"Well" started Luca, "follow me if anyone's headed into the sewers, then." Just to show off, he took one of his .22's out of its holster and flipped it around cowboy-style as he sauntered toward the pipe opening nearby. Andina hurried behind him, revealing her own weapon - a sword blade broken into segments and fitted on a chain. How she could hide this was a mystery, but anyone who expected or knew she was Kindred could venture a guess it was Vampire magick.

Andrew struggled to climb out of the sewers, the ladder slick with grime and water. Above him was light, or what he thought of as light. He was panting by the time he felt solid ground under his feet, but he kept running, not bothering to check where he was. It was a park, and after that, it didn't matter. He just needed to run, to get away, escape what he had seen down below.

The smell had been horrible, decaying flesh and dried blood; he hadn't gotten a good look at the bodies but that didn't matter. They were still human. They were still...

He refused to think about it. He saw people standing around just ahead of him and ran towards them, his legs feeling like lead weights as he tried to reach them before he fell. He finally made it and collapsed against a tree, sliding down to the grass, his blonde hair falling into his face and hiding the blue-green eyes that tried to keep tears from falling.

He had never seen a dead body before. The only funeral he had ever been to had been closed-casket, three years ago when he had been nine. He was twelve now, and it was far too young to be stumbling on murdered bodies in the sewer after dark. He should have never snuck out of the apartment, but he couldn't sleep. It wasn't his fault he couldn't sleep and it had been so hot inside his room...

Nightingale saw the boy running towards them... She saw his pale face and the fear deep in his eyes.... Her motherly instincts told her that something was wrong. As the boy collapsed against the tree she caught him and wrapped him in her embrace instinctively.

"Hush now child... your safe. Tell me what's wrong. What is it that bothers you?", asked Nightingale as she gently stroke his hair to comfort him.

Andrew clung to the woman hugging him like she was the last solid thing in the world, hiding his face in her shoulder as he trembled.

"T-theres..." he paused, remembering the smell of blood that had hung thick in the air. "There's bodies in the sewer," he finally said, his voice a hushed whisper, fearful, his eyes wide in memory.

Andrew looked into her eyes, still clinging to her, "I'm scared," he said. The look in his eyes said he wanted to go home, and he wanted everything to be okay again. He wanted to forget what he had seen.

Nightingale continued stroking Andrew's hair to give a little comfort. She looked at Kryss and said,

"What do we do? We can't just leave him here. And those bodies in the sewers he's been talking about... Who could've done it?"

She looked at the boy clinging to her and felt pity for him. He must have been traumatized by what he have seen. This would hunt him forever...

He knelt beside Nightingale, just within arms-reach of the child and looked down at him sadly. He had to know what the boy had seen, but looking through another's memories, even fresh memories, could be painful, but it was his gift, or curse, just as the shadows were, and just as his second form was.

Blood, he smelled the blood over the stench of rotting garbage. Chunks of meat, was he below the butchers? He must be. Take another step forward, another. His foot hit something solid and he looked down into the lifeless eyes that looked through him. Blink, blink, he had to get out of here. He turned and ran, and ran, climbed the ladder and kept running.

Kryss jerked his hand back as though he had been burned. There was an art to entering another's mind without expiriencing their emotions, and it was not an art he had mastered. The boy, Andrew, was sobbing now, having also relived that memory.

He looked up at Nightingale, met her eyes and looked away in shame. It had not been necessary, what he had done, but his curiosity had to be sated. Slowly, hesitanty he reached for the boy's hair again, almost cringing when the boy flinched away from him.

Darkness, it was hot, maybe he would go out for a walk? Tip-toe, shh! Can't wake mom and dad...Fast forward to when he would be back asleep in bed. If it worked, he would never know he had been awake at all. Just another normal night.

After all the years he had lived, magic was something that had been taught to him, although most of what he recalled involved healing, but hopefully it had not been too long since he had done a compulsion spell. The boy could get home on his own if it worked, the shadows would protect him. He would go back home and sleep, shadows ensuring that none would notice his presence, or lack thereof.

It had been the demon's work...It was the demon who should have to endure the boy's pain and fear, not Kryss. It was the demon would should be responsible to getting the boy home safe and blocking his memory, not Kryss. But the memories were his now. The fear was his now.

He sighed. "The boy will be all right, mi'lady. Shadows are...truely wonderous things." He smiled reassuringly as the boy stood and headed home where he belonged. His eyes were blank like a necromacer's zombie, his mind thought it was sleeping, but his consciousness was not necessary. Only his memory and his body.

He looked up into the tree above him at the half-demon. "This is your hunt as well, is it not? I can help you find your way through the tunnels better than anyone else here, I think."

But what he wanted most to do was go home and sleep and pray to whatever god would listen that he could forget the boy's memories. The last the he wanted to do was go down there and see for himself what he had just witnessed, but he would do it because he had said he would, and he would not, could not break his word.

Nightingale looked through the whole ordeal... seeing the boy crying in her arms, she bacame worried.

From Kryss' reassurance Nightingale let out a breath and knew that everything would be alright now. She stood up and looked at Kryss and felt something. Was it caution? Anxiety? Or is it fear? She did not know...

All she knows is that something sinister is lurking in the sewers...

Leaping from the tree Zareb stared at the sewers, oh man...this is not going to be easy, walking over to Kryss he knelt down beside him. "So are you sure you can navigate through that?" he asked, immediately feeling stupid, of course he can navigate it, this is his city, but Zareb was just nervous he had never went after a demon this powerful. he stood once again and waited, staring into the dark damp sewers.

He stood beside Zareb, following his gaze to the tunnel that led underground. "My friend, I assure you that I can navigate through anything, especially my own sewer system." He smiled as he said it, confidence evident in his voice and stance. Getting lost was something he was very bad at. Almost anywhere he went, he could find his way around with little difficulty.

He started off towards the sewers then, glancing back to make sure he was being followed before climbing down the ladder. His boots were soaked to his calves by the time he reached the bottom.

He looked down at them in annoyance, "I shouldn't have worn these tonight. They're my best boots, too."

He sighed and sloshed his way down the tunnel, listening for those following.

Nightingale followed suit. She climbed down the ladder slowly not wanting to slipn her dress. As she reached the bottom her skirt was soaked but not so much.

Her eyes already accustomed to the dark scanned the sewers waiting to see if there was anything unusual or disturbing. She started following Kryss who was leading the way...

He heard the movements of those behind him and tuned them out so he could better focus on anything that wasn't right or didn't belong. He paid no heed to the squeaking of the rats or the dripping of water. He could smell fresh blood along with old blood heavy in the air and hoped that it did not belong to the coven he had encountered the previous night.

He paid no attention to his surroundings, focused as he was on scent and hearing. His memories, the boy's memories, guided his feet to where they needed to be. Soon he could feel a slight change in the water he walked through. He looked down and saw the taint of crimson, faint, but still there even in the darkness.

"I shall have to find a way to make it up to you for bringing you here, mi'lady," he said to Nightingale, his voice hushed though he could feel no presence but those of his companions.

"Fleshiesssss! In my lair! How did they........"

The demon submerged himself in the dark waters. The sewers stank of stinking rotten flesh, so gruesome and dirty that the monster blended in well with the surroundings. The companions eyes could not see him, for his scales were the same color as the filth about him.

The demon's slow, ticking breathing was the only thing that gave him away. It excited him, having this group in his lair. Soon, his collection would be filled. He slithered behind the last in the group, taking in lungfuls of the being's scent.
