Teagan sighed, sitting on the sidelines. X-2 had lost, but it was only a game. Yeah, it was just a fun little volleyball game. She thought, taking a sip of water.
She stood up, walking over to the other game to see how the X-1 team was fairing against the Brotherhood team.

As Jacen slept for a tiny bit, he smiled faintly. It was kind of odd, yet comforting to have someone there that was selfless enough to take care of him while he was injured. Not that people hadn't done that before, but of course, he was never involved with his previous caretakers.
His nap was rather listless and there was no dreaming whatsoever. Just empty blackness. There wasn't even a visit from Emma this time. Almost as soon as he thought that as he slept, he woke up to see Penance still sitting there with his head on her lap.
"Hey hon," Jacen said weakly, sleep still pervading his eyes and voice.
"That wasn't too long of a nap."
"Yea, well....it's hard to stay sleeping when your in the company of such a lovely young lady as yourself," Jacen said with a smile. She kept running her fingers through his hair, keeping him rather relaxed. "Thank you again, for your help, sweetheart."
"Don't mention it," she said as she leaned down and gave him a kiss. It seemed they were probably going to be patching each other up alot, especially if their relationship lasted awhile. Rather, she'd be patching him up alot. It must be nice to throw oneself into battle and not have to worry about too heavy of damage....
"Anyways....how's Regina doing?," Jacen asked as he noticed Penance staring out the window.

Jamie called a timeout, and looked at the group. "Alright, whoever wants to go out should go out now." He said, before taking a spot on the court. He looked at the Brotherhood team for a moment, and one of them served the ball. He saw someone bump it, and then someone set it to him, so he jumped up for the spike.
When his hand made contact with the ball, he made it look like the ball dissapeared, and a volley of various identical balls came flying onto the brotherhood side of the court. He saw Pietro moving around and trying to hit each and every one, but sinse the real ball was invisible, it plopped onto the sand. "Alright, it's our serve!" Jamie said, before backing up to his spot.

Danielle didn't do anything when her team was up, and she was kind of happy about that because her mind was still focused on that Marvin thing. She desided to stay and watch Jamie's team play. Hopefully they will win.

"She's pretending she's not upset," She watched how Regina was walking. Penny couldn't read her face from the height they were at but she could read her movements, "She's slouching her shoulders, probably doesn't realize she's doing it. That's what she does when she has her game face on and is worried about something. I'm sure she doesn't trust everything is going to be alright with Freya."
"Would you blame her?" He asked and adjusted his shoulder.
"No, none of us know Freya that well... and well, Jonothan is really her real first relationship. I wouldn't blame her for having any seeds of worry or doubt or jealousy. I'm sure it will be fine though, what's the worst that can happen?" She stopped running her fingers through his hair and put her arm acrossed his chest, "The pain killers helping?"
He nodded that they were and had a bit of levity in his voice, "What about you if it were me in his place?"
She laughed a bit and thought about the answer, "I'd like to think I wouldn't be jealous, but I might be a bit territorial... especially if they had you wearing nothing but a beach towel doing their bidding. Worried? No, I trust you."
"Why?" He asked and it was actually a very good question. As unlikely of a pair they were, the question was valid. They first met as enemies, went to prom on a whim, and then almost killed each other in a mad scientists vision of the apocalypse on mutants.
"Because you have honor," She answered without thinking about it, "It was the first thing that struck me last fall when we fought. Eventhough we stood on opposite sides, you fought with honor. I only know of one other person like that and he taught me everything I know about fighting and is one of the very few people I truely would trust in the world. I wouldn't have trusted you with my life back then, but I trusted you to be fair in battle."
"Evie," He started to say something but she covered up his mouth so she could finish.
"I know we don't share the same views on everything especially human and mutant relations. I know that someday we may stand across from each other again in battle. But I trust that if and when that ever happens, that we fight with honor. I knew that was a possible reality since I first realized that I care about you. Sorry, tangent, but I thought that needed out there in the open."
"Are you done now?" He asked and picked up her hand that was on his chest and kissed it, "Go out and be with your friend. You've more than answered my question."
She smiled and slid off the bed towards the door, "I do that sometimes. Get some rest, you look like you need it."
Penny closed the door and took a deep breath outside. SHe really didn't want to leave but Regina needed her even if she never vocalized it.

