Kilik hung onto every word the professor said as if it were the last words he'd hear in his life. He watched the slides go back, gasping when he saw that land shark. "Incredible!" he laughed, letting out a whistle. When he saw the three Pokemon on one slide, he gasped. Those were the same Pokemon from that flier, he thought. Quickly, Kilik stood up. "Professor!" he called out, "What are the names of the three depicted on that slide?" he pointed at the screen, "Especially that Fire-type." For some reason, that little orange monkey called out to him like no other Pokemon had before (besides Cable, that is). His hands landed on the chair in front of him, his fingers tensing. What was he so excited for? The chance to go to a new region, to fight new Gym Leaders, to capture new Pokemon...the entire idea hit him like a ton of bricks.
When Kilik stood up so suddenly, the plug nearly fell off his trainer's back. Cable clambered for something to grab on to, but since he wasn't wearing a shirt, there was only one thing he could go for: his hair. With a snag, Elekid pulled himself up using his trainer's hair (who had let out a slight yelp of pain) and simmered down. He stared at the three Pokemon on the screen as well, intrigued by their appearance.
----***----
Giovanni's eyes darted around each screen. With each new slide that he showed, his smirk grew wider and wider. These new Pokemon looked powerful, very powerful, and he knew that he had to get them under his control. Especially that land shark. Yes, with a Pokemon that powerful, he'd be nearly unstoppable...of course, he already was. "Capturing those Pokemon will surly prove vital to my plans," he laughed, "And I'll truly be able to topple whatever gets in my way." The flight attended refilled his glass with water, and he took a long gulp of it, keeping his eyes locked on the screen. According to the camera below, they were now flying over Goldenrod City - a beautiful town to be sure, and one that filled Giovanni with memories. He sighed heavily.
"Mai, come in. Mai," he said sharply, "Are you in position? My surveillance tells me that all the Grunts are almost ready. As soon as I give you the signal...show them no mercy."

Riza really wouldn't have known anything about strange new moves or anything like that, as her Pokemon hadn't exhibited anything that her Pokedex couldn't tell her. Sure, the region sounded interesting but Riza figured that tons of people would be flocking there already, and she didn't want to be part of a crazy trend or fad. 'I'll go to Sinnoh when I feel like it,' she thought, eying the strange Pokemon in the slides one by one.
When the professor asked for questions and there was a lull in the professor's speech, Riza turned back to the cute blonde guy. "Riza," she said simply, holding out her hand for Crenu to shake. "So did you really come out all this way just to hear some old guy blabber on about the new region and stuff or are you actually here for a reason?" she asked. He didn't seem to be the beach-type, and Riza was quite curious. * * * * * Her Pokemon were returned to her quite promptly and Katie thanked the nurse before tucking the two poke balls into their proper pockets. Again the crowd parted as she took her leave and she smiled at this. Being the daughter of a super-famous fashion designer certainly had its perks. Katie stepped back outside and had a look around. It seemed like a good time to head out again, though on her way out of town she stopped at the grocery store and picked up enough supplies to last her and her two Pokemon until tomorrow morning, at the very least. 'Shouldn't take that long to get to Oreburgh," she thought.
She started along the path that lead east of Jubilife, once again surprised at just how quickly the sounds of the busy city were left behind her. Nature spread out all around her and Katie sighed deeply. As much as she loved working with her mother and all the others in the studio, she felt incredibly happy to be out here enjoying the day. 'I hope mom's fall line is coming along well,' she thought, knowing that she'd left just before a very busy time of year for Lena and the others. But, then again, Katie knew that if she were inspired by some of these naturey colours she could always send her mom a sketch or something like that. 'Never will get away from the work entirely,' Katie thought with a smile.

