4th edition is Fail
Me (And Van) only use 3.5 and pathfinder (And When I feel like it, I bust out the paperback 1st edition, but that's special)
@Koji, you know you would play if I got the books next time you visit. I would totally make Seika in DND

I haven't played 4th myself, but what I've heard about the changes from 3.5 displease me greatly...
Also they got rid of the monk class I hear, that was my favorite class... emo
I find pathfinder much better...

Haven't played Pathfinder (D&D 3.75) but the Star Wars: Saga Edition (D&D 3.9) is what 4th Edition should have been in my eyes. Nice, clean and streamlined. Not to say 4th is bad but it's quite a departure from the prior systems.

I know they revised it. I like a lot of the changes that they made, it emphesizes teamwork now instead of whoever rolls the highest. I think it's a fair system and alot of the stuff is rather interesting and well thought out IMO. Granted, I wouldn't turn down a 3.5 game if it was offered either. Each has it charms to me and its advantages and disadvantages like everything else.

I mainly don't like it because the game it WAY too easy.
3.5 was balanced, 50-50 in the player and DM'S favor, You could live, but if you do something stupid the Dm could off you fairly easy. While 4.0 makes it HARD for the DM to kill the player with things made for there level. (Meaning at level 5 your fighting things made for level 8's)
I prefer when its harder to stay alive then it is to die. Which is why I love when I use my First edition, you get WHOOPED. Sometimes there is no level 2
If i was stuck between 4.0 and nothing, I would still take 4.0 though 3nodding It's fun just not my cup of tea, I like being paranoid that the DM will try to kill my off in the next room without throwing something too crazy at me.

I always found that 3.5 got more unbalanced as you went up in level. Mages pretty much dominated while other classes stagnated. The ability that originally made me get into the monk class (quivering palm) was pretty much useless by the time I got it because anything and everything on my level could easily make the save. I remember the Tome of Battle: Book of 9 Swords gave warriors abilities that kicked spells a** at high levels, but you had to be a specific class to use them (Martial Adept classes, which there are 3 of) But all in all I remember at high levels in 3.5 my monk was decidedly useless, she was only actually useful because of a homebrew feat I was allowed to create (one I can't remember exactly now, but it turned me into a DBZ character where I was charging up massive ki blasts for like entire battles...)
Pathfinder was a bit more balanced with classes at higher levels, I believe. However that campaign ended before our levels got too high.
I've heard in 4th ed. pretty much all classes have magic or some kind of magic-like abilities... That I don't like...

They are the other side of the spectrum, if an ork looks at them funny they might keel over

It's a bit more that you have differing abilities that DO things each round instead of just saying "I hit it with my axe". Now you can use an ability and you hit with your axe AND you can push pull the target 1-2 squares as desired. Makes things a bit more tactical.

I play almost everything EXCEPT 4th Edition. Its a board game, if I wanted to play a board game I'd play Pokemon Monopoly. 3.5, Pathfinder, D20 Modern, Besm, GERPs, EVERYTHING is better than 4th. Barbarian and Bard-barian all the way.

Nah, 4th Ed is still better than old White Wolf Street Fighter. Though I still had a lot of fun times with my guy who nearly became a World Warrior before getting stuck down in a slime chute in the Amazon. (We never picked it back up after that.) cat_gonk The reliance upon miniatures and exact positioning in 4th was a little aggravating. Wizards needs to remember 90's TSR and their pewter figures. They don't sell that well. Luckily I still have most of the figures from my old Heroe's Quest game. I've been killing the same goblins for nigh on 26 years now. cat_rofl

Yeaaaah...I have no clue what you guys are yammering on about.
I've never played this DND you speak of. I was more of a Pokemon fan...
I mean..I've heard of the game, and even the mmorpg that game out, but I refuse to play it, 'cause of the stories my sis tells' me about it.
Like that time she made a Pixie named Snaffle....who touched people and made them dance for hours, then polymorphed a dragon into a bunny and used it as a mount. Of course the dragon was dead...but she revived it. xd

My friends have stories about a dragon named Biscuits (that was quite low on the Int score, if you catch my meaning) whose claws leaked butter...