Gen sat next to Teagan. "We lost. They should have called you in more often, I was getting tired out there."
Regina watched from her spot with Penny. She was really worried bout Porter and Freya... but she had assured the Xmen that nothing sexual would happen. Why was she worreid about that anyways?! She closed her eyes and tried not to imagine that kind of thing, since they had really just begun dating why was she so concerned with the future? Because she felt the sense of possessiveness toward him now, that's why...

"Clever, you little punk," Pietro said as Jamie set up to serve back to them. This time, Pietro decided to do his own variation of the multiple ball return. He smacked the ball back at lightning speed, before breaking the third sound barrier, becoming too fast to be seen. He grabbed several more of the X-Men personalized volleyballs, and fired them over the net as well. Before X-1 knew what hit them, thirty balls were raining down upon them, most of them (including the ball in play) hitting the ground.
"Oh looky, it's our ball again," Pietro said with a chuckle as he reserved the ball, smacking it once again at mach speeds.
Brotherhood 23, X-1 19.

Jamie frowned at Pietro for a moment, then broke into a grin. "That was a nice move." He said quietly, and he got ready for the next serve. When someone served the ball, Jamie made Nightcrawler turn invisible, and then Jamie bumped the ball over to Morgan, who set it to Blair. Blair spiked the ball over the net, and there was a loud *BAMF* as Kurt dissapeared. Pietro charged over to the ball, standing still with his cocky stance, and he was about to bump the ball, when there was another *BAMF* and the ball dissapeared, and re-appeared behind Pietro, plopping onto the sand. There was a final *BAMF* and Jamie let go of his control of the light, letting Kurt appear again.
Soon after a little X-1 breakout, Jamie stood still panting, the score tied at 25, with the Brotherhood preparing to serve.
OOC: Sorry if that scores too even, but I wanted to keep us in this a bit. At least that way if we lose, it will be heartbreaking.

OOC: Dammit Jamie! Stop being so clever with your powers!
IC: Pietro growled as the X-Losers had actually managed to make things close. It didn't help that Pyro was taking ******** to fulfill his end of the deal. "ANY TIME NOW JOHN!" he shouted at the still hung-over Pyro, who was struggling to keep standing let alone return a volleyball. "At LEAST light one of them on fire or something!"
Pietro served the ball, but ran fast enough to catch up to it again before it even had a chance to clear the net. He jumped up and spiked the already fast-moving ball, slamming it even faster than he'd been able to before. Not only did it shoot almost too fast to see, but Pietro got the added pleasure of seeing it pop Kurt right in the face.
"Son of a vucking b***h!" they all heard the poor German elf cry as he went flying across the sand.
26-25, in favor of the Brotherhood.