Mai and Leo had taken up seats in the front row as well, having arrived plenty early. Not only did this put them in excellent position to begin their operation, but they also were able to pick out each of the meddling kids in the crowd as they sat down. Mai was feeling particularly good about this, and a slight smirk curled the corners of her mouth as Professor Rowan took the stage. He began to speak, though it was nothing that Mai hadn't already expected him to say. New region, new gyms, new Pokemon, yaddy, yaddy, yadda. However, when the slide show started, Mai's brow furrowed slightly. The Pokemon were very intriguing, as she'd expected them to be, but this was not what she'd expected.
The noise level picked up when the professor allowed questions, which gave Mai an opportunity to respond quickly to Giovanni's voice over the radio. "We are, Sir," she said curtly, though respectfully. "Waiting on you, Sir."
Leo looked over at Mai as she spoke quietly into her communicator, and had a quick glance around. He could pick out several Rockets even from where he was sitting, and that thought was reassuring. They vastly outnumbered those children now, and he was sure the majority of the crowd would run once the attack commenced.
=-=-=-=-= "So far so good," Ann murmured to herself from somewhere backstage, looking out at the podium as the professor went on with his speech. She could sense the excitement from the crowd as he started to discuss the new Pokemon and she couldn't help but smile. So enthusiastic, she thought, pulling back the curtain ever so slightly to glance out at the people who'd gathered to listen to Rowan's words. Aside from the excitement given off by the crowd, Ann also felt a certain degree of tension and anxiety, though that might have been leftover uneasiness from the damned Ferris Wheel. She let the curtain fall back into place and leaned up against a support pillar, arms crossed. She had no idea where Ampersand had gotten to, though she knew him well enough to know that he had orders of his own and he was probably tending to them just now. She closed her eyes and tapped her fingers gently against her elbow. She didn't know exactly what to expect, but she knew it wouldn't be good.

Serenity listened closely as the professor talked. The pokemon he was showing on the slides were amazing. The one that looked like a lion really struck her, and she couldn't wait to get over to the new region and get one. Even George, who was still sitting in her lap seemed to be excited by the things that the professor was saying. 'Surely this new region would be an excelent place for me to prove myself.' Sere thought.
All the excitment about the new pokemon had pushed any sense of shiness out of Sere's head. The people around her now were mearly just ghosts to her, soon she would be able to go to this new region and all of her ambition would be released. For now she was the weak trainer, but she had faith that the pokemon she raised would be able to handle the gym's she went up against.
She looked around, and took note of the boy that Riza was talkign to. He too seemed interested in what the professor had to say about the gym's and the new trainers that would be waiting. Sere thought about speaking up to ask him about it, but her voice still wasn't able to catch up to the rest of her. 'Ah well. A few more days of anxiety then.' She giggled to herself. For the first time in her life she was finding that she didn't care what others thought of her.
As Sere's eyes scanned the crowd she got the eery feeling that she was being watched. Or perhaps that the crowd it's self was being watched.

Keegan glanced up at the screen at the mention of the new Pokemon, not really interested in any of them though he did like the look of the so-called land shark. When the last three Pokemon were shown he nodded slowly, somehow reminded of the trio of starters that were offered by the professors of other regions to starting trainers. Naturally he had a look at the fire type first, but he didn't find it to be as appealing as the others of the same type. It was cute enough, but he just couldn't see himself raising one. He raised an eyebrow as Kasiya pointed out the penguin and he gave her a playful nudge. "Since when are you a fan of water type Pokemon?" he whispered, remembering well that she'd spent a lot of her childhood surrounded by electric types. He didn't dwell on it, though, as suddenly Kasiya's hand was in the air and she was waving it around all excitedly.
Figures, he thought, rolling his eyes a little. Her insatiable curiosity was one of the things he loved about her, though he couldn't help but silently wish she wouldn't do anything to embarrass him. ===== Morty narrowed his eyes when he saw the Starshape Pokemon get recalled, and he sighed, wishing he could change the rule so that neither trainer could switch out their Pokemon. It was true that switching out would remove the Curse status, but Morty let it go for now, knowing he had many more tricks up his sleeve. The Leech Seed from the Bulbasaur seemed to vanish into his Misdreavus, and even she didn't seem to know what had happened. "Misdreavus, now use Psybeam," the Gym Leader commanded, his voice firm and unwavering.
Once again, the pearls around Misdreavus' neck began to glow brightly and she let out a screech before a bright beam of psychic energy was fired forward at the grass type.
"Lily, look out!" Miharu shouted, though she wasn't sure her Bulbasaur possessed the agility to do so. Lily cried out fearfully and tried to jump out of the way but the beam slammed into her side, causing her to stagger. Miharu bit her lip, praying that confusion didn't strike. The Bulbasaur shook it off and growled, still very much ready to continue fighting. "Fight back with Sleep Powder," the girl commanded, pointing at the Misdreavus.
"Bulbaa!" cried the sassy little Bulbasaur before she dashed forward, pivoting on her front legs and pointing her bulb at the ghost. She sent out a cloud of shimmering, blue powder into the air, and both she and Miharu watched it rain down on the battlefield.

