Adonai giggled and picked up his own pebble again, closing his fist tightly around it and tucking it under his arm to make it warm up more quickly.
"You 'tone biggah," he told her seriously, even though he was giggling, "you 'tone make moah wight."

"I'm starting to see," Cindy replied.
It wasn't quite there yet, but it was already beginning to glow. In the sunlight couldn't tell, but from where her fingers and hand were covering it, it was becoming light.

Adonai giggled and checked on his own stone. It was glowing, but only just a little bit. Still, he was happy with it.
"I's pretty!" he told Cindy, jumping to his feet. "Come! 'Et's s'ow Nana!" He bounced a bit and ran off towards the house again.

Cindy followed him back to the house so she would lose him or get lost. Though with the open area it would be hard to do so. However, more less likely things had occured.

Adonai pattered into the house shouting "Nana! Nana!"
He looked through the living room, then the kitchen, then all three of the bedrooms. Finally he came back to the living room, looking for Cindy again.
"Nana go?" he asked her perplexedly, blinking in confusion.

Cindy paused as he tried to look for his mother and then remembered, quite belately that Ulani said she would be behind the house if she ever needed the older woman.
"I think she said she would be behind the house."

Adonai blinked and stared at Cindy uncomprehendingly.
"'Hin' 'a house?" he repeated curiously, scratching at his forehead, which was smudged with dirt from his earlier fall.

Now it was Cindy's turn to gently take Adonai's hand and lead him to where she assmued was behind the house. She wasn't sure what Ulani might be doing there, but she said she would be there.

Ulani had finished with the dishes by now, and was just putting them back into the basket she always used to bring them back into the house when she saw Cindy leading Adonai out to her. Her first instinct was that something was wrong, and she stood slowly and faced them.
"Is everything all right?" she called out somewhat nervously as the two approached her.

"Adonai was looking for you," Cindy explained, "He wanted to show you the glowing stones that he got from under a base of a tree."
In fact she was still holding hers, and it was still somewhat glowing.

Adonai giggled and held up his pebble to show his mother, then pointed at the one Cindy was holding in her hands.
"Cinee wike 'a g'ow'tone!" he told his mother cheerfully. "Pretty 'tones!"
Ulani laughed, she couldn't help it. "I see," she smiled. "So that's where he hid them."
She explained to Cindy, "He and Aliya and I used to go hunting for these stones around the river when he was younger, when Ulrich was gone sometimes. We ended up with ... quite a collection of them, and they disappeared one day."
She smiled. "You should feel honoured, he usually doesn't share his things willingly."

Cindy giggled, "I tried telling him a story, I don't think it worked very well. Things are just so different between home and here."
Which she was sure was a large part of it, not withstanding that he that the angel girl was her. Cindy would never claim to be an angel.

"To be fair," Ulani smiled, kneeling down to pick up her son and then straightening again, "English is his third language, so difficulties and misunderstandings really do have to be expected. Don't feel pressured to entertain him, if you have something else you'd like to do just go right ahead. If you have questions, would like some help or anything, I'm always happy to help as well."

"Well.. I haven't really thought about what I would be doing," Cindy admitted.
She just had a rough idea what she would be doing, and she was use to having a lot of spare time, but it was a bit akward ot have spare time in a place that was not her home.

"Ah, well, do you have any ideas, in general?" Ulani asked with a smile. "Is there anything you'd like to see? You entioned something about education ... anything you'd like to know about?"
Really the possiblities were endless - there was so much in the area that even Ulani was stil learning about - such as the glowstones, which she had never seen before Aliya had found the first one six years previous. On top of that there were a multitude of plants and animals that were fascinating, or there were, if all else failed and they were completely bored, the regular chores.