Penny and Regina sat a bit off from most of the crown watching the game. She took a backward glance up at the beach house windows and then focused her attention Regina, "Talk to me, Reg."
Regina blinked out of her thoughts and focused on Penny. "About what...?" she asked offhandedly.
"The fact that I know you're exceedingly distraught over this and aren't sharing it," Penny drank the last of the the water from her bottle.
Regina stayed quiet for a moment, trying to work her thoughts out. "I'm... worried. I know what Freya said but at the same time, I'm scared of what hse might want from him."
"He's gone through so much trouble for you already," Penny put her hand on Regina's shoulder to try to reassure her, "I doubt he'd allow anything to happen that would hurt you..."
"Some trust you've got there." Regina commented with a small grin. "What would you do if he did hurt me...?"
She smiled and seriously thought about that for a second, "For starters, he'd be walking home from here. Secondly, I seriously probably would kick his a**."
"I figured that was going to be you're answer." Regina said with a small laugh. "I don't know why I'm so worried about this. I worry about you at times but this is... different."
"Me? Don't waste your worries on me. And of course this is different. How well do we really know Freya? I mean, I guess you know Porter better than most of us now..."
"I'm getting there. We need more talk time. Yesterday was the first chance we had to just talk." Regina looked back at Freya again, wondering what she was plotting. "And I worry about you because you're my friend."
"I know, Reg. I know," She started to play with the sand in front of them letting it slide through her fingers, "But let's stop worrying about things and enjoy it as it comes along. Maybe hard decisions will be coming along. Maybe not. Who can really know?"
"True..." she sighed and watched the game. "You think this will last...? Me and Porter I mean."
"I may be a lot of things, but a fortune teller, I'm not," She smiled and watched the game becoming really imprssed with Jamie's power development, "It will last as long as it's supposed to. I think you both are suited for each other... just don't let him push you furthur than you're ready to go."
"He told me he wouldn't, and then told me not to let him." Regina laughed. "I don't think I would. You both know how stubborn I am to my own wishes."
"Well, I also know how sometimes you go along for the ride too," She teased, "I'm sure things will be fine. 24 hours is a short time."
Regina nodded. "You're right, but I go along for the ride if I feel okay about it. And so far, it's been safe."
Penny just shook her head, "And if you think about that sentance long enough you'll realize that we should turn away from this topic."
Regina laughed and flicked a bit of sand at Penny. "You've got a dirty mind you know."
"Oh, if you only knew how far it went," she returned the flick of sand, "I'll tell you what, though, Reg... Just being around Jacen drives me mad... in a good way. Nobody gets under my skin like that... well, except Scott... but I try to forget that relationship ever happened."
"He's a bad idea. Scott I mean, not jacen." Regina nodded. "Scott is too... jealous. Though you'll probably deal with that from Jacen too. Anyways, yeah... I feel the same about Jonothan but I've never done this before so I'm not sure how to react."
"Scott's problem was that he was trying to make Jean jealous and me being 16 at the time didn't see that coming a mile away... but anyway... Just react how you feel you should. There's no right or wrong way."
"Easier said than done but I'll keep that in mind... You'll be my guide on this little adventure." Regina teased.
She laughed, "Only if I get a blindfold and ear plugs by the way you're making it sound."
"Heyyyyy" Regina pushed Penny playfully, blushing. "Stop it already. Where do you come up with these ideas??"
"It's just fun to see how quickly I can make you blush," She smiled and rubbed her shoulder, "I just do that to get a rise from ya."
"You and freya both man, I can't win!" Regina grinned. "You're right, I have nothing to worry about..." But she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling. It was new to her in any case.
Penny put her arm around Regina's shoulders, "Don't worry, Reg, I'd have the same feeling in my stomach too."
"Er... that wasn't... but..." She finally gave up and sighed. "I need to stop thinking about it. Just a day. Only one day. I guess Jacen will be glad for the privacy for at least one night."
"Come on, let's get a drink. It will help ease your spirits," She stood up and brushed the sand off her shorts.
"Sure. Anything sounds good at this point." Regina stood as well, watching the other teams play.

Jacen lay there on his bed, his covers hardly doing so. He had a rather pleasant look on his face, considering he was lying awake in bed. Granted, the painkillers were making him drowsy, but his mind was moving at a rather rapid pace. He had a whole sworl of thoughts and ponderings running in his head. Unexpectedly, Penance didn't beat around the bush when it came to the questions he had for her, and that honestly startled him.
"Honor....," Jacen said, realizing that maybe, somehow, this was his fate. Truthfully, he hadn't fought anyone that would be considering his exact equal. He'd fought a few that had completely overwhelmed him, and thrashed him soundly, but no one that could go blow for blow with him. And, something earlier that Evelyn said piqued his interest. Something about running a Danger Room simulation together? Was she already planning for his stay at the Institute?
"...........," Jacen's smile turned to a frown. He had noticed alot of the students of Xavier were becoming a bit more.....comfortable to his presence. Almost as if they were welcoming him to the fold.
"...That's....not going to happen," Jacen said quietly to himself before he remembered that conversation he had with Porter. He honestly didn't want to break Evelyn's heart, but he knew that he'd have a long way to go before Xavier would open his arm's to the enemy, former or not. And Jacen also mulled another of his options. Emma's little school. It was in his old hometown, but...what would she have him do? He felt he was beyond any one person's control anymore. Since willfully leaving Magneto's fold, he did have issues at first, but as of late, he had been relaxing and actually accepting the fact that he was now free.
The more that he thought about what he should do, the more he realized something. He actually was missing Evelyn's company. And the more he realized that, the more confused he became. Here was a young man who for the most part had done well enough not to get attached to anyone.....yet in the span of his time back on the planet, he had found out he had a surviving relative plus wound up in a relationship. Not that he had time to get to know her at all, other than she was a mutant, and at the time, she was his enemy. And the more he thought about that, something that Evelyn said, he couldn't remember when though, rang through. "Your sister, Anna, disappeared," he heard her voice echoing through his ears.
Jacen thought about hitting the road. He didn't feel he could fit in, let alone stay at the Institute. He knew that'd crush Evelyn too. Granted, he could get a place of his own somewhere in town, but he wasn't on retainer anymore. He'd have to go through his underhanded means again, and honestly, since meeting Evelyn, he'd made an unconcious decision to play it on the straight and narrow. And Emma, he remembered what she said to him. That she put a link up between them. He had a feeling as to why she did too. She'd want to control him, not unlike Ahab. And maybe, just maybe, he should put forth an effort to find his sister....and possibly get some answers to his past. He was confused, that was for sure, and he almost had his mind made up, but there was still something bothering him.
"Screw this," he said as he slipped on a stray pair of his running pants, just loose enough on his injured leg. The painkillers were working well on him, but he knew where he was gonna be heading to, he'd need a few more just incase the ones in his system wore off. Slowly, almost methodically, Jacen lurched, stumbled, and nearly fell down the stairs as he noticed the television on rather loudly. Curiously, he looked into the family room of the house and saw the same blonde sitting there watching a program.
"Um...," Jacen asked rather sheepishly. He remembered their initial exchange, "Miss...have you happened to see Evelyn anywhere?"