"Riza..." Crenu said as he took her hand. He hesitated for a moment once he had it, which was odd for him. Even though he had already come to terms with his observations, a part of his mind seemed like it wouldn't drop the fact that she really was quite pretty. "It's a pleasure." As usual Crenu's voice was calm and he didn't crack a smile, or anything else for that matter, though he felt as though he should have. "It would appear that you've read my rather well, I'm impressed. I didn't come for fun in the sun or for this windbag's speech, clearly." He said with a little smirk at the end as he looked back at the stage before returning his attention back to Riza. "Truth be told, I only came for the battles. Figured that a decent number of tough trainers would gather for this thing and decided to get in on some of the action before heading back to Johto...which I assume you're from?" He said with a cocked eyebrow not really sure what her response would be. "You haven't reacted to the drop in temperature like most of the others, and excluding Sinnoh which I know nothing about, Johto is generally the colder of the regions. But this is just an assumption based on a single observation and a gut feeling. Am I mistaken?"

Riza nodded along at Crenu's explanation. It made perfect sense to come to an even such as this if you were looking for trainers to battle. Though she hadn't battled at all today (well except for with Ralts but that didn't really count) she'd seen no shortage of strong trainers. Again in her mind she saw the strong Typhlosion and Ursaring battling it out and she closed her eyes, very much wanting to be on par with trainers like that someday. "Good guess," she said, nodding. "From about as far north as you can get. I'm from Blackthorne City." She was quite impressed by his observation skills, and he was probably one of the most intriguing people she'd met all day. He seemed cold and distant, and he hadn't really smiled or shown any expressions at all, but aside from having the emotional range of a potato, she rather liked him. "What about you?" she asked, tucking a few strands of her long black hair behind an ear. "I'm assuming you're from Johto as well?" * * * * * Katie made it pretty far along her new path without incident, though she did witness a few battles along the way as she walked. They hadn't been very big or overly exciting, but they did make Katie want to get into a few more battles herself. 'We're going to need the experience,' she thought, well aware of the challenge that the gyms posed. Katie stopped walking and took out the Pokeball that held her new Starly and she enlarged it before throwing it into the air. The tawny bird appeared in the sky overhead with little gold sparkles all around her, and she chirped loudly when she saw Katie below.
Katie held out her arm and the Starly fluttered down and landed on it, looking at her new trainer curiously. "Nice to meet you, Noa," Katie said, scratching the little bird under the chin. "I bet you and I are going to be great friends." Noa seemed to ponder the idea for a moment, and she nodded. The bird hopped up her trainer's arm until she was perched on Katie's shoulder. Katie rather enjoyed the bonding time with her newest Pokemon, and together the two of them continued to walk.

