wee clarinet
blaugh this is my first year ehhe
sweatdrop but our BD let me into the adv class because my other periods were booked. i'm still learning. i know a firm embouchure comes with time but if anyone has any tips on how i can um work on it i guess help would be great
xd first, let me start by saying that you are awesome for wanting to learn the clarinet!
biggrin it is honestly the most amazing instrument there is, because it has amazing range and when played well it sounds so beautiful and haunting. anyways ... yes embouchure is like the hardest thing about playing the clarinet. and you will hear some people say that biting down harder on the mouthpiece helps, and while this is true, it's unpractical, because it hurts and can leave teeth marks on your mouthpiece. if you're having trouble, i find it helpful to put more mouthpiece in your mouth to help with your tone, and i also found that if you tuck your bottom lip under more you can keep a more even tone. but don't over-do it, or you'll give yourself mouthsores. i've done it, and it's not pleasant.
sweatdrop if you feel like you need a better tone, try opening the back of your throat more, and putting more air into the instrument. if you keep at it, you'll get killer lung support. anyways, i've rambled, but i love playing the clarinet, and it's so awesome that you're learning. if you have any other questions, i'm here to help, and i'm pretty sure everyone else here is, too. good luck!
