nadi_shoal the binary translatore says E Looe..... Hahaha, that's because the translator doesn't take into account parity. You can write in binary using ASCII without parity, but you can't actually communicate unless you do.

Geba_00 *is baffled* What the heck is parity???? Naturally when you send electronic signals between systems some errors will occur. Parity is essentially a method of checking for errors. ASCII (American Systen for Information Interchange) uses seven digits to indicate a character (1000001 = A). When you use parity you add another digit to the front of every character. When even parity is used, you add either a zero or a one to make the total number of ones in the now eight digit number even (for A you would add a zero: 01000001). For odd parity you add either a zero or a one to make the total number of ones odd (for A you would add a one: 11000001). Basically when to systems first try to 'talk,' they decide on even or odd parity. Suppose we are using even parity. If a computer recieves a character that has an odd number of ones, then the computer knows that there was an error and can request that data be sent again.

nadi_shoal you a brain or something? Something like that (I like to delude myself), especially in anything related to mathematics.

oh. I suck at math. In chem today, I had to convert some formulas and then just stick the #'s in there, but I couldn't do it. It sucked.