Rowan looked around the audience and spotted several people raising there hands up in the air. One though really caught his attention, that might be because he had leapt out of his seat. He chuckled under his awesome mustache before pointing out to an excited boy, a blonde girl with a green headband. "Ah yes the one that looks like a monkey that is on fire? That is the three pokemon you can start with if you so chose, it's name is Chimchar." ~~~~~~~~ Robin looked at the slides that were shown and couldn't help but feel excited. She hadn't had any of her pokemon use any new moves or anything but she was sure that her pokemon would get something from this. She wasn't sure what, since nothing else had ever really happened with any Aipom, Yanma or Hoppip but for some reason she had a feeling they would be special. While none of the pokemon on the slides really excited or peaked her interest she still would love to see them in battle. Besides the last ones were really cute.
On her lap now Luffy watched the slides go by and he felt himself grow really determined. All of these pokemon looked really strong and he knew that if they were going to this place he would need to be stronger. As he looked up over them he knew that he would have to be much stronger in order to protect his Nakama. He was determined to do so to, no matter what it took!

Mike felt himself subconsciously straighten his posture as the old man approached the stage. He wasn't sure why, but this Rowan man had a unique aura to him, one that commanded respect. He was certainly different from old goofy Oak, twiggy Elm and chubby Birch. This man looked like he could wrestle a Tauros into submission then skin and grill it on the spot. He was particularly impressed with the mans rugged sideburns.
But as the slide show continued, Mike's initial grin slowly began to fade. Each slide proved to be more disappointing than the last. Where were all the fire Pokemon? Sure, there was one, but it was just a stupid looking monkey. "Um, excuse me Professor." Mike interjected, a hint of annoyance in his voice. "I hate to interrupt, but could you please tell me just how many new fire Pokemon exist in this Sinnoh region? They're kind of my specialty so it's really important."

"Ecruteak, also up in the north." He said, finally deciding to crack a smile. Partially because he had guessed right, and partially because he was starting to like this intriguing girl. He'd never been to Blackthorn City, the farthest in that direction he'd ever been to was the Lake of Rage. It had been when he was a young boy, he'd gone with his father to observe the Gyarados. Even though they only saw Magikarp from the shore, it was still a pretty fun day. He couldn't remember another day like that, not even anything close. As a latent fury began to build up inside him Crenu clenched his fists and calmed himself down, continuing the conversation and hoping she hadn't noticed. "You don't quite strike me as a fan of crowds either, what's your reason for coming out to this event?" Crenu put his hands back in his pockets, having completely forgotten the reason he'd come over to Riza in the first place.

"Ecruteak," Riza repeated, nodding. She vaguely remembered her older brother mentioning the place once or twice, and she was kind of sure that it had a gym or something important like that. It didn't bother her that she didn't know for sure, as someday she'd visit Ecruteak City for herself. "Well, I'm actually here for the party," she said, shrugging. "My older brother convinced me to come. Well, not so much as convinced as tricked me to get on board a stupid ship. I've only been away from home for about a week and a half, and I didn't know there'd be anything like this going on," she added, feeling a little sheepish about admitting to the fact that she was a newbie trainer. 'Damn it'll feel good when I never have to say that again,' she thought bitterly, looking away from Crenu for a moment.
Ralts had been watching the interaction between her trainer and this Crenu fellow, and for the most part she didn't seem to be bothered by him at all. However, even though Riza didn't notice the subtle anger Crenu suddenly felt, the empathic Ralts certainly did, though she was more curious than afraid. The little psychic closed her eyes and suddenly vanished from her spot, reappearing a second or so later on Crenu's shoulder. She made a soft cooing nose and patted the boy on the head before bringing her hands to her mouth and giggling again. "Hey I said no teleporting," Riza said, waggling her finger at the psychic. Ralts just giggled and waved her hand back in a mimicking manner. * * * * * After checking her map once just to be doubly sure she was heading in the right direction, Katie headed towards her next destination, which was the Oreburgh Gate. Noa had taken to flying a ways ahead, though she was sure to keep her orange haired trainer in her sights. Very soon Katie saw the looming wall of Oreburgh Gate rising up in front of her, and she was a little surprised to see quite a few trainers in the area. A few of them were battling and some were just chatting. However, as Katie approached the area all eyes in the area turned in her direction.
'Whoa,' Katie thought, her pace slowing right down. Noa flew down and landed on her shoulder, wondering why Katie had stopped. "Star-lee?" she asked, tilting her head.
"I really couldn't tell you," Katie answered with a slight shrug, looking around at all the trainers. She folded her arms and continued walking, still wondering what the big deal was. She approached the gate, only to find that her path was blocked by two of the trainers. "What gives? Get out of my way," she barked, putting her hands on her hips. The Starly perched on her shoulder chirped indignantly as well.
"Sorry kid, but we don't let just anybody waltz through this gate into Oreburgh. You've got to be worthy." The boy standing guard sneered down at the smaller girl.
"Kid?! Worthy?! Just who died and put you in charge of deciding who is and isn't worthy?" Katie retorted, glaring up at the boy. Another annoyed chirp escaped Noa, and she ruffled her feathers in annoyance. The kids just laughed at her, and Katie felt her anger starting to grow. "Just how does one get to be 'worthy' enough to get through?"