Kim's blue eyes flashed directly into Jacen's own for a mere moment. Then, unmoving, Kim replied flatly. "The last time I saw Miss Chayse, was with you."
She owed him no favours, and wasn't about to give him any. But what she had answered, she'd done so truthfully. She'd neither heard, seen, nor paid any attention to anything outside the confines of the TV screen in front of her since she got home. She had a lot of bottled up aggression that was dying to be released in the form of a brain-crippling confusion blast. The only thing holding her back was the fact that he'd asked somewhat politely.
As he stood there, looking a little unsure of how best to handle her response, she became all too aware of her rather showy clothing. A change would be in order, this was beach-wear, not lie-in-front-of-the-tv-wear.
She stood up lethargically, straightened her top and began walking away without looking back at him. She could feel him there, or at least his aura, and it was niggling into her head. She paused and turned her head back to him and looked him up and down briefly. Then she turned around, scrutinizing him, taking in his emotion and feeling the kickback from this weird aura he presented.
"Cut that out, it's very distracting." she said rather plainly.
He looked genuinely confused for a moment, then seemed to understand, saying with a grin. "Would that I could."
With fixed eyes, Kim replied. "You can, and will." At this point, she bombarded Jacen's head with endorphins and happiness. When his face changed, she looked satisfied with the job. "Nothing like a mental makeover. Feel better now?"
Just because she felt so generous, even though her attitude didn't denote such an attribute, she decided to let him finish the conversation. "Anything else? Or were you done?"

"Alcohol always makes the soul feel better," Penny said to Regina and opened the sliding glass door into the kitchen and led her friend in. She glanced up the back stairwell and wondered if Jacen was resting. Despite what her mind kept wanting to tell her, she still wanted to be near him. It was somewhat intoxicating. Logic kept trying to reason with her though telling her that things weren't always going to be the beach. There was a reality to go back to.
"Hmm," She thought aloud looking in the refridgerator and grabbed two bottles from the back, "We can start you off with the girly drinks."
"I should take offense to that but I don't think I will," Regina joked and caught the bottle of Smirnoff Ice that Penny tossed her.
She grabbed two more bottles from the refridgerator recognizing the voices in the living room, a beer and a bottle of something else that she doesn't particularly drink but knew Kim did. She yelled into the living room, "Catch. You both sound like you need one."
She tossed a bottle to Jacen and a bottle to Kim. Penny jumped up onto the counter to sit and opened her Smirnoff and drank it quick enough to give her a remote buzz. It would be gone soon. Damn stupid healing mutant powers. Sometimes she wished she could turn them off. Sometimes she wished she could turn them around to help other people instead of herself. Sometimes she wished she didn't go off into tangents in her head.
"Feel better yet, Reg?" She asked and threw her empty bottle in the trash across the room, "Huh, if only volly ball was that easy."
"Not really, but at least that tastes good," She answered and watched Penny put her hand in the refridgerator to find something random, "You're going to make yourself sick."
"Nope, hopefully somewhat tipsy. Beach isn't fun without being totally drunk at least once... You know, I saw a flyer for a beach party on Friday night. We all should go."
