Isca buried his little head under the boy's arm for a moment, a light chirrup his reply as Teyin looked up, grinning.

"No need to apologise, my mother will probably say I needed a bath anyway," and he shook his head a little to get the strands from his eyes. "Now I can say Jaiereth gave me one!"

Zelith flew easily, strong muscles sliding past each other, bunching and knotting beneath the smooth hide. Astride him, Rinfala grinned in delight. It was always so wonderful to just fly above the Bowl for the sheer pleasure of it. You got a better view of the Weyr than even the highest weyr in the cliffs. But, it was getting a bit late. With a sigh, Rinfala nudged Zelith downwards.

Okay, down we go, Zelith replied smoothly, banking into a turn and gently spiraling downwards. As the brown backwinged to a landing, Rinfala slipped down, grunting softly as her knees bent to absorb the impact.

G'dor walked quietly into the bowl, his hands tucked tightly into the pockets of his pants, the fur collar of his coat pulled up around his face. He had a blank expression on his dark face, his eyes focusing on nothing in particular. It had been a long few weeks for him. Anyone around him would have noted that he was either deathly quiet or terribly grumpy with anyone that tried to make any effort to speak with him. He kept to himself when away from wyerling lessons, doing all the chores expected of him and retreating back to his quarters or finding a tree to settle under long enough to carve. He must have had dozens of the small wooden sculptures tucked away or lined up- most of cats and dragons. He didn't seem to want to carve anything else.

The boy paused, catching a glympse of R'ael speaking to another one of their wyermates. He stood quietly off to the side for a time, allowing the two to converse before making his way forward, clearing his throat to grab the attention of R'ael.

It was the middle of the day, after everything had been finished, and Remia had a bit of free time to herself. She wandered out into the bowl, reveling in the feeling that, if only for a moment, she had nothing pressing to take her attention away from relaxing.

Trith nudged her mind, and the green asked, Mine, you should find Datiath and his rider. You always have fun with them, and if your time is free, they must have free time, too, right?

"Hm... not necessarily, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? There's not much daylight left, but it could be enough for a swim, or a walk... or even just sitting in the hall and chatting. We've been so busy lately... I think you're right, my love! Let's go see if we can fine N'tren and Dattie!" the teen said, and looked around, to see if he might be in the vicinity. Not catching sight of him, she went inside to see if anyone knew where he might be.

N'tren was over at the hunting grounds. Though Datiath was still a weyrling, he was growing larger by leaps and bounds. He was in the middle of bringing down a small buck to satisfy his hunger. It was a clean kill with the bronze dragon coming down on the small of the back.

Good kill beloved. N'tren spoke with pride. There were not too many other riders or dragons around.

I do not want to cause pain. I just want to eat. Datiath replied even as he began to tear into his dinner.

The site of his dragon eating slightly churned his stomach but that was the nature of his beast. They all had to eat some way, some how. He was sitting on a large rock eyes slitted due to the setting sun. They had been so busy lately with lessons and his work in the kitchen that he really had no time to relax and talk to anyone.

Especially Remia.

Trith says her rider likes you.

"How about that," N'tren spoke outloud. She is agood friend. And Trith is a good dragon.

That she is.

Remia was just about in the door when Trith slowed, and said, Mine, Datiath is hunting. His rider is with him.

"Ah, so they're out here? Good! Are you hungry, sweeting?" Remia asked.

I am fine. I will wait to hunt, Mine. the green replied, tapping her rider gently with her nose as the teen passed her to go back out into the weyr bowl.

"Alright then!" Remia said, and started jogging over to the hunting grounds, Trith trotting easily beside her. One might think the rider had started jogging to keep up with the dragon, who seemed to be hurrying, much to her bemusement.

There is Datiath, Mine. And his rider.

Remia could see them, now, too. And her smile brightened as she approached, waving. about 50 feet out, she slowed down, and adjusted her bandana on her hair, making sure it was in place and smoothed down.

"N'tren! Hello! And Datiath, you're in good color," she greeted them, and Trith rumbled her own greeting.

I saw your kill. It was good, Trith said only to Datiath as she settled down to wait a bit of a distance off.

N'tren tried not to blush or grin. They were weyrlings still no matter how large Datiath was... They could not show favor or true commitment when their dragons were so young.

All the same, he kept a pleasant look on his face and waved. "Hello Remia! And hello to you, Trith. You have grown a bit, haven't you?"

Datiath was finishing off his dinner when he looked up to see Trith charging at him. He knew she could fly short distance but nothing spectacular. Bowing his head at her, the bronze remained his ever polite and kindly self. Thank you. I try to make it clean. How are you progressing?
Swinging his head towards Remia, Datiath blew gently at her. Hello, Trith's rider.

Outloud, N'tren spoke. "We haven't seen much of each other since my Naming Day, huh? How have you been?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 07, 2006 12:18 am

Trith favored N'tren with a whuff in his direction that ruffled his hair, saying, I have grown, then turned her attention to Datiath.

I caught one yesterday, but it was not so clean as yours. I caught it with my claws. It was good, though, she said, with a satisfied tone.

Remia smothered a giggle as the dragon's blew at their opposites' rider, then answered, "I've been so busy! I've been working hard at visualizing with Trith, and we exercise her wings every day for bit. I've also been working on that senior project for the Weaverhall. It's coming along nicely, but I'm still at a loss for what to do on the other end... Did I tell you about it?" she asked, not sure if she'd mentioned what she was doing for it to him or not.

N'tren grinned at the spicy, meaty breathe of Trith. He appreciated her bulk next to Datiath's and then turned to Remia. His eyes danced as she talked about her projects and weyr life.

"You haven't had the chance to tell me anything. Farin keeps our noses to the grindstone with drills, lessons on injuries and the sort. Sometimes, I feel like my head will explode."

I watched you hunt from the tip of the bowl. His duties do not keep him busy enough, so he thinks much. Datiath's eyes whirled slowly and with regard to his rider. He thinks often of your rider.

Not knowing that he was the subject of the dragons' talk, N'tren continued onward. "There is only so much cleaning and baking one can do... I may ask Farin to find new duties for me."

Trith turned her faceted gaze to the two riders. Mine likes to spend time with your rider. She wishes she had more time to do so. Trith rumbled and shifted, bringing her tail up around her.

"I wish I had a little more time... Between working with Trith, doing my chores, and working on my project, I feel like I'm missing everyone. I never did find out what happened with G'dor and R'ael and their fight. I hope they made up."

She sighed, and shook her head. "Anyway, nothing I can do about it. Speaking of my project, though... I'm making a shawl. I managed to wheedle some fine yarn from the Hall, so it'll be soft. Most of it is a... varigated blue-white, so it looks like clouds, and I'm weaving in flying dragons, one of each color!"

She sounded excited, but kept her voice low, as though she were telling a secret. Her eyes glowed. "If it turns out, and gets approved... I'm hoping I can give it to the Weyrwoman," she added in a whisperl, leaning in a bit.

Datiath rumbled in amusement even as the two riders continued to chatter. I wonder when they will learn to say what they feel? Watch this.

N'tren was nodding in agreement with Remia about not having enough time. He began to speak not paying any mind to his dragon. "I think they kinda made up. They talk to each other in the dorms but not for long."

He tilted his head and imagined the shawl in his mind. It certainly sounded pretty enough. N'tren raised his eyebrows as she talked about giving it to the gift to the Weyrwoman. "I bet should would love it, Remia."

It was then that Datiath "accidently" swept his tail at N'tren causing him to tumble into Remia.