"Well that was nice of him." Crenu said as he turned his attention back to the professor. The guy that had shown up at the center with a gym leader was asking about the fire pokemon of the new region, a waste of a question in his opinion. Crenu was still feeling a little angry when the little psychic pokemon teleported form her trainer onto his shoulder. Though odd and unexpected, Crenu somewhat appreciated the kind gesture and smiled a bit as he turned his head to get a better look at her. "Nothing gets past you, does it?" He petted one of the red horns on her head, they looks like the focal point for this pokemon's powers. "I left home not long ago either, probably only been a month. I'm gonna head back after this things over, need to earn some more badges to keep my pokemon in line." Remembering what he had been told earlier, Crenu returned to his stoic self, though he subconsciously kept petting the little white pokemon for a little while longer before putting his hands back in his pockets. "Also figured I'd try my hand at pokemon contests. I've never actually seen one before, but I'm somewhat drawn to the prospect of showing off my pokemons strength in a different method from regular battling." Crenu loved calculations and challenging his mind, and using one or more move in various ways to make a perfect balance was like the ultimate equation. It was something that he could definitely get into, though in reality he knew very little about contests.

Shyness had never really been much of an issue for Kasiya and she beamed up at the professor when he pointed her out, and without hesitation she jumped to her feet. "I would just like to know the names of the Pokemon you've shown us, Professor," she said politely, not having to really yell due to the fact that she was fairly close to the front. In truth, she had been most concerned with the large, blue catlike Pokemon and the cute little penguin, but she figured for the sake of the others present they might as well learn all the names of all the Pokemon.
She heard Mike call out from somewhere behind her, and she smiled at the question. Typical Mike, she thought, but had to agree with him. She was growing rather fond of Fire-types thanks to his and Keegan's influence, though thanks to her upbringing Electric-types were still number one in her book. I hope there are some awesome Electric-type Pokemon in Sinnoh... I can't wait to catch them!
=-=-=-=-= Flannery, naturally, was not at all surprised by Mike's question and she very much supported it. After all, when you ran a Fire-type gym it was always worthwhile to see what new Pokemon you could add to your repertoire. The little Pokemon that Rowan identified as a Chimchar caught her attention, and she couldn't help but wonder what kind of attacks it learned. Maybe if Mike or Kasiya or even Keegan ever goes to Sinnoh I'll ask one of them to bring me back a Chimchar, she mused, tapping her chin thoughtfully. It was highly unlikely that she'd ever make it to Sinnoh on her own, as her duties kept her tethered relatively close to her gym. It sure would be nice, she thought, looking forward to what else Professor Rowan had to say.

