^ All of which is funny, because there's no basis for any of it in Leroux. Not really. Erik was troubled, but not emo romance novel hero troubled.

And the Victorians had porn. Oh, what porn did they have. *dramatic gesture* Most of it involved lesbians and women of the theatre. Take that however you may. And you know that, lonely and repressed as he was, if there was porn to be had, Erik had it.

Andrew Lloyd Webber did his job in making Erik the ugliest emo this side of the millenia.

Huh. I can see that with how they had their social statuses and all. I just never thought they had porn. XD

And you know Erik had some. But I'm not quite sure he knew what to do with it.
Victorian lesbo porn...sign me up

How did I know you'd say that? XD

You know it's not that exciting when they're definition of porn was like exposed ankles...

Man in a powdered wig: Did you see her stepping up the stairs? I think I saw some skin! *le faint*

It's the Lesbo part that excites me.

Ah, yes... It's the fact that they're the exposed ankles of lesbians! *nods*
Actually, there was regular, good 'ol nakedness. And powdered wigs were like, way before Phantom.

Smutty literature was actually way more popular than pictures around that time. There was a quarterly magazine in England that was incredibly popular, wherein people would anonymously write in accounts of their latest hawt encounters. Of course, a lot of it turned out to be fictitious and written by women to boot.

And of course, since the invention of moving pictures there's been porn in that medium. Through the same catalogue you could order something like one of those Magic Picture Viewer kids toys and a few reels of footage of said victorian theatre lesbians taking a bath.

Thus ends my accounting of porn in the victorian era. Yah.
(And... xDD I must go and wash my brain before I start writing POTO/Death Machine crossovers involving Erik as a porn freak.)

Wow. Leave it to someone we thought as normal to have that much info on Ye Ol' Porn. XD

Kidding. That's actually fascinating considering they were such prudes most of the time. I wouldn't rummage Ebay in hopes of Erik's "stash" though. XD That would just be taking the fascination a little too far.

xD; There was a special on the History channel about the history of porn, and I happened to remember the bits that were relevant to Phantom.

It generally seems that the more repressed the society, the more naughty stuff was going on behind the scenes. It's all about the subtext.

But no, no shopping for Erik's porn. That'd just be creepy. Especially since he seems like the 'fluffy romance novel' type of person.

I need to get that channel. I miss all the good stuff.

And I see Erik reading those fluffy wuffy novellas. XD Or acting out his fantasies with sock puppets.

... come ON. He lived below an Opera House. Best he had were old socks!

Or writing out his fantasies and mailing them to an anthology under a penname?

And pfft... He was an artistic genius. I'll bet he could have pulled a Gerik and made real dolls.

That's true. Kinda scary, but true.

And don't burst my bubble. The mental image of Erik playing with dirty sock puppets and making kissy noises is funny.

Oh, fine.

But of course, there's the inevitable Spaceballs parody...

"No Erik, I didn't see you playing with your sockpuppets again."
"Good!"

I saw a comic on that once on DevArt. I forget who the artist was, though. Though, she used the dolls to be more accurate. XD
