Flustering at the nuzzle, Amuriel felt her heart rise to her throat again, and she smiled somewhat bashfully, her face flushed a deep red.
"No wait.." she started, stepping toward him as he stepped back. "I don't mind. I actually.. I actually liked it.."
She wished he would nuzzle her again, but he seemed to be embarrassed with himself for the tenderness. She didn't want to him to be embarrassed over something she had enjoyed, so shifting nervously, she took another step and reached up to touch the side of his cheek. She wasn't in her true form to nuzzle him, but... this was close enough for now.

Looking up at her from the ground, Maelthra tilted his head lightly and asked, "You did...?"
Feeling relieved with this, he smiled weakly before pausing as she touched the side of his cheek with her hand. It really felt nice to have that there, and he ended up lightly leaning into her touch while staring into her eyes rather deeply. His heart was pounding fairly hard in his chest, and it hadn't been from flying around for several hours straight.
It's that feeling again...
Closing his eyes lightly, he leaned into her touch more.

"I did.." Amuriel replied, smiling and nodding as she lightly caressed his face. She marveled at how soft his fur felt beneath her hand, but even more than that, she watched him lean into her touch. She stepped closer and trailed her hand down to his neck before leaning her cheek against his as she caressed him.
Once again, she didn't know what exactly she was feeling, but she was content. She felt happy and amazed that he seemed to be enjoying her touch as much as she, and she leaned into his cheek to nuzzle him gently in return now.

Smiling wider now, Maelthra continued to lean into her touch, enjoying it greatly. Staying put since she had stepped closer, he lightly nuzzled against her hand and face and opened his eyes in the process. He gazed deeper into her blue eyes while the feeling within grew stronger.
Is this... what they call love...? Could it be that...?
Aside from his speculation, he just knew that he felt very at peace, and that he felt a great deal of joy from deep within.

Amuriel buried her cheek against the side of his neck and laced her hands through his mane loosely, giving him a gentle hug as she nestled against him. It felt so amazing just to hold and touch him like this, and making her even happier was that he seemed to be enjoying it too.
Something within her made her feel whole and happy, warm and welcomed... what was it? They were her own emotions, but something felt like a reflection, the emotions she was feeling being mirrored back to her from Maelthra... could that be it? This moment of tenderness brought on because they shared the same emotion? But... what exactly was it? She couldn't wrap her mind around what it could be... unless it was love. Was it? It felt amazing, uplifting, and beautiful, if a physical word could be used to describe such a feeling. Even more, she wanted to speak with him about it, but she was afraid still. If it was love, but he did not share it.. what then..?

Maelthra let out a soft content sigh as he felt her against him. The longer they were like this, the stronger the feeling grew inside of him. And it was simply amazing to be going through it. So he nuzzled her for a little longer before lightly stepping back so that he could look directly into her eyes. He was almost certain of the feeling, but there wasn't full certainty there.
The dark elder took in a deep breath, not sure if he should say anything, but he decided to try and go through with it and hope that she had felt the same. If she didn't, he wasn't entirely sure how he would take it.
"Amuriel... you make me so happy to be around you... you put me at ease.. and make me feel at peace..." he started softly, "I... I think I love you..."

For a moment, Amuriel stood in shock. To think he could be feeling what she felt and to actually hear it were to completely different scenarios. To hear him... left her feeling elated, and she no longer questioned her own feelings.
She watched him for a moment, staring into his eyes, until she smiled. Her heart no longer resided in her throat as a motionless lump, but rather it was back in place, pounding fiercely in her chest. For a brief moment, it fluttered and she spoke, "I'm very happy to hear you say that Maelthra... because... I think I love you too..."

It seemed to be an eternity as Maelthra stood there, waiting for some sort of response from Amuriel. Did she feel the same? Or was it something else completely? But then it came.
As he heard what she had to say in return, the elder just felt the weight of the questions that burdened him be lifted in an instant. His heart felt very light, but full with joy as he took a moment or two to take in what she had just said, and to make sure that he hadn't just imagined her say it.
"That makes... me so happy to hear..."
Smiling widely, he softly nuzzled her while feeling as happy as he could possibly be right then and there.
"I never thought something like this would happen with me..."

Amuriel smiled and reached up to caress his face and cheeks, nuzzling her face against his gently. This feeling, she thought, was so amazing. To realize she loved him and to hear that he loved her as well. Like him, she couldn't believe this had happened to her, but...
"It has.." she replied, smiling and stepping forward until she could embrace him. "I do love you.."
Stepping back and nuzzling against him again, she thought of how much she did care for him. He had befriended her and helped her, and at sometime, that simple attraction she had felt before had grown into something else. She loved him.. the simple realization of that love and its return left her happier than she had been in her life.

"And I love you..."
Smiling, he nuzzles her gently as he said those words, feeling a great joy within him as he did so. And as she embraced him, he gently lifted up a paw to lightly wrap around her so that she could embrace her in return. Closing his eyes, he just thought on how happy he was and how grateful he was for meeting Amuriel.
"I'll never leave you... I want to stay with you forever..."

Smiling, Amuriel stepped a little further back and shifted forms carefully, shaking her fur lightly to rid herself of ice crystals before moving forward again and wrapping her neck around his in an embrace.
"We can stay here... this is our home... we made it together and we can live in it together. Maybe... as something more than just two lonely souls now.."
As she nuzzled her cheek against his mane gently, she thought of what would happen now. They had declared they loved one another, but.. what now..? She hoped they would be able to finish living their lives out together, more than roommates.. lovers..? The word had a strange sort of fit, and she wondered if it would be true.

Watching as she shifted to her true form, Maelthra stepped forth into her embrace so that he may do the same. Closing his eyes as he did so, he just smiled while nodding lightly and nuzzling her gently with his muzzle.
"I... I would like that... a lot..."
Sighing happily, he thought about how much Amuriel had changed his situation. Just some weeks ago, he was on his own, wandering restlessly and without a home or family or friend. It was quite a change, but it certainly was a good one. And there wasn't anything he would have wished was different.
"Would you...?" he asked while resting his head against hers.

"I would love to.." Amuriel replied, smiling wider and nuzzling against him gently. The thought of being able to spend her life with him brought her mood to an even higher level. She had not thought it possible to become happier than she had been, but she had, her mood rising far past elated and into some new sphere of positive emotion.
"I love you.." she whispered, her heart fluttering wildly and her tail swaying slowly from side to side. Even though her speech was quiet, she had spoken them as her heart had felt, and she had not uttered a truer line in her life.

With an even wider smile now, he leaned in against her as he felt elated to hear her answer. The thought of spending the rest of his life with her here was just a very very very good feeling for him, and he wouldn't want it to be any different.
"I love you too..."
Maelthra gently nuzzled her once more, feeling his heart pound with glee and pure bliss.
"I'm.. so glad that we met... that night..."

"I'm thankful I met you too..." Amuriel replied, smiling and stepping back to press her muzzle against his gently. "My life has changed because of you.. it's changed for the better.. and I'm not lonely anymore.."
She yawned lightly, thinking of everything she and Maelthra had done and said that day, and rubbed her cheek gently against his, "It's been a long, eventful, and beautiful day.. should we go to bed now.. ?"