At the mention of contests Riza's eyes lit up and a faraway look appeared in her grey eyes. "Oh, contests," she murmured, smiling happily. "My main goal is to become a top Pokemon Coordinator," she said, completely agreeing with everything Crenu had to say about contests. "I've been watching them on TV for a few years now, and it's always been something I've always wanted to do. But my parents..." she scoffed at the thought and turned her gaze to the ground. "I wouldn't mind trying to earn a few badges myself though."
Ralts cooed happily now that her trainer's friend seemed to feel better and she patted him once more before teleporting back onto Riza's head. "Hey you're messing up my hair," the raven haired girl grumbled, reaching up and plucking the little psychic Pokemon from her head. Ralts squirmed but giggled happily like it was some kind of game, though she did settle in Riza's lap. Riza glanced around at the large crowd again. Towards the front she thought she saw a girl with blonde hair stand up and ask the professor a question, and without realizing it, Riza scowled the moment she realized who she was, even more so when she recognized the redhead sitting next to her. 'Ugh, why do I even care about that?' she thought, shaking her head slightly before looking back to Crenu. "I am definitely going back to Johto after this is over," she said, the determination in her voice clear. This sudden jealousy over a boy she'd only just met was really starting to get to her, and she wanted to put an end to it before it got out of hand. * * * * * "We decide," the older of the two boys said, still looking down his nose at Katie. Katie felt her rage continue to grow, and she tapped her stylish shoe on the ground angrily, waiting for them to further explain themselves. "Well judging by the Starly on your arm you're a trainer, so guess what girly? You get to battle us! If you can beat us both, then you can go through Oreburgh Gate. Fair enough?"
Katie looked at Noa, who tilted her head and chirped. Katie smiled. "You're on," she said, flipping her hair behind her. "But boy, are you creeps ever gonna be sorry."
The younger boy (Katie assumed them to be brothers, maybe a year apart, judging by the way their hair stood up on end in almost all the same places, and they shared the same deep brown colour in their eyes) came forward first, already throwing a pokeball to the ground. Katie raised an eyebrow when she saw the ever common Bidoof emerge, and she nudged Noa up off her shoulder. "We can do this," she said, looking up at the tawny bird. Sure, it was their first battle together but that didn't matter to her. After all, they had to start somewhere. "Quick attack," Katie called, pointing at the bidoof.

Keegan's mind had wandered back to the professor's mention of strange moves, and he closed his eyes, trying to recall if any of his Pokemon had exhibited anything like that. Shortly after I caught Tierra she somehow raised her speed to well above the norm for a Geodude, and yesterday during the battle with Mike Themis used that strange, electrified Bite, he thought, opening his eyes and sighing. He couldn't remember if anything else strange had happened, though he did remember seeing Kasiya's Larvitar use some strange, dark-looking move the same night he'd gotten Helios back from Sheridan, and he wondered if any of Kasiya's other Pokemon had used any new or unusual techniques that the PokeDex didn't describe. Maybe I should look into getting one of those things, he thought, wondering just where he could get one. Time and time again it had proved to be useful to Kasiya, and he felt a little envious that she'd got one at the start of her journey.
"Hey Kassie, where'd you get your PokeDex?" he asked, waiting until her question had been answered and she'd sat back down again. "Any idea where I could get one?" ===== Morty's eye twitched slightly when he saw the burst of blue powder rain down onto his Misdreavus. "Fight it!" he barked, clapping his hands sharply even as the drowsiness overcame his Pokemon. Try as she may, however, Misdreavus couldn't hang on and she drifted to the ground, fast asleep. Morty let out an annoyed groan, gently slapping a palm over his forehead. He knew from experience that dealing with a sleeping Pokemon wasn't easy, especially since that was one of the tactics he often used. "Misdreavus, wake up and use Shadow Ball!" he commanded. But, the Screech Pokemon did not awaken. She shivered in her sleep as the Leech Seed stole some of her health.
Miharu sighed with relief when she saw the Misdreavus fall asleep, and she quickly looked to her Bulbasaur. "Now's your chance, Lily! Get some of your strength back with Giga Drain!" Miharu punched the air, a determined gleam in her green eyes.
Lily dashed towards the sleeping ghost, one of her vines extending out and touching the forehead of the Misdreavus. Both Pokemon began to glow with a green aura as Lily sapped a decent amount of health from her target, feeling a lot healthier now that she had done so.
